sources

Dear Muhandes, I have added available sources; if they are not satisfactory, let it remain archived. No problem. Thank you for the info. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dailux (talkcontribs) 08:18, 21 April 2018 (UTC)

@Dailux: Regarding Karnataka State Open University, I'm not sure why you say you added available sources, this is the section you added and no reliable source, or in fact any kind of citation is provided. Links to twitter and other external links should not be added either. --Muhandes (talk) 18:32, 21 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi, please could you specify the false information I'm alleged to have added to Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India. BubbleEngineer (talk) 13:25, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

@BubbleEngineer:   Self-trout It was another editor who added the info, my apologies. --Muhandes (talk) 13:33, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

Got your Message

Thanks a lot for your message Muhandes... I really hope to continue editing without any discouragements either ways. It's been kind of tasky trying to create an article since I just joined a month ago. (ReoMartins (talk) 07:27, 30 April 2018 (UTC))

@ReoMartins: I waited four years before I gathered the guts (and experience) to create an article, but that's how I tick, and there is no real reason not to jump into the water and swim. I'd be happy to assist you if you have something in mind that you want to write about. --Muhandes (talk) 12:05, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

Removing Verified Information

i am observing that you are removing a lot of credible information from pages and imposing your thoughts. As far as Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli is concerned i have been student of this institute and the information published was from official documents. There is nothing promotional.Information is information. For Indian Institute of Technology Jammu first take a look at official logo of all IITs they have native name in hindi along with English. For completeness for information it was added there. Many articles use native scripts in the infobox or article. This feature of infobox itself suffices the requirement. No one should erase contents just because they don't fit into someone's views. It takes lot of time and effort to write the content. You are advised to review your thoughts before erasing the content. Karan (talk) 07:27, 30 April 2018 (UTC))

@Karankhajuria22: First, as student of Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli you have a very obvious conflict of interests. I went to leave you a note on your talk page with some information on how to handle such a conflict, but noticed such a note was already left there a year ago. I left another one, please read it and follow the instructions this time. Second, please read MOS:INDICSCRIPT, it is very clear about not allowing Indic scripts in the lead and infoboxe. Finally, regarding information I removed from Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli, if I removed material by mistake you are free to ask for its return on the talk page. Me (in case you ping me) or another editor, will be happy to re-consider it. --Muhandes (talk) 18:00, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

Thanks --Karan (talk) 07:27, 30 April 2018 (UTC))

Unnecessary removal of information

Thanks for your efforts to edit the wikipedia pages, as it is improving the quality. But I have seen that you have removed many important links and information from the page "Rajiv gandhi school of intellectual property law" many times. You have also removed Indic script (Hindi name of school) many times. I wanted to know that, are you a student or resident of school to remove such information. Your profile says that you're from Israel, then how can you remove such information. I'm a student of this school and removing such information sitting somewhere else with just a click of mouse is very EASY. Please don't make strict norms, as it is an open source platform. We are adding requisite information for needy searchers. Please consider this message as a feedback and I respect your contribution to wikipedia and try to respect the information provided by less FREQUENT contributors. PS- it is open source and we provide references. Aditya7ku (talk) 09:23, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

@Aditya7ku: I think you have a slight misunderstanding of what Wikipedia is. Wikipedia is an online Encyclopedia. Its purpose is not to serve as an "open source platform" but to serve encyclopedic knowledge. As such, it is critical that all information will be from a neutral point of view. As a student of the school you have a very clear conflict of interests and should not have edited the article to begin with. I left some guidelines on your talk page on how to handle this conflict and tagged the article accordingly. This has nothing to do with the frequency of your edits - I respect your contributions and you are free to edit every other article. However, if you want to edit Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, please follow the guidelines I left you. Second, as an encyclopedia, consistency is important, which is why we have a Manual of Style. Specifically, Indic scripts should not be added to the lead or infobox. This has nothing to do with my respect for you or your edits. It is the consensus, which brings me to the last point. What you call "strict norms" are polices and guidelines which were set by the community through consensus. I am required to follow them just as you are. Without them we will have utter chaos. --Muhandes (talk) 11:33, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

