Don't forget to sign on talk pages

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as on User talk:Act like a sticky wikit, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button   or   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 22:01, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

Ok thanks for letting me know Jeffrd10 (talk) 22:03, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

May 2013

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at William Vorilong. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.

And most of all please refrain from leaving thoughtless messages like the above on the talk pages of people who actually improve articles. Removing a claim that someone influenced someone else who was long dead before the supposed influencer was born is not vandalism. I suggest that you stop doing any vandal patrolling until you can stop biting the newbies with your ill thought out actions.--88.108.48.141 (talk) 09:35, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Okay. Thanks for the reply. The thing to be aware of is that this sort of warning message is often the first thing that a new editor sees and mistakes can reduce their willingness to participate further. Wrong-headed administrative action is probably the biggest cause for the loss of potentially good editors but careless use of automated tools is up there too. For your information, I became aware of your revert through this thread on Wikipediocracy. It demonstrates how easy it is for information about you (in this case your age) to appear elsewhere in the web after you leave it on the user page. It's a reason why sometimes young people's names and pictures get removed from their user pages. I don't know whether Mentifesto related to the Wikipediocracy post.--88.108.48.141 (talk) 19:25, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi, Jeffrd10, you'll likely not be pleased about this but I have suppressed some of your edits because they reveal too much personally identifiable information about you. We have a policy of protecting editors' safety by hiding such information if they share it. I'm really sorry about having to suppress your edits, and I know it's annoying, but it's for the best. Please don't re-add the information. For some useful information on privacy and safety, you can take a look at Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors and Wikipedia:On privacy, confidentiality and discretion. Thanks, and sorry for messing about with your pages! -- Mentifisto 11:01, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

infobox Song Duk-ki

Hi Jeffrd10! Thank you for your help! In the article Song Duk-ki, I would like to insert this infobox:

{{Infobox martial artist | name = Song Duk-ki, 송덕기 | image = | image_size = | caption = | birth_name = | birth_date = (1893-01-19)January 19, 1893 | birth_place = Seoul, Korea | death_date = July 23, 1987(1987-07-23) (aged 94) | death_place = | death_cause = | other_names = Song Deok-gi, Song Dok-ki | residence = South Korea | nationality =   South Korea | style = Taekkyon | stance = | trainer = Im Ho | rank = Grandmaster | years_active = | occupation = | university = | spouse = | relatives = | students = [[Shin Hans-seung] and many others | club = | school = | url = | footnotes = | updated = 2013-05-08}}

However, it just does not come out as it is supposed to be. I copied this box from the article Hwang Kee. Actually, I did not change much, just some of the values, of course. Did I delete an important character? I cannot find the error... Thanks again! --88.71.20.139 (talk) 22:09, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Your request for rollback

Hi Jeffrd10. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Beeblebrox (talk) 19:55, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Your revert

Any reason you restored vandalism that I reverted, then templated me for making an unconstructive edit? — MusikAnimal talk 14:30, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for trying to keep Wikipedia free of vandalism. However, one or more edits you labeled as vandalism are not considered vandalism under Wikipedia policy. Wikipedia has a stricter definition of the word "vandalism" than common usage, and mislabeling edits as vandalism can discourage newer editors. Please read Wikipedia:NOTVAND for more information on what is and is not considered vandalism. Thank you. -- Aunva6talk - contribs 16:18, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

  • OK, that's too many mistakes. I've removed rollback until you have proven that you can be trusted with the tool. I'm not the brains of the outfit, but I think you just disabled IGLOO? That is a good move. Please take your time and look at edits and their context before you revert. You may reapply for rollback whenever you like, but my suggestion is that you wait a while and do it by hand for the time being. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 16:33, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

sorry about that mistake for some reason my anti-vandal tool Chopped of the top part of the coment so all I saw was this "content "Usually, you can find Uranium at your local Walmart, or if you're lucky, CVS. Uranium isn't a metal at all. In fact, it's a swine's penis." (I don't know who put it in.)12.228.46.48 (talk) 14:14, 28 October 2013 (UTC)" so the content looked like vandlism. Article creation note (from IRC help channel conversation)

