Well no it's promotional, not really. If it was Influencenycisthebest, and the first line was "This is the user page of the amazing Mark Rose, Partner at Influence Consulting Inc., the best company in the world", that would be promotional, what is stated there is fact. It seems you are not aware of how Wikipedia works. It was many hours old and had apparently stopped being an issue since the edits had stopped - AIV is for persistent vandals, we don't block an IP that stopped editing hours ago--Jac16888 ^Talk 21:09, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for taking the time to respond. If you don't mind I need a tip on how best to deal with this situation that arose at KRXI-TV. If you look at the last 3 pages of edit history there are dozens of edits from the same editor who is in the 75.15.*.* range, all without edit summary, and mostly deleting then re-adding the same content over and over. All of the references are either to Chengs or, as you just admitted, your own work, please read our policy page about referencing which I have pointed you to repeatedly for what we actually need. The entire article reads more like a fluff piece bio combined with a few scientific journals than an actual encyclopedia article. Deletion of article सीरियाई गृहयुद्ध

Hi! I'd like to know why you deleted my article 'सीरियाई गृहयुद्ध' which I was simply developing as a Hindi translation of the page 'Syrian Civil War' to enable Hindi readers to benefit, too? Was it because I didn't cite references? I was planning to do that once I was through with translating the article. What you've given as a reason is "article that duplicates an existing topic: Syrian civil war". Isn't that what a translated article is supposed to be? Deletion of article "Carmel (Car Service)"

Hello. This is Nir Kabessa, user nirkabessa. I was wondering what I need to do to NOT get my page deleted. It was deleted under the claim of unambiguous promotion. I am not doing this for promotion, I am genuinely trying to create an educational wikipage for the company my dad raised from the ground up. Look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hertz_Corporation. They do just as much to promote their company, if not more than I did on mine. What makes theirs stay up and mine deleted? The bio written for the band was from a neutral standpoint. From the claim you are making, you should be pretty busy deleting the rest of the band pages people have posted to the site. Though I also appreciate your music knowledge, as I am sure it is as good as your ability to delete pages, this band is notable, and you are not the say in whether or not they are anyways. Since you're saying "We" I'm assuming you are part of the company - I'm also basing this assumption on the fact that the article was a blatant advert, written from the point of view of the company. Since you have a clear conflict of interest and therefore an unavoidable bias you should not be writing about the company at all. Too many deletions based on notability

I think you delete articles too quickly based on what you see as a lack of notability. Your other reasons for deleting (not in English, biased/promotional, etc.) are good, but in my opinion, it harms Wikipedia significantly to delete sourced articles because they don't meet a subjective threshold of notability. Presumably you are primarily referring to Around (album), an article I deleted 2 years ago via Prod (A system where the slightest objection means that it must have a discussion before it can be deleted). Nobody objected to the prod, nor has any attempt to restore the page been made in the two years since there, which seems to me a pretty clear indicator of how important this album is. Deletion of Article "Cam Meekins"

Hi, it seems to me that the deletion of the page Cam Meekins on notability grounds was unwarranted. Cam Meekins is an artist signed to a major label (Giant Records/Atlantic Records) with multiple records on iTunes and other online/brick and mortar music vendors. He has headlined at least one national tour, and recently won "Best New Artist" at the Boston Music Awards. It seems like an article on Wikipedia would be valid for the many people (like myself) who would like to know more about him.

I don't know how the impartiality/formatting of the previous article was, but 1) It appears to be deleted solely on the grounds of notability and 2) even if the article was sub-par, a better course of action would be improvement rather than deletion. Furthermore, he is referenced on his brother's page (figure skater Drew Meekins) which contains third party sources referencing Cam Meekins, and the list of current Atlantic Records artists page, and he's been the subject of articles in the Boston Globe. It was very warranted. A) The page was blantaly promotional ("He also is the coolest person i know"), b) there was no indication of any notability, other than having made a few mix-tapes - none of the things you say above were mentioned, and having a famous brother does not make him notable, and c) there were no references to indicate any notability. I will not be restoring the article, if you think there should be one then you are welcome to use the WP:AFC system to attempt to write one yourself--Jac16888 ^Talk 12:40, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Obviously having a famous brother does not make one notable, but those other pages do show the article was not an island. I don't have time to write a whole article from scratch, but I might have time to edit and improve an existing one. Regardless, the significance and references exist to make this article legitimate.