Second opinion

Hi, we've had a little interaction in the past and I believe you monitor many Indian university articles. Just looked at your user page and I certainly agree with you. I was wondering about School of Drama and Fine Arts. I moved this two years ago to University of Calicut School of Drama and Fine Arts because it's a department of the university and not commonly known by the generic name (at least not outside of the university). It got moved back this week (as a non-controversial technical move request - see User_talk:Ammarpad#University_of_Calicut_article) with which I strongly disagree. Rather than starting a move discussion, I now think it's really not notable - with only a couple of primary refs. But instead of AFD, I suppose merge into University of Calicut where the only current mention is an unlinked "1 fine arts college" may be best. Your opinion? Thanks. MB 03:03, 2 June 2018 (UTC)

@MB: I don't think it is notable either. I would boldly merge it, I don't even see reason for discussion. --Muhandes (talk) 18:46, 2 June 2018 (UTC)

All India Management Association History

Hi, I am willing to add history of All India Management Association which I written myself. Before adding it I feel (as per page edit history) it will be better if I consult with you first. So, How can I proceed please suggest me. Spconnor (talk) 14:19, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

@Spconnor: Are you in any way related to AIMA (paid or otherwise)? Are you in any way related to any of the editors who were reverted? If the answer to both is negative, I'm not sure what the problem is. --Muhandes (talk) 17:43, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
@Muhandes: I edit Wikipedia independently, I am consulting with you before edit the page because you asked so, I come to know this by visiting view history of the page. Please guide me how to show you my written content? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spconnor (talkcontribs) 14:01, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
@Spconnor: First, you seem to be evading the question. I did not ask if you edit independently. I asked if you are in any way related to All India Management Association (paid or otherwise) or to any of the editors which were reverted or blocked. Second, I think you misunderstood the page history. I do not own this article and I never asked to be consulted before edits are made. The way things work in Wikipedia is through the BOLD, revert, discuss cycle (BRD). If you think you can improve an article you go ahead and edit it. If another editor objects, they may revert and ask for discussion, which is what I did in some cases. Discussion before making an edit is required only if one thinks their edit may be objectionable, and should take place on the article talk page, not on my talk page. --Muhandes (talk) 20:58, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
@Muhandes: I don't take (paid) for my edit, I feel if there is a history of All India Management Association the page will look better and that will be useful to the knowledge seeker. Spconnor (talk)
@Spconnor: And again, you evade the question. Are you in any way related to All India Management Association or to any of the editors which were reverted or blocked? Until you answer this question fully, and disclose any connections you may have to the subject matter, I am not interested in continuing this discussion. --Muhandes (talk) 19:58, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
@Muhandes:I am an independent Wikipedian. I am not related to All India Management Association and not related to any other previous editor. Spconnor (talk) 05:52, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
@Spconnor: Then go ahead and edit. If you think your edit may be objectionable, discuss it at the article talk page. Have fun. --Muhandes (talk) 07:36, 15 June 2018 (UTC)
@Spconnor: I am trying hard to assume good faith but you are making this difficult. I don't know what your game is, but I do suggest you stop playing it. --Muhandes (talk) 12:13, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

Re: Maharaja Surajmal Institute Of Technology (I doubt mostof information on it's wikipage is Wrong)

Sir, This post is regarding Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology The name of all the executives is wrong here moreover it's a private college and is presented as a government college. Since it's a private college Lieutenant Governor Of Delhi cannot be its Chancellor, Prof. Anil Kumar Tyagi is the VC of GGSIPU and not Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology. I doubt that all the information presented on its wiki page is fake. How do I know All This? Since college admission season is going on in India, my child is searching for a college to take admission. When we went to this particular college today, after reading about it on its Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology page. We talked to many students and faculty studying in this college, they told that the placements are not as good as listed in its Wikipedia it's sort of average. I guess this wiki page is created for college promotion. I don't know how this page missed Wikipedia's verification. Also, most of the information about such colleges is wrong on Wikipedia, either delete these pages or correct them. Wrong information leads to a lots of confusion. What you said amounts to "I'll do what I want and I don't care about your stupid rules and guidelines". --Muhandes (talk) 13:53, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
you are the one who's being disruptive here and bullying around.try this in US,UK universities, you will be shown your place. plus I highly doubt your academic credentials and why would edit Indian education articles when you are from Israel, never been to India or studied here?! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.95.20.163 (talk) 14:02, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
You should avoid ad hominem arguments. Who I am is beside the point (although I am who I say I am). There are policies and guidelines which reflect consensus and your edit is against them. I listed them for you so you could see exactly what the problems are and what you need to fix. Instead of correcting the problems (for example, removing Indic script is easy) you come to my talk page and throw ridiculous accusations. By doing this you are, again, saying "I don't care about policies and guidelines, I'll do what I want and see if I care". Lets see where this goes. --Muhandes (talk) 14:15, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
There's nothing there to be corrected.you made personal remarks to which i replied. look at at your main page, no highly-educated individual that you claim to be, uses such language. what do you have to say about the replies with regards to the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.95.20.163 (talk) 14:18, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
What replies? You violate the guidelines. You explain why the guidelines are bad, but that is not a reply. Again, ad hominem arguments are pointless. --Muhandes (talk) 14:22, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
please stick to one page. you are the one who's crossing their limits! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.95.20.163 (talk) 14:26, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
By all means, lets stick to the article's talk page. I apologise for answering here. --Muhandes (talk) 14:30, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Regarding the article Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College Reply