Hi Jeff. I noticed a few minutes ago that you gave a user in the #wikipedia-en-help channel inaccurate information. I tried to bring it up to you on IRC, but your connection pinged out, so I'm posting here to make sure you get the correction. You told a helpee a few minutes ago that until they had twenty edits, their account wouldn't be autoconfirmed, and that until their account was autoconfirmed, they couldn't create an article. Neither of those things is true - the +autoconfirmed userright is assigned after 10 edits and 4 days (unless the user has the IP block exempt right as well), and any account, whether autoconfirmed or not, can create articlespace pages. The only users not able to create articlespace pages are IPs. Please, please in the future make sure that the information you give to helpees is accurate. If you aren't sure of something, check the policy onwiki before you say it. If you don't know something, don't say that you do. You're not obligated to try to help people who you don't have the expertise to help; people come to the help channel to get help from people who know how things work, and it's worse than useless for "helpers" to give wrong facts. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 19:45, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

sorry about the wrong information the dudes account was 2 weeks old so i thought that he didn't need to know about the 4 day waiting period and for the 20 edit thing that was my bad i misclicked because i was typing 2 fast but then when i noticed my mistake it was to late to tell him. --Jeffrd10 (talk) 19:53, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Labour Party Rule Book

Please can I ask you to expand your closing rationale for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Labour Party Rule Book? Specifically, I'm very surprised that you found a consensus to keep by anything other than vote counting. There were delete rationales given in my nomination and by AllyD, and a rebuttal to TIYAN's keep (whether it was successfully rebutted or not is a judgement call obviously). The other keeps were completely without rationale at all, even when specifically asked for. Finally the long comment by PWilkinson was, as I read it, arguing that a notable article on this topic could possibly be written but that this article contained none of what such an article would require.

I know I'm biased in this, but I'm completely failing to see how that was a strong consensus for anything - relisting again, no consensus or weak delete I could see as reasonable outcomes, but certainly not an unexplained strong keep.

For the record that this was a non-admin closure is not part of the reason I'm disagreeing with this. Thryduulf (talk) 10:46, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Stone of Losses

Please note that when performing non-admin AfD discussion closures, it's important to add part of the AfD template from the article to the article's talk page (e.g. {{Old AfD multi|page=The Stone of Losses|date=13 January 2014|result='''keep'''}}), and that it needs to state the result of the close. After this, then the AfD template needs to be removed from the article. I've performed this for you at:

Please review and follow the procedures in entirety listed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Administrator instructions

Also, please read in entirety:

Thank you for your consideration. Northamerica1000(talk) 12:30, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Labour Party Rule Book

I've corrected some matters here too. Please note that the Archive top template goes at the very top of the discussion, above the header (diff). It's also very important to remove the AfD categorization template when closing a discussion. I've performed this for you at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Labour Party Rule Book, in which I've removed {{REMOVE THIS TEMPLATE WHEN CLOSING THIS AfD|O}}.

I have also removed the AfD template from the Labour Party Rule Book article and added the {{Old AfD multi|page=Labour Party Rule Book|date=31 December 2013|result='''keep'''}} notice to the Talk:Labour Party Rule Book page for you. Northamerica1000(talk) 12:35, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Carmel Moore deletion discussion

