2020 Sakhir Grand Prix
Hi, I've moved Draft:2020 Sakhir Grand Prix to 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix - however my move has bypassed the AfC review. (But your AfC comment is recorded there in the article's history). I hope that won't be a problem. The move was requested at the RMT. Regards ─ The Aafī (talk) 14:16, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
- Fine by me, thanks. Joseph2302 (talk) 14:34, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 1 December. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 2 December. It will be on all wikis from 3 December (calendar).
Future changes
- The iOS Wikipedia app will show readers more of the article history. They can see new updates and easier see how the article has changed over time. This is an experiment. It will first be shown only to some iOS app users as a test. [1][2]
- The Wiki Replicas can be used for SQL queries. You can use Quarry, PAWS or other ways to do this. To make the Wiki Replicas stable there will be two changes. Cross-database
JOINS
will no longer work. You can also only query a database if you connect to it directly. This will happen in February 2021. If you think this affects you and you need help you can post on Phabricator or on Wikitech. [3]

DYK for Eric Kimaiyo
On 5 December 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Eric Kimaiyo, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Eric Kimaiyo won the 2003 Baltimore Marathon in a sprint finish with one of the athletes that he trained? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Eric Kimaiyo. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Eric Kimaiyo), and it may be added to the statistics page if it received over 400 views per hour. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
2021 Formula One World Championship
Hi. The data I added to the page is verifiable but linking the sources seems a bit of a stretch.
There will likely be another mid-season switch between George Russell and Mercedes. This is in fact very close to becoming a reality if Russell does a similar job with Williams in the early races of 2021 as he did with Mercedes at the 2020 Sakhir GP.
@Joseph2302 I am so sorry.
TheNCVyt20 (talk) 11:17, 7 December 2020 (UTC)The NCV — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheNCVyt20 (talk • contribs) 11:02, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- All information needs to be sourced using reliable sources- Wikipedia goes on what other sources (newspapers, websites, the F1 teams) say, not what people "know to be true". Also, we only add F1 drivers to season articles once their team has confirmed it- otherwise it's speculation. Joseph2302 (talk) 11:09, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- @TheNCVyt20: I agree with Joseph2302. Stating that Russell will move to Mercedes for 2021 (if Hamilton doesn't extend his contract) is speculation, regardless of how many journalists are speculating about it (see specifically the 5th point of WP:CRYSTAL, I know neither Russell nor Hamilton are "products" but the same logic applies). Encylopedia don't deal in rumours

Recent changes
- You can now put pages on your watchlist for a limited period of time. Some wikis already had this function. [4][5]
Changes later this week
- Information from Wikidata that is used on a wiki page can be shown in recent changes and watchlists on a Wikimedia wiki. To see this you need to turn on showing Wikidata edits in your watchlist in the preferences. Changes to the Wikidata description in the language of a Wikimedia wiki will then be shown in recent changes and watchlists. This will not show edits to languages that are not relevant to your wiki. [6][7]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 8 December. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 9 December. It will be on all wikis from 10 December (calendar).
Future changes
- You can vote on proposals in the Community Wishlist Survey between 8 December and 21 December. The survey decides what the Community Tech team will work on.

re.: Gerard Schurmann
Hi Joseph, what do I need to do to reinstate the content for Gerard Schurmann on Wikipedia? The information under my "Lasovich" pen name was created by me from publicity material in the public domain. I cited The Gramophone as a source, but their obituary also used public domain publicity from Gerard's publisher Wise Music. Thank you for your help. Carolyn Schurmann Lasovich (talk) 17:39, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
- That website [9] is copyrighted- it says copyright MA Business & Leisure Ltd, 2020. Wikipedia doesn't accept copyrighted materials, and that website suggests it isn't public domain content. Joseph2302 (talk) 19:31, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
Yuki Tsunoda
Please, tell me where it says 38 to be Tsunoda's number? When I go to https://www.scuderiaalphatauri.com/en/alphatauri-drivers/ It clearly lists Gasly as #10 and Tsunoda as #22. 38 was Tsunoda's number last yera and while testing when he hadn't chosen a number. FIN-AutoBiography (talk) 14:24, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
So, where is the 38? FIN-AutoBiography (talk) 14:29, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- Where the 22 is showing on the image, I was seeing a 38- Alpha Tauri must have put 38 on that page initially and changed it (and my computer cached the old page). Apologies for the confusion, I agree that site is now showing 22. Joseph2302 (talk) 14:36, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