Thanks for your contribution to the page, but, you removed the "native names" of the college from the infobox. And, native names are supposed to be in native languages, i.e. Indic Languages in this case. I read MOS: INDICSCRIPT. It advises to avoid writing in Indic Script because it might create problems with "verifiability of the accuracy of the non-English spelling". But, in this case you can clearly use the Google Translator to verify the native names. If writing the native name in native script is not in accordance with MOS, then why is the "native name" space given in the infobox? Suman chowdhury 22 (talk) 15:38, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

@Suman chowdhury 22: I'm sorry, but MOS:INDICSCRIPT is not "advisory", it is a guideline (read, "rule") which is a result of multiple RFCs, latest of which is this one. As such, it reflects the community's consensus. You are free to try to convince the community that they "can clearly use the Google Translator to verify the native names", but until you do so, and this Manual of Style guideline is removed, kindly don't go against the consensus. As for the native name field, it is there for other languages and scripts. Indic scripts should not be used. I hope this answers your question. --Muhandes (talk) 16:05, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

IIEST

Their is nothing called Indian Institutes of Engineering Science and Technology. Only one IIEST present in India is called Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur...Better search on internet...Govt of India cancelled more IIEST.Soo that fake wikipedia page must be moved or deleted.Otherwise it will create confusion among peoples. Santanu Gorai (talk)

@Santanu99: I'm happy that at last you decided to stop the disruptive editing and discuss things instead. The article Indian Institutes of Engineering Science and Technology is about the future IIESTs. What you are saying, in Wikipedia parlance, is that since the other IIESTs were canceled (a fact that is missing from the article), the article should be merged into Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur. This is not the same as redirecting, which you tried to do. I have no clear opinion on this matter yet, but if this is indeed what you are suggesting, you probably want to please follow these instructions:
  1. Familiarize yourself with the process of merging. Specifically, it seems you are claiming there is an overlap between the two articles so they should be merged.
  2. Follow the instructions on proposing a merge.
  3. If consensus is to merge, the articles will be merged.
If you need any assistance, I will be happy to do that, time permitting. But please, please, please, stop the disruptive editing and discuss things. --Muhandes (talk) 07:19, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Indic script

Yes, I understand MOS:INDICSCRIPT but here is no controversy regarding the name of this institute in Hindi. That is the official name. Can't you see the website, why remove instantly verifiable information? Harsh Rathod Poke me! 16:01, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

@Harshrathod50: I know this aggravates some editors, but I'm afraid MOS:INDICSCRIPT holds even if there is no controversy. I wont go into the reasons, you can read the multiple RFCs on the subject over the years. If you want to improve the article, why not supply some reliable secondary sources for other facts you added? Off course beware of your obvious WP:COI. If you rather not edit the article (which is a good idea in your situation) I'd be happy to help if you supply the material. --Muhandes (talk) 16:21, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

You are right at your place. Rules are rules but deep inside I feel this policy is so wrong. If such complicated scripts such as Japanese and Chinese are freely used in infoboxes and lead then why not Hindi? This policy looks like conspiracy against Hindi-script on whole Wikipedia to me. I was thinking to protest against this policy but I will need a base of strong arguments before that. Harsh Rathod Poke me! 16:47, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

Things don't happen in vacuum. The reason the whole thing started was repeated disruptive editing by multiple editors on multiple pages. I can say I sympathize with both sides. --Muhandes (talk) 18:42, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

Yes things happen in vacuum, look, I wasn't there when this policy was framed. So it did happen in vacuum if you think from my side. Moreover, this policy is the best example of lazy work because instead of regulating the use of Hindi-script, they entirely eliminated it. These are the consequences when editors of high XP and same mentality come together. They should've framed this policy in favour of those editors who were adding the Hindi-script here, not against them. Harsh Rathod Poke me! 04:46, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

