Sorry, I wrote the note on the edit page wrong. I meant the punctuation comes INSIDE the quote mark unless the quote is a sentence with a verb. Hope all well now. Bmcln1 (talk) 16:12, 7 July 2019 (UTC)

DYK for You Need to Calm Down

On 8 August 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article You Need to Calm Down, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that following the release of "You Need to Calm Down", GLAAD reported an "influx" of $13 donations? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/You Need to Calm Down. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, You Need to Calm Down), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Lover (album)

Please stop removing sourced genres, they are not genres for just one song. See WP:OR. Thanks. Billiekhalidfan (talk) 15:10, 31 August 2019 (UTC)

@Billiekhalidfan: The sourced genres you are citing are for individual songs, which does not necessarily reflect the entire album. One R&B-influenced song on an album with 18 tracks does not mean the album falls under R&B. Meanwhile the ones I kept are all reflective of the entire album as a whole. Shuipzv3 (talk) 15:13, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
Well the way the article was written suggests multiple songs fall under the genre. While you may be right about R&B, there are multiple country songs ("Lover" and "Soon You'll Get Better") and pop rock songs ("The Archer", "Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince" and "Paper Rings"). Billiekhalidfan (talk) 15:18, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
You have a point for country, but that's two songs out of 18. And where did you get pop rock from? "The Archer" is dream pop, "Miss Americana" is synth-pop, and "Paper Rings" is pop punk. Shuipzv3 (talk) 15:24, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
Never mind, found it under Rolling Stone. It can stay. Shuipzv3 (talk) 15:28, 31 August 2019 (UTC)

Apostrophes

Why Are the apostrophes an issue? This is regarding your recent edits of the "Soon You'll Get Better" article. I'm just learning. BawinV (talk) 12:05, 7 September 2019 (UTC)

MOS:PUNCT recommends using straight apostrophes ('), not curly apostrophes (’). Shuipzv3 (talk) 12:54, 7 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Ref params

Hello. Happy New Year 💗

I've seen your edits. I see you using the term "ref params". Can you tell me what does that mean? Lol. I'm just trying to learn. Thank you. BawinV (talk) 11:32, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

@BawinV: that's my shorthand for fixing errors in references, like missing parameters, unnecessary details in URLs, punctuation errors, typos, etc. Shuipzv3 (talk) 11:43, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

Homecoming (2019 film)

Hi, Please look into the last paragraph of the Impact section. I don't think what he's doing is in accordance with the guidelines. I added statements from critics in Swift's defense, in order to make it look neutral and represent all Points of view, but that specific editor (Bgkc4444) won't accept it. He won't add quotation marks to opinions from commentators, making it look Swift really appropriated. I don't wanna edit war. but I'm not sure what I can do about this. please look into this. BawinV (talk) 16:20, 9 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi there! I apologize for BawinV involving you in this also.
  1. BawinV should know that the guidelines on neutral point of view (WP:NPOV) say that undue weight should not be given to minority views (WP:UNDUE). As the cited sources show, the only people who hold an opposing view in this case are Taylor Swift fans, and the guidelines states that an opinion held by a tiny minority should not even be mentioned in articles, especially when that view is irrelevant to the article topic. Furthermore, the cited sources continued by disproving the Swift fans. However, despite the minority view and subsequent refutations, BawinV repeatedly tries to edit the article and give undue weight to the disproved tiny minority.
  2. BawinV then repeatedly vandalized the article by placing quotation marks at random points in a sentence multiple times (he claimed they were direct quotes, which they weren't) and deleting words from the sentence that he didn't like as he says above (he claimed the word was not in the cited sources, which it was).
  3. BawinV says he doesn't want to start an edit war, but he already did. He needs to understand that it is possible for a sentence in an article to exist that is not 100% praiseworthy of Taylor Swift.
Many other users have complained about BawinV's bias, vandalism, edit wars and ignorance of the guidelines, as can be seen from his Talk page (talk). Again, I apologize that you have been dragged into this. Bgkc4444 (talk) 20:15, 9 February 2020 (UTC)Bgkc4444
@Bgkc4444: You seem to be presenting the dispute as between the majority of people and Swift's fans, when that is not the case. The dispute is largely between Beyoncé's fans and Swift's fans on Twitter. It is also not correct to call Swift's fans a "tiny minority" and dismiss that viewpoint as undue weight, because the size of the fandoms is not something you can know. The source did not disprove anything; whether or not there was plagiarism is not proven or disproven by Twitter users or a journalist in a tabloid. I hope you and @BawinV: can work out your differences. If either of you disagree with another's viewpoint, by all means voice your opposition, but focus on the content, not the contributor. Calling each other names like "stans" and "[so-and-so's] fan" is not going to bring anything positive to the discussion. If the dispute continues, we may have to bring this to the attention of others. Shuipzv3 (talk) 15:57, 10 February 2020 (UTC)
@Shuipzv3: I disagree. The cited sources show that it is not merely Beyoncé's fans and Swift's fans on Twitter. Neither article was written by Beyoncé's fans on Twitter, and the Flare article specifically says "Fan reactions aside, what we *can’t* put aside is some serious critical thinking", continuing by providing multiple reasons why Swift appropriated Beyoncé. I am happy to provide more sources if that helps clarify the undue weight that would be inappropriate to give to the disproved minority view. With regards to the personal attacks, @BawinV: continues to make attacks on me and writes completely inappropriate statements, as is evident in his reply to you where he writes "lol" to mock me and the subject; he also used "lol" in his first edit to the page in question as well as in many other edits. Additionally, in this first edit, he also wrote "if you want to add this unnecessary para"; he should not be attacking me for making relevant edits and attacking them as unnecessary because they don't please him. In a later edits, he mocks me, calls me a "mad stan", complains that "especially a beyonce stan and taylor hater" should not be editing, spreads libel claiming that I am "fueling [my] personal vendetta into wikipedia", and sarcastically writes "it'd be nice if you don't use wiki to spread your hate and negativity propaganda (it ain't twitter ❤)". BawinV then mocks me on my Talk page, writing "You've barely made 200 edits. I understand you lack knowledge regarding how things work here", as well as on the article Talk page where he writes "You probably don't even edit out of Beyoncé. Lol. Maybe if you did, you would know that WIKI is for NEUTRALITY, and not for CELEBRITY WORSHIPPING", and insults me, writing "You talk too much irrelevant stuff". Bgkc4444 (talk) 19:49, 10 February 2020 (UTC)Bgkc4444

