DYK for Sabhyata Dwar

edit

On 10 June 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Sabhyata Dwar, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Sabhyata Dwar, an arch monument, bears inscriptions of Megasthenes, Ashoka, Buddha, and Mahavira? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Sabhyata Dwar. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Sabhyata Dwar), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hello, I'm Meters. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Upskirt ‎ have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help Desk. That was completely off-topic. There were absolutely no legal issues discussed in that source Meters (talk) 07:01, 17 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Lily Allen. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges. Stop spamming this article. It's not about her new album, and it not about legal issues related to upskirting. Meters (talk) 07:06, 17 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Farrah Abraham, you may be blocked from editing. And again, the same type of edit. We don't need an article about a voyeuristic picture as a reference in the first line of the lead. Meters (talk) 07:08, 17 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Abecedare (talk) 16:10, 15 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello Insaafbarua, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Moin Qureshi have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Widefox; talk 01:38, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove the {{copyviocore}} template from articles, as you did with Moin Qureshi. Your action has been reverted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept non-free text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted, and removing copyright notices will not help your case. You can properly contest the deletion at Wikipedia:Copyright problems. If you are the owner of the material, you may release the material under the Creative Commons and GFDL licenses, as detailed at WP:IOWN. Alternatively, you are welcome to create a draft in your own words at Talk:Moin Qureshi/Temp. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators and/or removers of the copyright notice templates may be blocked from editing. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Moin_Qureshi&diff=865309486&oldid=865298573 Widefox; talk 13:35, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you create an inappropriate page. creating BLPs failing WP:V, copyright vio inc close paraphrasing, edit warring (repeatedly recreating without addressing the previous), and disrupting valid redirects Widefox; talk 13:37, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Athena Brensberger

edit

The article Athena Brensberger has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

BLP looks WP:TOOSOON and WP:NOTINHERITED from NASA Socials or YouTube personality

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ArbCom 2018 election voter message

edit

Hello, Insaafbarua. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Unconstructive edits

edit

Hi there, I don't consider these changes constructive. Indian film financial data is based on guesses and estimates. There is no singular authority for this sort of thing. So when sources differ in opinion about a film's gross, it would never be appropriate for an editor such as yourself to decide which value is "true". Editors' personal biases should not be introduced into articles. If there is a disparity, the content should perhaps be presented as a range. Since you have been reverted, your recourse is to open a discussion on the article's talk page to seek consensus for how the information should be presented. Thank you.