Dude, where's my article?

Hi, I created a new article for Ty Granderson Jones. The article was deleted for copyright violation. However, the material I used was attributed, in the public domain, and had no copyright. I rewrote some of the article and and made the source more apparent:

There is nothing on the page to say it is public domain content as far as I can see, you should have just written the article from scratch rather than trying to change copied text. The article itself does little to suggest any real notability, and has no reliable sources or references--Jac16888 ^Talk 23:38, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Check the specific link that I used as a reference in the deleted article. Then check the entire website that the link I used as a reference belongs to. It's not copyrighted. . . it's in the public domain. But I rewrote some of the material anyway.

He was mentioned on other wikipedia articles as a cast member. Specifically, on CB4 and WIGS. However, he didn't have an article like the other cast members. This was one of the reasons why I created an article for him (I was going to create an article and link to it from those articles). I agree with you that it's best to err on the side of caution and assume copyright. That's why I rewrote the article even though there was no mention of copyright on the website.

No references? Are you sure we're talking about the same article? As for notability, I wasn't suggesting that simply being mentioned in another wikipedia article was evidence of notability. Just making an observation. . .

Changing a few words here and there is not enough - you should be writing in your own words, and unless the content is explictly shown to be free to use, you can't use it. And yes we're talking about the same article, I see a few press releases and vanity pages - these are not reliable references in any way--Jac16888 ^Talk 17:15, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Even content written in my own words can't avoid using certain phrases (like the names of the films and TV shows he's in, etc.). As for the copyright issue, I already agreed with you in my previous comment that it's best to err on the side of caution.

No, apparently we're not talking about the same article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ty_Granderson_Jones). The article didn't reference any "vanity pages". The subject is not an author and didn't pay anyone to publish any book. The article does use his personal website as a reference which is in line with wiki guidelines:

"Living persons may publish material about themselves, such as through press releases or personal websites. Such material may be used as a source only if:

"1. it is not unduly self-serving; 2. it does not involve claims about third parties; 3. it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject; 4. there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity; 5. the article is not based primarily on such sources."

In addition, the article uses reliable third-party sources like Playbill, Canyon News, the UCSD website, and the Internet Movie Database (who's content is reviewed by a section manager). However, even if the article didn't use any reliable sources, I think an article should be allowed to be improved over time by the editors and not be subject to the arbitrary whims of an administrator per wiki guidelines:

"An article without third-party sources should not always be deleted. The article may merely be in an imperfect state, and someone may only need to find the appropriate sources to verify the subject's importance. Consider asking for help with sources at the article's talk page, or at the relevant WikiProject. Also consider tagging the article with an appropriate template, such as {{primary sources}} or {{unreferenced}}."

You don't have to keep telling me what I wrote you, after all I wrote it. All you have done is paraphrased the content, which still makes it a copyvio. Self published references are not enough to establish notability (point 5 as you noted above "Such material may be used as a source only if...the article is not based primarily on such sources", and the other references provided do not do so either, to break them down: IMDB is not a reliable reference (Wikipedia:External links/Perennial websites#IMDb), the alumni page is self-published and therefore of no value, as his own website, the Canyon news page allows anybody to submit an article as has clearly happened here ("This article was a contribution made by an outside agency or person. The content has not been verified by Canyon News.") it is clearly just a press release, the SAG page is just a cv and the playbill is the only one which is just about passable - and it only mention him in passing. Barring the copyright issue for now, if you are unable to come up with better sources than these I will have to nominate this page for deletion - as it currently stands there is nothing to suggest it belongs here--Jac16888 ^Talk 21:32, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

I keep telling you what you wrote so you'll know what part of your comment I'm responding to. And because you have a tendency of being all over the place with what you write. First it was "copied text," so I rewrote the article. Then it was "no sources," so I pointed out the sources. Then it was no "reliable sources," so I showed how they were reliable. Now it's the source is "just about passable". So I'm obliged to point out that it's not "just about passable," but it is passable.

sigh You keep telling me what I wrote, and yet you don't seem to be paying any actual notice of it. The issue is not changing, the issue is all of them, it may be a copyvio and the sources are not reliable so there are effectively no sources. But fine, lets break this down:

His family moved there from New Orleans, Louisiana. He's a student of the late theatre director, Alan Schneider, and the late Lee Strasberg.". Different enough that I decided not to delete it outright, but still a little too close for comfort.