I hear what you are saying and as I said, I sympathize with both sides. --Muhandes (talk) 07:53, 13 November 2018 (UTC)

Dilemma

Finding proof for this will be very hard since I will need to ask the H.O.D. herself for the legal documents of the accreditation after explaining why I need that. Or maybe they just need to update the website to show the accreditation info. Harsh Rathod Poke me! 20:14, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

@Harshrathod50: It is usually pretty easy to do. In most cases the accrediting institutes hold some list on their website. Both the AICTE and the NBA used to have such lists. A second possibility is that the institute has uploaded the documents to their website, which most institutes do anyway to impress candidates. I you wish to avoid editing the article yourself, list the sources on the talk page and ping me, I'd be happy to assist. --Muhandes (talk) 08:27, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

Change of vodafone idea banner

I feel that the current banner/logo of vodafone idea limited page is not good. so i uploaded the alternate images. You always reject my images. I always failed to update the images of Vodafone Idea limited banner. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.240.226.178 (talk) 06:04, 1 December 2018 (UTC)

Dear Arivu.vp (assuming this is you since that's the only edit I ever reverted on Vodafone Idea Limited). The only edit I ever reverted was one which tried to use this image. If you look at the description, it says "My Proposed Logo for Vodafone Idea Limited". If this is your proposed logo, you should contact Vodafone and propose it to them. Your own proposals have no place on Wikipedia. Other then that revert, I have no idea what you are talking about. --Muhandes (talk) 15:47, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
Correction, I have now reverted another edit, just because we need to keep the size of free usage icons down. I still don't think this is a real logo, but it is better than what we had. --Muhandes (talk) 15:54, 1 December 2018 (UTC)

@Arivu.vp: It's a bad image. The background isn't uniform and the text below is most likely redundant. However, it is better than what we had before and it is not a "proposed logo". I expect a better image will replace it at some point. --Muhandes (talk) 16:31, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

Institutes of National Importance

Hey, I have restored the central universities listing on INIs wiki page. I am surprised why didn't you contest the removal this time? And, as you rightly said before, why a central university can't be an Institutes of National Importance? The cited act clearly mentioned the INI in the very first paragraph. Neurofreak (talk) 22:17, 22 December 2018 (UTC)

Either I didn't notice it or I did and I couldn't be bothered. If I see something that needs fixing I may fix it, but mostly I'm removing all pages having to do with WP:INEI out of my watch list. You can say the bad guys won in this battle. --Muhandes (talk) 22:40, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
Oh, it's really sad to hear that you lost interest in WP:INEI. But, anyway we are immensely grateful to you for all your efforts to the WP:INEI. Thank you! Neurofreak (talk) 22:42, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
@Neurofreak: Don't get me wrong, I'm still happy to assist with templates, and I still intend to work on some university list articles as an off project, for example creating stubs for missing universities. I just can't get myself to watch articles which are constantly used for promotion, boosterism and general bickering, and I lost faith that Wikipedia is capable of improving in this sense. --Muhandes (talk) 16:40, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
Okay, I am glad. The universities listing articles you edited are perfect. I will add those in my watchlist. We need more neutral Wikipedians and I am trying to become one as well. Neurofreak (talk) 20:47, 26 December 2018 (UTC)

@Riyakeyatanmayee: First, I left you a message on your talk page regarding possible conflict of interest in regards to Marathwada Institute of Technology, and I ask that you familiarize yourself with that material. Regarding the alumni section that I deleted, the first sentence is completely promotional and has no place in an encyclopedia. As for the rest, none of the actual facts were attributed to reliable independent sources. In general, we are less interested in what the institute has to say about itself and more interested in the commentary of secondary sources. --Muhandes (talk) 14:59, 8 January 2019 (UTC)

Germany

Hi Muhandes, Over at Template:Single chart you've updated Germany however on all articles it now says "songid field is MANDATORY FOR GERMAN CHARTS" - If German charts go by songid then you need to fix each and every article where this template is used, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 19:07, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

