2021 london marathon

apologies if i had caused an edit conflict with this edit. i had only been trying to fix the reference error, and had not been paying attention to where the error was located, so i had missed your "in use" tag for the section in which i found the error.

also, your link for the wheelchair winners does not seem to link directly to the wheelchair winners for me. does it still work for you? if not, the "winners.wheelchair" source i added in this edit may be helpful. however, i archived it shortly after schär won, so you may not want to use that exact url. dying (talk) 12:30, 3 October 2021 (UTC)

Dying No worries, I think we may have edit conflicted. It seems my URL seems to default to just the elite event, which wasn't what I wanted, so just done a re-archiving of that page (as only 1 woman had finished when it was archived), and looks good now. Since you were on a marathon of your own today...

  The Running Man Barnstar
For work before, during, and after today's event, I award an appropriately animated and athletic barnstar to you. Great work today! Now sleep well and rehydrate. BusterD (talk) 21:30, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
BusterD Thanks, I made it my goal to try and make it ITN-worthy, and eventually to GA status like the 2020 article. Joseph2302 (talk) 06:00, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
Did you run the marathon, Joseph? Or is this just referring to your "marathon" effort in getting the article into shape?!  — Amakuru (talk) 10:27, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
I watched a bit from near to my house, but writing marathon articles is my marathon limit ;) Joseph2302 (talk) 10:29, 4 October 2021 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of 2021 London Marathon

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article 2021 London Marathon you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria.   This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of GhostRiver -- GhostRiver (talk) 05:21, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

New Wikipedia Guideline Proposed which you might be interested in.

Hello. I am letting editors know who participated in the recent discussions that decided whether the Killing of David Amess should be called "killing, murder, or assassination", about a new Wikipedia essay being proposed for a new guideline. The essay, Wikipedia:Assassination, explains how the common definition of "assassination" does not determine an article's title. Only reliable sources can determine whether it is murder/killing or assassination. Since you participated in those recent discussions, I wanted to drop a message to you about this new proposal. If you want to leave your opinion about it, you can do so in this discussion. Have a good day and keep up the good editing! Elijahandskip (talk) 01:43, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

Elijahandskip Is this different to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (violence and deaths), which already tells people not to use assassination (and which people continue to ignore)? Joseph2302 (talk) 15:18, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
Actually, yes, it is slightly different. Also, that policy does not mention or touch on the term “assassination” at all. Basically, per a few discussions over the years, we have a general consensus that Wikipedia should use the term that RS use, despite the definition of assassination. The essay basically just puts that in writing so editors can reference it in the future when such discussions come up. Elijahandskip (talk) 15:39, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

Discussion about Afghan flag in football

Hi, you reverted my edit saying This was discussed at WT:FOOTY, the football team don't use Taliban flag. Could you please point me towards that discussion? I quite actively follow WT:FOOTY, and the only discussion I'm aware of since the change of the Afghan flag is this one which is about changing the flag for games and tournaments which took place before the change of the flag. Please show me where it was discussed to use the former flag for current games/tournaments/status/etc. ---SuperJew (talk) 12:47, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

That's the one I was referring to. Though I see no evidence that any Afghan sports team will use the Taliban flag, so it seems like WP:OR to use it on our football articles. Joseph2302 (talk) 13:03, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
Do you see any evidence that sports teams will continue using the former flag? If there is no evidence either way, the default is to use the nation's current flag. --SuperJew (talk) 14:43, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
FYI, there's a discussion about it at Talk:2022 AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualification#Afghanistan flag (I found this discussion from WT:FOOTY). Joseph2302 (talk) 09:19, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

A kitten for you! also what I'm doing.

I'm trying to get 10 edits to change the title of a page, Specifically the page "Yeah, but Still Podcast" to Yeah, but Still, because that's the name of the podcast, not "Yeah, but Still Podcast" but "Yeah, but Still". It is my understanding that you have to have at least 10 edits to move or change the name of a page, so I'm just trying to get those out of the way. Sorry for any inconvenience. I'm also pretty new, this is the only way I know how to direct message another user here. If you would be so kind, could you change the title of it? thank you!

Dont stop get it get it (talk) 15:21, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

Cool, I've just moved it, since I agree that's the proper name. Joseph2302 (talk) 15:23, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