If you take away those that leaves only the playbill page and the Canyon page, neither enough to support the article

If the page is not based primarily on this, and it is not based on the self-published sources shown above, well there are no sources left. And you miss my point when stating the disclaimer, I am saying that this article is not published by Canyon, it is published by "Contributor" a person who, judging by the promotional language of the interview almost certainly has a vested interest the subject.

I am taking notice of what you write. . . I just don't agree with it. In fact, I was closer to your point of view at the beginning of this exchange than I am now. But the more I read your reasons, or rationalizations, for deleting the article, the less I find myself agreeing with your point of view. (Note: I'm talking about the current article, not the previous one. We were in agreement about the defects of that one.)

It's not copyvio. But you're right when you say it's "a little too close for comfort". To play it safe, it should be rewritten (which shouldn't be difficult since it's just a sentence). Though someone already inexplicably deleted the entire section, not just that one sentence.

Of course they don't support the article. How could one or two references support an entire article? One or two references can establish the notability of the subject and support a particular part of the article that is relevant to them. However, only in the aggregate can the references support the article as a whole. As I said in my previous comment, however, I think editors should be allowed to improve the article over time. Placing the appropriate template to alert other editors to what needs to be worked on, or improving it yourself, seems to be a better solution than just deleting it (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Third_party#Articles_without_third-party_sources). Isn't deleting an article when the problems (real or imagined) can be fixed by other editors a bit procrustean?

G4 deletion of Tekken 7

I'm not sure that your deletion of Tekken 7 under WP:CSD#G4 was appropriate. The discussion took place seven years ago. Surely, the situation for the game may have changed since then. EcoMagnesia

Hi! I had JUST written an article which was NOT ready ( article link : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EcoMagnesia). this article would be editted in the following days. "WikiDan61" had sent me a couple of messages about my article (that it was not english, that it should be translated / edited to English, and that there was a conflict about Wikipedia policies Article A7 [the reason you`ve deleted my article]). I wanted to write in the following day the importance of this text about EcoMagnesia, but as much as I can see, you did not give me enough time to set everything right. I do not understand the following: how am I supposed to write an article (which was going to be written in 4 different languages without using any translation applications / programs) in one day, OR edit an article in 30 minutes? the imporance of EcoMagnesia is significant. people from the outside would NEVER understand it by reading the text that I have written in an hour (and where I needed extra time). I have read your policy about Article A7. I would like to explain Ecomagnesia at the easiest way to you. EcoMagnesia is a University organisation with a pattented name which is not a student club which have got social activities (if it was a social organisation, then I would understand the erasement and respect your decision). EcoMagnesia is a society of Engineering Students, an organisation that has got a great effect on automotive industries. several industrial firms are in a co-operation with us for productional enhancements, design parameters, ecological production, automotive parts, innovations etc. the importance of this organisation is that it innovates, produces, designs parts that have got a great effect on automotive industries. The following I request is, could you please explain to me the reason of closing this toppic? We don't do "Not ready" in the article space, either write the article in English right away, write it on another language Wikipedia or work on it in your userspace. Having a patented named does not automatically make it notable, to show that you need reliable 3rd party references, of which there were none. Finally since you clearly are related to this group you have a clear conflict of interest you should not be writing about it anyway, see WP:COI. I have restored the article content to User:Kaganmeijer/EcoMagnesia, please do not move it back to the articlespace without going through the WP:AFC procedure--Jac16888 ^Talk 22:25, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Undeletion request

I would like to request undeletion of prodded List of MTV Unplugged albums. A majority of the albums have their own articles and sources can be added for the one's that don't. I ususally contribute only to the german WP, and found that article only while doing some housekeeping on Commons. That's why I know few about the deletion procedures here. I have restored the page to User:BinTeo/Matt Rockman, however please do not move it back to the mainspace, instead use the WP:AFC process. Of greater concern to me is that the page is completely and as far as I can see unsalvageable biased. Wikipedia is supposed to be neutral, and this page clearly isn't, particularly since you have an obvious conflict of interest--Jac16888 ^Talk 18:12, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