@Davey2010: See discussion at Template talk:Single chart#Parameter name. To summarize, either |id= or |songid= must be used. The former was mandatory for quite a while, I just made the latter a preferable alternative. The message says "songid" because that's the preferable one. We don't need to go over all 6,000 usages and correct it, although I did make a bot request to do that, just for cleanliness. --Muhandes (talk) 19:26, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
Hi, Well you can atleast revert this change until you can get something sorted ? .... Given this is used on over 6 thousand articles you need to get a bot to do the updating (or you might be able to use AWB but don't quote me on that), Either way your changes cannot remain as is, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 20:14, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
@Davey2010: I think you misunderstand (or I do). I didn't make |songid= mandatory. There are no 6,000 articles impacted. The change I made has no effect at all on anything since it takes the previous variable as a default. Can you please explain what is the problem? --Muhandes (talk) 23:52, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
Addendum: Anyway, this effort is something which is in the doing for maybe six months now. If you have any concerns, why don't you join the discussion at Template talk:Single chart? I am just implementing whatever the consensus is. --Muhandes (talk) 23:58, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

I am Saurabh Mishra, inform you that A. S. College, Deoghar is known as Satsang College because this college is located in Satsang Nagar of Deoghar. This is a government college And I have studied from this college. And this college has been recognized by the NAAC. You can visit this college website and see. And do not do some editing without knowing, no person is always the principal, currently A.S. college's principal is Dr. Somnath Mishra and this college was established on July 31, 1969. Ours is one of the oldest colleges in the country ,rather than editing the page again and again ,why don't you research yourself but I know that you very well know the truth . Infobox India university ranking

Hi Muhandes. Would you mind taking a look at the {{Infobox India university ranking}} template being used in SRM Institute of Science and Technology#Rankings? When you open the edit window for that section, there are a number of parameters being flagged as "unknown", but the template still seems to be working. I think it has to do with the year added onto the end of the parameters since the template only seems to want the latest values being used. Since you've been editing that template, I thought you might know why this is happening. -- Marchjuly (talk) 13:38, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: You got it exactly right, this is by design. Since consensus is that when a newer ranking exists, older ones should not be used, but on the other hand, making the citations invalid will violate WP:V, the decision was made to only show editors that there is a problem, without influencing the article. --Muhandes (talk) 20:08, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

Request you to re-look at edits reverted

Hi, you have reverted many of my edits. I understand they might sound too positive as they are taken from university official websites. You remove details of programs offered as it violates your policy which I didn't notice.

However, I request you to re-look at the rankings sections, history section and general introduction section of my edits because they do not even have any tones. They are written in general objective tone. All information is available in public domain on university websites themselves and also there is no way to paraphrase such things and also things like vision, mission and values. I don't know why accreditation sections are also removed. University being recognized by a statutory authority or private body is very general information like for example UGC recognition or AICTE approvals etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by One692 (talkcontribs) 15:37, 14 June 2019 (UTC)

One692 - Looking through your contributions (as well as what you stated here), you appear to be adding content by copying it straight from external websites and sources. This is not allowed and is a serious violation of Wikipedia's policies on copyright. Repeated copyright violations can result in being blocked from editing. Please add content by entering it using your own words. Even close paraphrasing (where you copy and paste content from somewhere else and then just change a few key words and phrases) is not okay; you need to use your own words and cite sources wherever you use a source to add the content. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:53, 14 June 2019 (UTC)

Your edit on pgimer

The reversion of edit on pgimer is pretty bad. You should check the NIRF ranking by yourself. Why should you revert a fact? Do you have Ulterior motives? Thumbs down. Vishnudev01 (talk) 07:10, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

See the harvard medical school page.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvard_Medical_School

They have told it as tbe best institution in tbe world and has not even quoted any official survery. If you are wary of my edit being a promotional gimmick(which I dont need as PGI is a government institute), go edit the Harvard Page too. Vishnudev01 (talk) 07:20, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

@Vishnudev01: Please stop edit warring, see WP:BRD. You made an edit which I reverted. Restoring the edit without discussion is disruptive.
Regarding motives, I think my list of contributions speaks for itself. I have made many thousands of edits to education in India articles including developing {{Infobox India university ranking}}, which is used in almost every single one of them. But since you asked, you made me wonder about your motives. You already hinted that you are a member of the "medical fraternity", but are you related in any way to Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research? You did not edit any other similar article. I have clearly stated my alma mater at my user page. Before throwing mud at other people, you should try to be as open.
Regarding the edit itself, the ranking is already listed in the article. The consensus for education in India articles is that listing it in the lead is promotional. See also WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Further discussion on how to improve the article should take place at the article's talk page. --Muhandes (talk) 07:56, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
