Personal Attacks

I’m not here to make things personal as removing the page has absolutely no effect on me personally, and thankfully I’m not Latino otherwise I would’ve taken it personal but I’m not so it’s nothing personal but erasing an entire group from the Canadian demographics is going to be seen like it and feel like it. No, I will not be limited, controlled or otherwise restricted by how people might feel about an article. If it is not notable under the guidelines of Wikipedia, it will be brought to the community's attention. In the future, suggest refrain from using charged language like genocide and keep your comments strictly related to the article and sources as they will be interpreted as personal attacks, regardless of your personal feelings.Slywriter (talk) 02:21, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

First of all, I only added some of the articles for Latin American Canadian because I thought than even though some of the communities are smaller, they still needed representation. The Algerian and Moroccan American communities are smaller in America than it is in Canada and there’s still a page to this day for both groups so why remove the Latin American Canadian page and it’s associated pages?

I feel the people who use Wikipedia need a full explanation for this action. It seems like if there’s some manufactured excuse of pulling the Latin American Canadian page, then we need to pull all the pages of “other groups” who don’t make up the definition of who’s Canadian. I’ve tried to be civil but I’ll allow other people, namely the Latin American embassies know about this short sighted action taken.

And like I said, it’s not affecting me in any way, shape, or form. I felt like I made my case and thought it was just the Guatemalan and Honduran communities affected, but it seems like the entire Latino Canadian group is affected and how do you expect somebody to be collaborative when you just targeted an entire group? This is the reason why I used “literary genocide” because your actions have literally no bearing and I can’t understand why anybody would be collaborative with you after you just targeted an entire race/group.

Either way, it’s getting sent to Ottawa because I’m pretty much done. You may not care about what other people think about your actions, but I’m pretty sure the Latin American community will most definitely care and hopefully force Wikipedia to keep those pages open. You have clearly taken this personal as evident by your multiple threats to go to the embassy, groups etc as well as repeating your genocide claim, which is a gross mischaracterization of the circumstances.

Just delete it then since Latin American Canadians are a meritless page according to Wikipedia. I never created the page and the attacks against me are fruitless anyways. Guatemalan_Canadians

Hi, and thanks for creating this article. I hope it is kept. I've made some edits that hopefully others will agree helps justifying keeping - i.e. adding more than just the demographic data, also some more information.

If you want an article to be kept, the best way to influence that is to improve it further. If you look at my edits, that is the sort of extra content that makes articles more valuable to wikipedia.

Please don't be disheartened by the deletion process, you can influence it by editing. That will be a more effective strategy than complaining about other editors.

The Articles for Deletion process is not a vote or a democracy and petitioning others to participate is best avoided. See WP:CANVASS. Avoiding cut-and-paste moves

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. OK, thank you! I was only trying to just change the page name from "African-American" to "Black American" because I'm trying to keep up with the times especially when you have blacks in America who now consider themselves "American Descendents of Slavery" (ADOS) and "Full Black American" (FBA). I'll try the move tab and see if it works. Also, I'll attempt to change the term of African American to Black American since Black American is a much more inclusive racial term as opposed to African-American, which only refers to black American who's ancestors were slaves brought here directly from Africa. Hello! I've been locked out of my account for some time and I want to know why it is that I've been locked. I haven't received any logical reason why my account has been locked. I have made some edits tha have been reverted by Wikipedia and if it's the wrong info, my apologies, but I have tried to use some links that back up my edits as to make sure the the info is legible. I would like to see if Wikipedia can unlock my account so I can be able to edit some important pages. Thank you for this understanding!

Copying within Wikipedia

You did not identify the source of the material in your edit. It appears to be Filipino Canadians. Copying within Wikipedia is acceptable but it must be attributed.

This type of edit does get picked up by Copy Patrol and a good edit summary helps to make sure we don't accidentally revert it. However, for future use, would you note the best practices wording as outlined at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia? In particular, linking to the source article and adding the phrase "see that page's history for attribution" helps ensure that proper attribution is preserved.

While best practices are that attribution should be added to the edit summary at the time the edit is made, the linked article on best practices describes the appropriate steps to add attribution after the fact. I hope you will do so.

I've noticed that this guideline is not very well known, even among editors with tens of thousands of edits, so it isn't surprising that I point this out to some veteran editors, but there are some t's that need to be crossed.S Philbrick(Talk) 13:05, 24 February 2023 (UTC)

Hello! I made sure that there was a source attributed to my Filipino Canadian edit. If the source doesn't work, then I'll see what other source can be used. By the way, I did copy from one of the Wikipedia pages and just pasted on the other page, since I saw that only Toronto and Winnipeg had quotes, but not Montreal, which is a growing community. It's also possible to add Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver, but I don't know much about those cities nor the Filipino Canadian communities that lies within those cities.