I tried. we couldn't reach any middle ground. I request involvement from a third person. bgkc4444 loves villifying me. Lol. that's why I wanna step aside and let a third person (someone like an admin) decide. I just wanted to preserve neutrality. But bgkc4444 seems to incessantly insist that he/she ONLY wants to include one side of the subject, ie only one POV. I just want both POVs, as stated in the sources, to be represented. I sincerely request the attention of others. BawinV (talk) 18:33, 10 February 2020 (UTC)

List of best-selling albums in China

Hi, i just saw you may speak Chinese. There is list of best-selling albums in China, but caught my attention the sales of Western artist like Taylor Swift. I'm not sure if are "real sales", specially when IFPI doesn't counts them into their annual reports. Maybe you can consider evaluate this situation. Thanks, --Chrishonduras (talk) 00:09, 18 February 2020 (UTC)

China does not have a organisation like RIAA that consolidates sales data, awards certifications and so on. Instead, the online music stores and streaming services publish their sales, and there's a third-party website that combine these figures. The figures and references used for the "best-selling digital albums" section consists of these sources. I can only speculate the IFPI does not count these because they can't verify them? In any case, the same type of sources are used for both Western artists and the non-Western artists like the Chinese and South Korean artists. Shuipzv3 (talk) 06:00, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
speculate? ok thanks for your point of view. --Chrishonduras (talk) 15:25, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
I can't ask the IFPI, so that's my best guess. Shuipzv3 (talk) 04:07, 19 February 2020 (UTC)

"Don't include Producers"

Hi, greetings,

In your latest edit on Taylor Swift, you said producers shouldn't be included in "Associated Acts". But then, why do I see producers in associated acts of other artists? Technically, Jack is not just a producer. He's an established singer songwriter who has won accolades for his albums. Please clarify. Thank you 💗 BawinV (talk) 10:34, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

@BawinV: Look at Template:Infobox musical artist#associated acts for guidelines as to who should be included. Associations that should be included are those between acts (i.e. performers). Ed Sheeran is included because he has collaborated as an act with Swift on multiple occasions ("Everything Has Changed" on Red and "End Game" on Reputation). On the other hand, Jack Antonoff's collaborations with Swift is writing and producing, which is not what the guideline recommends. I know Antonoff also has a separate career as an act, but he does not work with Swift as an act. It's the same reason we don't include Liz Rose, Nathan Chapman, Max Martin, Shellback, etc. Shuipzv3 (talk) 14:42, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Quotebox

Hi,

You recently converted a Quotebox on Lover (album) into a Quote. would you mind to tell me why?

Thank you. BawinV (talk) 18:53, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

AMP

Hi,

you recently used the term "AMP" in the summary of your most recent edit on Lover. Can you tell me what's the full form of AMP?

Thank you. BawinV (talk) 16:07, 10 May 2020 (UTC)

@BawinV: AMP refers to Accelerated Mobile Pages. Essentially, it's software that allows webpages to load faster on mobile browsers. You can usually tell an AMP link from the standard link by the presence of "amp" somewhere within the URL. The downside of AMP links is that it can sometimes look funny on desktop browsers, so I think it's better to use the standard link. Shuipzv3 (talk) 16:32, 10 May 2020 (UTC)

City of Lover concert special and alleged live album

Hi,

I'm asking you this since you're the only other editor here I find reliable.

Swift recently announced a City of Lover live recorded one-hour film on Hulu and Disney+, which will premiere on ABC. it's a concert film. So don't you think it needs its own article? Allegedly, Swift is also set to surprise drop a live album accompanying the film's release. So i think it'd be appropriate to create an article for City of Lover (film+album); I don't know to create an article, so I was wondering if you could it? and also please look into this, I don't know how this will be executed.

