Speedy tags

Please take more time to examine articles and their history before tagging them for speedy deletion. The article N2Deep was tagged for db in Feb 2006, and was denied as Not speedyable at that time. The band is not likely to have become less notable since then. Further, they are 1) A US band with an article on the Spanish Wikipedia, 2) Signed to a notable record label, with 9 albums. Coming or Going

Quite frankly, I have to agree with TPIRSteve's pov for this article. It is not "known for being one of the easiest games" unless you can provite some interview or article in which some wiki-allowed source actually makes this claim. Otherwise, it's just personal opinion. Also, I have been recently revamping all the pricing game articles, and I am pretty much wiping out all of the "probability" comments in them, as they are not really accurate. Yes there is a 50:50 chance of picking the right box if there are two boxes to choose from, but when picking the correct price of an item, the odds aren't relevant, since "coming" and "going" are not equal options. If I said what's the correct price of a Cadillac, $50,000 or 20 bucks... you can say there's a 50:50 chance of guessing right, but you have to look at the two options and say that they are not equally likely to be right. Similarly, in Coming and Going, the choices are two different prices which factor into the decision, not just random choice. TheHYPO 03:55, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I'm pretty sure you could've just moved "T" post to T post without having it deleted first: MediaWiki explicitly allows pages to be moved over redirects pointing to them, as long as said redirect only have one revision in their history. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 20:10, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

"Discussion" to "Talk"

Hi! You recently said on the thread about the proposal to change the name on the tag that links to talk pages that "Talk means to speak, as if with the mouth. Discussion can still mean writing it." I and Bielle have presented an argument against your argument, namely that it is simply not true! It is safe to say that the entire Wikipedian community calls these pages talk pages, but I believe that, if it meant only to speak with the mouth, people wouldn't do that, because, well, we don't think that anyone is speaking with the mouth here!

Wiktionary's entry on talk does say that, as a verb, it means "To communicate to someone else by means of voice." The entry should be improved: the fact is that, when we say (we say) talk pages, we mean pages where we communicate, discuss the subjects, we do talk about them even though we use written words instead of sounds. This dictionary entry is more complete, as it accepts "talk" to mean communicating by any means.

We are in the process of gaining consensus for the change. I believe it would be a true improvement, for the link to talk pages to say that it is a link to talk pages. If I didn't understand correctly what you meant by your sentence, and have misinterpreted it, please let me know on the thread or here or on my talk page. If I did understand it correctly, I believe you should change your mind about that, and either not be against the change or stop using that specific argument to oppose it. I wouldn't let google toolbar near any machine I use -- i regard it as dangerous spyware. I do in fact have iespell installed on one machine, and i am in the process of installing it on my other (problems with the correct version of dot net framework) but I don't always remember to use it. The tallest structures list article page

Hi. Regarding your edit that you just made to the article, I don't understand your reasons. Firstly, how is "world trade centres" not a category? There are many buildings in the world designated to be world trade centers, as they were built for the purpose of a world trade center. The disambig page says this, or would that be not a type of structure, but rather a type of usage? Also, what other exsisting world trade centers surpass the WTC's previous height? I clicked the links in the world trade centres disambig pg, and none of them that were actually buidings designated to be wtcs seemed to have a height over that of the WTC, as the tallest one was like only 500ft or so, and the WTC was about 3 times that. Basquiat strings

Hi there. I think you marked up [Basquiat strings] for deletion. This band has just been nominated for a UK Mercury prize, which is a really big deal in the UK. It would be ludicrous to delete a page about the band at this point! Please at least google a band or musician before you suggest it needs deleting, because on this occasion it was not a correct call.

Moving articles

Thanks for the tip, but I already knew that. Unfortunately, in some instances moving a page is not possible, like when there's already a page with that name. That is the only time I cut-and-paste the content rather than "move" it. Precious Roy 21:26, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: changing "Gracenotes'" to "Gracenotes's", which I had just noticed.

Leo Arnaud

Thanks for the note about Leo Arnaud: In North Carolina about every four years there would do an interview/article on Leo Arnaud from his home in Hamptonville, North Carolina. I did Google and Nexis searches for info on him and home in Hamptonville. The closest I could find today is the Winston-Salem Journal obit of wife Faye Brooks Arnaud, who died earlier this year. Hope that helps a little. I suppose since he died a few years before the birth of the Internet. IMDB is incorrect in this case.
