American history task force

Project news The project coordinator selection process is starting. We are aiming to elect nine coordinators to serve for the next six months; if you are interested in running, please sign up here by February 14! The contest department has completed its tenth month of competition, which saw an unprecedented 44 entries. The top scorer this month is Dreamafter, with 95 points, followed by Cla68, with 42 points, and Ed! and Woody, with 21 points each. Blnguyen remains the overall leader, with 182 points in total. All project members are encouraged to submit the articles they're working on as entries. A new auxiliary infobox, {{operational plan}}, is now available. A new page for military history essays has been created; project members are encouraged to post their own advice and opinions on matters within the project's purview. New guidelines concerning precision and ship pronouns have been added to the style guide. Featured picture candidates and picture peer reviews are now accessible through the project's review department. An effort to convert deprecated infoboxes has begun; any assistance is welcome! Awards and honors Bwmoll3 has been awarded the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves in recognition of his superior contributions to a variety of articles about the United States Air Force, including a great number of those dealing with wings and installations. Bedford has been awarded the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves in recognition of the outstanding contribution he has made to the project's organization by going above and beyond the call of duty in tagging, assessing, and classifying a massive number of articles during the 2007 assessment drive.

Article importance tag

John Carter and Phoenix-wiki, I'd like to ask you both about the utility of the "article importance" rating that I recently commented out of the Wikiproject Robotics template. My instinct is that the very last thing I need to hear is "Dan says my article is more important than yours". Did this fill any essential function in any previous Wikiproject? Is there some mistake we're likely to make because we misjudge the importance of Roomba or Robot? - Dan Dank55 (talk) 00:06, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Template:History Peer review editintro

Help Wiki

Hi, I'm not sure if you know this already but Help Wiki was shutdown and at my request AGK has given me the xml data for all the pages so we don't loose our hard work. At the moment I'm still thinking over what to do with the content but I think incorporating it back into Wikipedia is the way to go. Unfortunately I don't think the CC license used is compatible with the GNUFDL(its the no commercial restriction in the CC license that is the problem). Anyway if I am going to incorporate that pages back into Wikipedia I'll need you to release your work under the GNUFDL, just something like "I agree to release my work under the GNUFDL" will be fine. If you have any other suggestions or comments feel free to tell me them. --Chris 09:18, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Battery_chicken.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL.