1. COL film and COL album with separate articles or 2. COL film+album in one article? (Homecoming album and film are separate articles)

so please look into this. it'd be nice if you could give me some clarity on this. BawinV (talk) 12:25, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

@BawinV: For the concert film, I don't think there is enough material for a standalone article. I think it should go under Lover (album), probably with its own section, with small bits of information at pages like Taylor Swift videography and List of Taylor Swift live performances. If there is a lot of information in the Lover article, we can always spin it out to its own article. As for the rumoured live album, we can't base an article on rumours alone. Wait for concrete information, and if there is a live album, then that can have its own article. By the way, you shouldn't find that I'm the only "reliable" editor here. The other editors, many more experienced than I am, are worth listening to. Shuipzv3 (talk) 14:46, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

okay, thank you. BawinV (talk) 16:48, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Please explain

Hi, can you please explain why you made this edit? It damaged the article, so I repaired it. - DVdm (talk) 16:47, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

I saw what I thought was a missing punctuation mark, so I added it. The formula is already on the next line on my end, so I didn't see a problem. Shuipzv3 (talk) 16:51, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Ok, also, you made that edit less than a minute after you made this edit. I wonder what made you turn your attention to the former article after having edited the latter? - DVdm (talk) 16:53, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
It was in my backlog. Sometimes I'll be browsing and see something that can be fixed, but I might not have the time to do it right away, so I save it for when I have time. Shuipzv3 (talk) 17:05, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as List of foreign aid to Ukraine during the Russo-Ukrainian War. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:11, 18 March 2022 (UTC)

Please See My Comment On Talk:Taylor Swift

No claims that Swift and Alwyn have broken up should be posted until representatives of either party or Swift or Alwyn themselves have spoken publicly about it. Every article says the same thing, some anonymous “insider” claims this happened and yet no official word from actual sources like Swift, Alwyn or their representatives have confirmed this and all say they posted before getting confirmation. As of right now any and all media claiming this should be considered non-factual and the information taken with a grain of salt until an official statement is given. The news media has made speculations before regarding Swift by supposed anonymous “insiders”, most recently an anonymous “insider” making false claims Swift would announce her next re-recording before embarking on her Era’s Tour and that didn’t come to pass, this should make it very clear that the news media are doing this for clickbaiting like they did with the Era Tours claims of a re-recording announcement. 2600:1015:B11D:D5E4:39D3:839:C364:9B3C (talk) 06:39, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Deleted new entry in Taylor Swift Fifteen covers up Catholic sex abuse

Really hard to understand why you deleted an addition in the Wiki article about Taylor Swift's song Fifteen spurred by an investigative report in the Sacramento Bee about the unnamed boy in the early Swift song.

Taylor sang, "And Abigail gave everything she had To a boy who changed his mind And we both cried."

You justified the erasure of this new revelation about Fifteen's origins because you said it was "completely irrelevant." Yet, Abigail, the other subject of this song and a trusted friend of Taylor Swift, gave a rare interview speaking out about the abuse that Trevor Martin (the boy in the song) suffered and the fact that his abuser, priest Michael Kelly skipped town to Ireland to evade justice.

Swifties have been conversing about these new revelations on Reddit and other places. One person wrote "Knowing this back story really adds a deeper layer to the song...It’s really beautiful to hear about Abigail, Taylor, and Trevor as a trio of friends, running around him backyard and just being young. Ugh. This is so sad but I’m really glad they shared this story." So clearly it is relevant to some.

Sexually abused people have difficulty navigating relationships. From the Beatles to Taylor Swift the backstory of popular music is a fascinating subject. And to be blunt, there has been enough covering up of Catholic Church sex abuse. You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I'm sure you are a valuable contributor to Wikipedia. But please undo your deletion post haste. It's misguided. 65.229.1.243 (talk) 16:08, 6 October 2023 (UTC)

I was the one who initially added it. It was deleted by another editor. Shuipzv3 (talk) 22:36, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
Oh dang, SO SORRY. Total luddite. Well can you help? Great addition. I also think what you wrote could use a bit more context. Kelly was more than an alleged abuser. He was found responsible and the Stockton Diocese apologized for the abuse to Trevor. 65.78.145.108 (talk) 22:47, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
and thanks for responding! 65.78.145.108 (talk) 22:47, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
I suggest you start a discussion on Talk:Fifteen_(song). FYI, it is not advisable to edit your comments. If you want to clarify something or changed your opinion, you should do so in a new line, and optionally strikethrough the bits you changed your opinion on. Shuipzv3 (talk) 22:52, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
Ok well thanks for the tips. I was just clarifying something. you have edited I believe a ton of articles, for many readers like myself, Wikipedia is a mystery how it actually works. So what is your suggestion here how exactly to address this? As the person who added the informationally originally, can you add it back? How does this kind of thing get sorted out? Is it also appropriate to leave a comment for the editor who made the strike? 65.78.145.108 (talk) 23:03, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
I can add it back, but it might get removed again, so I think it is better to invite a discussion so other editors can weigh in. You can also leave a respectful message on the talk page of the editor who removed it. Shuipzv3 (talk) 23:07, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