Hi Jeffrd10, I note that you are not a Wikipedia administrator, but might like to be one someday. Well, my name is Graemp, I am just a user but I do take time out to tackle over-zealous administrators and eat them for breakfast! Earlier today you got involved in a deletion discussion about Carmel Moore. Now I am not prepared to rule out the faint possibility that a 10 year old American boy might be knowledgeable about the British porn industry, but judging from your contribution, you did not impart any. Even someone with no knowledge of the subject can help the discussion if they can demonstrate a knowledge of wikipedia policies, but you didn't do this either as you merely repeated the policy headings of the administrator who started the discussion. There is nothing wrong with reading deletion discussions and then trying to assess the merits of the argument through WPs, but to do this constructively, it helps to wait and read more than just one comment from an administrator. Your early intervention concerned me as it immediately looked like something I had seen before - administrators ganging up on one side of a discussion. To me, this is akin to playground bullying and something that I have zero-tolerance of, much like you might have of vandalism. If ever you do become a wikipedia administrator, I hope you show greater restraint. Graemp (talk) 19:21, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Ok a few things: One The article sources were not sources that I would call Independent under WP:GNG. Second I don't see how the UK Adult Film and Television Awards are internationally recognised. Now maybe I don't know much about the porn industry But I'm allowed to Coment because I get the policies. I also didn't find the above comment civil so please keep your Comments about others Civil. Oh BTW I'm Fifteen and taking 3 college level courses and Im a Mathematical Biology.
I was going to leave it at that but your reply needs addressing - The article uses 5 sources. In my view three of those are clearly Independent sources, one is clearly not and the fifth source is inaccessible to me. Now that should be telling you something that you do not know as in accordance with the law in your country, all 5 sources should not be accessed by anyone who admits to being 15, (and indeed some would argue should be blocked to you) so there is no way that you should be able to form a sensible opinion on that point. As I said in my initial post to you, I think you are entitled to comment but have only offered brief statements about WPs that add nothing to a discussion. As regards civility, I don't see how you could possibly consider anything I said as un-civil. If you really do, and are offended, my advice to you is to steer well clear of discussions about adult related matters.Graemp (talk) 18:59, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
Ok let me say this the article sources I don't even have to open to disprove notability. A youtube video the actors webpage and one or two articles from small news sources don't prove nobility to me .Also if I may ask why did you bring your concerns to me a Fiveteen year old who Commented delete instead of the user that Nominated the article.--Jeffrd10 (talk) 15:08, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
The best way to deal with the nominator was in direct discussion at the point of friction. As I have said, it was nigh on impossible to respond to you in the same way because you did not present any case. I thought it was far better to address the issues with you in a more private area, hoping that you might learn something. I think this approach was the right one but alas it seems a futile one. Glitch at ANI

Hi, Jeffrd10. I had to revert your last edit to ANI because of a glitch; unfortunately, the content of the page had been rolled back 3 days. Stop stalking my edits.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 17:19, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Its not stalking I saw your edit using an anti vandal tool and was unsure on whether or not it violated WP:NAC. So I got some opinions on IRC to at what point I reverted your edit. It seems to me that the edit was made not because you care about WP:NOTDEMOCRACY and WP:POLL But because you don't want the topic discussed.--Jeffrd10 (talk) 17:25, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
I originally stated my opposition to the straw poll in my comment in the section. Straw polls have no place in policy making on Wikipedia.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 17:28, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
That is true yet I get the feeling that closing the discussion under the guise of it being a straw poll is more of a front for you to close the discussion because you oppose of it.--Jeffrd10 (talk) 17:36, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
Also Its not harassment I've done thing like this before to other editors And i'm not leading a vendetta against you. after the ANI feed that I stupidly stated I haven't Commented on any of the multiple ANI feeds about you or reverted any of your edits . Also I haven't been sitting at my computer Refreshing your user contribution page.--Jeffrd10 (talk) 17:36, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

  • Ok thanks for the message. Probably shouldn't have said The article is unsourced but said that the only source is the IMDB. CVU Training

Hi there!

I am a user who would like to get started with counter vandalism! You are not in my time zone (3 hours ahead, all the other Pacific time trainers are inactive) but it shouldn't be a problem. Please get back to me ASAP! I can't wait to start learning from you! AkifumiiTalk 03:08, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi again. I have completed a few questions on my CVU talk page. I have not finished yet however, can you review my answers and make sure I am on the right track? Thanks. AkifumiiTalk 17:36, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi there. I have actually completed my assignments however, I cant seem to find another "Good faith but unhelpful edit". You can take a look at my work on the talk page. I also have a few questions I hope you can answer.

1. I maybe would like to become a reviewer or rollback one day so can you add training to that too?

2. I have reverted a lot of vandalism in the past few days. Are my reverts legit and make sense to be reverted?

3. Can you be active online more often so I can reach you easily without having to wait or do you have other important things to do?

4. What happens if I fail 1 (or more) CVUA assignments?

5. About how long does CVUA training take to graduate?

AkifumiiTalk 02:41, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi akifumii I got a few answers to your questions.
  1. I'll see what I can do to teach you about rollback and reviewing when the time comes. I think that It would be wise to get through the "Knowledge and Understanding of Concepts" and "communication" section of the syllabus before you get admin rollback. However if you want twinkle has a Rollback function just like or better then the admin rollback tool so you might want to give that a look.
  2. your reverts are fine I wouldn't see any edit that would cause me or another editor concern.
  3. I know I haven't been as active I could have been in the past few days some of that is a local festival that is happening today another thing is that I've been busy with some real world things(skywarn) however I should be on IRC from 16:00-17:00 GMT so feel free to ask questions then.
  4. Failing an assignment won't be the end of the world And I won't send you back to wiki Kindergarten. If you fail an assignment Ill give you a few pointers and guidelines and let you redo the assignment. For me Education isn't about grades Its about learning and I much rather you fail an assignment and learn then pass an assignment and not learn anything.
  5. The time it takes to complete The CVUA varies by teacher and student. With your enthusiasm and my guidendence I think where looking at a one or two months at the most. --Jeffrd10 (talk) 12:48, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks so much! I appreciate your help! AkifumiiTalk 13:41, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

CVUA

Hi Jeff.