DYK for Halina Kwiatkowska
On 21 December 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Halina Kwiatkowska, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. Tech News
- Because of the holidays the next issue of Tech News will be sent out on 11 January 2021.
Recent changes
- The
{{citation needed}}
template shows when a statement in a Wikipedia article needs a source. If you click on it when you edit with the visual editor there is a popup that explains this. Now it can also show the reason and when it was added. [10]
Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week or next week.
Future changes
- You can propose and discuss what technical improvements should be done for geographic information. This could be coordinates, maps or other related things.
- Some wikis use LanguageConverter to switch between writing systems or variants of a language. This can only be done for the entire page. There will be a
<langconvert>
tag that can convert a piece of text on a page. [11] - Oversighters and stewards can hide entries in Special:AbuseLog. They can soon hide multiple entries at once using checkboxes. This works like hiding normal edits. It will happen in early January. [12]

About logo
Hi! Recently, I have see your comment and read about WP:NFCCP I understand as well this WP. But the logo of LPL is obtained/source from LPL. So, I don't think it was copyrighted. I think it is copyright free and it should be place anywhere in this project. As optional see [13] Thanks (Fade258 (talk))
- Fade258 The LPL logo is copyrighted (because images are assumed to be copyrighted unless there is evidence to the contrary, and LPL don't seem to have a free licence for it). For fair use images like the one you mentioned, they should only be used minimally i.e. fine to use on Lanka Premier League article, but not on templates (which is forbidden by WP:NFCCP). If the LPL has a logo that just says LPL (like IPL has one that just says IPL), then that would be not copyrightable, and could be used anywhere. Joseph2302 (talk) 19:04, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
It's me there again recently the image of LPL has been uploaded to WikiProject LPL.So,that image is copyright free or not if it was copyright free then that can be used in anywhere. Best Regards! (Fade258 (talk))

DYK for Marjatta Väänänen
On 25 December 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Marjatta Väänänen, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 1975, Finland's Minister of Education Marjatta Väänänen sent a petition to the Archbishop of Turku with almost 1 million signatures, advocating for the introduction of female priests? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Marjatta Väänänen. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Marjatta Väänänen), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Squad templates
Hi, Joseph, besides these roster templates, there also exists squad templates like Template:Colombo Kings squad (from LPL), Template:Karachi Kings squad (from PSL) and Template:Kolkata Knight Riders squad (from IPL). Like roster templates, do you think that they should also be nominated for deletion or kept for need. I see no need of these templates. Thank you. Empire AS Talk! 12:12, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- Empire AS Those squad templates look okay, as they help navigate between pages (which is an appropriate use for a template), and are used in many sports articles. Joseph2302 (talk) 14:19, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
Apology for Canvassing
Hello, I replied on my Talk Page but thought it warranted an apology here. As I said there I am sorry for breaking WP:CANVASSING, I did not realize I was breaking the guidelines. I have since reverted all edits. Please notify me if there is anything else I need to do. Once again I am sincerely sorry. Thanks for your understanding. CreativeNorth (talk) 16:59, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
- Looks all fine, apology accepted. It seems obvious to me that it wasn't intentional. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:20, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
- (tps) Perhaps he did't know about canvassing. Moreover, he said at the project's talk page only to vote (not to vote for keep or delete) as I remember. Even if he did't told us about this AfD, we may know about that as we were watching that article and also article alerts for that project were enabled. Speaking honestly, he hadn't such an intention. Thank you. Empire AS Talk! 19:17, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