I would like to let you know that I would like to quit from your CVU training. I already have a pretty good understanding of countering vandalism and the culture of Wikipedia. I enjoyed taking your course (in only a few weeks) and don't think this training is necessary for me to continue. I have been granted rollback and reviewer by one of the admins here and promise to use it carefully. I plan to later become a trainer for the CVUA and mentor new students. Thank you for your time.  :) Akifumii (talk) 18:46, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

ok I completely understand If you want rollback and the like just do as much reverts as you can and then when you pass the 500 revert mark they should grant it to you. If you have any question feel free to still ask on my talk page.--Jeffrd10 (talk) 11:55, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi there Jeff. I already have these rights and they were granted by an admin who thought I deserved them and could use them well. Do you think it would be okay for me to start mentoring at CVUA? If not, what should I do first? Thanks. AkifumiiTalk 05:01, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

ok great. I think it is a good idea to wait a bit before you become an mentor. I waited untill have over 5000 edits to become an instructor. Also the CVUA also need more students than instructors so at this point i would just wait.--Jeffrd10 (talk) 12:00, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Mahfiruz

So you believe this false article, all this false history of this woman?

wow...well than ok...she was a native muslima and a native circassian and a relative to Handan and mahidevran sultan ...lol but this is not the truth and the members of the ottoman dynasty laughing about such selfmade stories. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.46.112.141 (talk) 14:27, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

If you believe that the information is wrong you can rewrite the article if you can back up your claims with a reliable source however what you may not do is remove most of the sourced information without consensus or even an edit summary explaining your actions.--Jeffrd10 (talk) 14:53, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

There was before correct, but just there is written without any sources and if they have one this is a false selfmade source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.46.112.141 (talk) 23:41, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

User page message #1

(Chemeleon Circuit)

Why isn't it relevant? Both mentioned members have admited to having sex with girls that said no. And this means the band may no longer be together.

My information is relevant and on topic, and If you gonna abuse you power as an admin I will complain.

Your probably just a fan, who doesn't want to accept the truth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheBlackParadeMCRAA (talkcontribs) 10:13, September 4, 2014

Thanks for your concern and not being passive when you think you're being abused. There are a few things you need to know however, First I am not an admin on the en-wiki however I would like to be one someday, Secondly we have very strict policies when it comes down to adding Information about living people. Wikipedia's policy on on information about living people In a nutshell is" Material about living persons added to any Wikipedia page must be written with the greatest care and attention to verifiability, neutrality, and avoidance of original research." So I think you can see how a unsourced statement such as "This is because members Edd Plant and Alex Day have been publicly shamed for being Paedophiles (Pervs, creeps, f***ed up people whatever you want to call them.)" would fail our WP:BLP policies on many fronts. Thank you for your concern and good luck editing.--Jeffrd10 (talk) 12:11, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
one more thing don't forget to add your signature by adding --~~~~ Thanks!--Jeffrd10 (talk) 12:11, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Editing of <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinlough> page

This was not me, nor do I think it was anyone who shares my IP address. I am a daily user of Wikipedia (often for several hours) and I think it is a brilliant resource. I wouldn't dream of making such ridiculous changes to it and 'trolling' the site in this manner. I'd be really grateful if you could recheck the details and make absolutely sure that an error has not been made.

For the record, I have never even been to Kinlough, and I know nothing about it. (Although I am from Leitrim).

Many thanks,

Thanks for your recent note, but I didn't post the edits you mentioned:

"Hello, I'm Jeffrd10. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Fly because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, you can use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! I used to have an account, but for some reason this year Wikipedia wouldn't let me sign on to that account no matter what I tried to do (even your admins couldn't help me!).

This was my old account:

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
