Hi, @HickoryOughtShirt?4: I received a notification that you reverted my edits on Sony Xperia 1, and found you added the same template which I already added, and one another, could you please take a minute and elaborate by doing that Did I made a mistake? MrZINE 19:41, 28 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi Iamzine13, thanks for the message. My revert of you was just necessary to revert a sockpuppet account (see User:Nipponese Dog Calvero). It was of no fault of your own and your tag was correct. Please keep up the good work! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:44, 28 February 2019 (UTC)

Philadelphia Eagles

Hi - I work for the Philadelphia Eagles. We would like to add some of our philanthropic information to our team's Wikipedia page. What are the appropriate steps that need to be taken? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Philadelphia1933 (talkcontribs) 16:40, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Philadelphia1993 and welcome to Wikipedia. Did you not see the warning Roxy the dog left on your first account EaglesPR1? Please do not use Wikipedia as a vehicle for self promotion. All of your edits have been super promotional (ie. not having a neutral point of view) and, I believe, copied directly from a source. Please stop creating new accounts to promote your subject. You must declare your conflict of interest on your user page (follow WP:DISCLOSE) and use WP:Edit Requests on the articles talk page (as Roxy has said before). This is the only way the community is comfortable with COI editing. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 16:57, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

Joel Creasey

Hi there, I made an edit on this page and it keeps reverting back to an original version. How can I stop this from happening?

Jcmgmt (talk) 23:27, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Jcmgmt and welcome to Wikipedia. You stated here that you were Creasey's management and I have since left you a message on your talk page about the proper disclosures that must be done to continue editing. If you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page (click the red link). Afterwards, you need to use WP:Edit requests (see Wikipedia:Simple conflict of interest edit request) on the articles talk page in order for information to be added. Your edit requests should be sourced and neurally worded. All of your edits so far have been unsourced and wholly promotional. One of Wikipedia's five pillars is maintaining a neutral point of view and it is non-negotiable. Please understand that paid editors are strongly discouraged from editing Wikipedia. We do not resent the fact that you are being paid to do what we do without pay. We are amateurs in the archaic sense of that word, people engaged in an activity "for love". However, we amateur editors do resent that paid editors write non-neutrally, displaying obvious bias toward their clients, writing promotionally, and without a neutral point of view. Amateur editors are especially deeply resentful when paid editors ask for help because they say that they "need" it for their clients. The encyclopedia doesn't need to help your clients, even if your clients need business, which they can find by advertising on their own web sites. So follow the advice that I have given. Your submissions will be reviewed by amateur editors, but you cannot expect that we will clean up your submissions to make them neutral or remove promotional content. We will be glad to answer questions about Wikipedia policies and guidelines, and we will review your submissions. It is your job to write your submissions verifiably and neutrally. Sanctuary Lakes Resort

Hi, Hick. I thought I'd PROD that Sanctuary Lakes Resort that you cleaned up from a pure advertisement — it's still not really sourced, or notable. I just want to ask you first about the single footnote, http://www.weekendnotes.com.au/waterstone-cafe/ (a dead link). I assumed at first User:SLResidents had added it, but no, it looks from the history like you did.[1] Really? I mean, it's kind of useless, and doesn't look from the name as if it would be a reliable source even if it wasn't dead. Did it come from somewhere in the history? Bishonen | talk 10:22, 8 March 2019 (UTC).

Bishonen Hi Bishonen and thanks for taking the initiative. I was debating PROD or AFD but thought I'd sleep on it. Regarding the link, that came from the page history. All I did was revert the COI. Thanks for the follow up though! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 14:07, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks. I've done prodded it. Bishonen | talk 16:21, 8 March 2019 (UTC).

Question

it was very constructive because he is an animal abuser.

Hi IP and welcome to Wikipedia. While he was charged and jailed for animal abuse that is not why he has a Wikipedia page. Therefore, it should probably not be in the first sentence of the page (see MOS:FIRST). We have to be careful when discussing biography of living people and make sure everything is neutrally worded and balanced. Looking in the page history, people object to adding this line in the lead so therefore I suggest you discuss this on Talk:Terrence Cody. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:06, 9 March 2019 (UTC)

rejected draft

Hello again, HickoryOughtShirt?4.

As per your suggestion, I created a draft of my revision of Jodie Markell's wikipedia entry and submitted it for review. It has just been rejected because a page for Jodie Markell already exists. The reviewer suggested that I instead make the changes to the already existing page. But...I did that, and the changes were deleted! So I am not sure what to do! I disclosed in the notes that I am a professional editor and have been hired to make changes to Markell's entry. I am happy to have these changes reviewed/verified by another editor--but I don't understand how to accomplish that! Could you review it for me? Julia VanDevelder (talk) 16:18, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Julia VanDevelder

Hi Julia VanDevelder and welcome to Wikipedia. I apologize for not responding earlier, I was asleep. I know Wikipedia can be a challenge to navigate (it really is a learning process) so I appreciate that you have shown kindness and a willingness to follow policy. I am busy at the moment so I am unable to review your draft but I have left a message for the editor who rejected your draft explaining your situation. If they are able to, I have asked them to re-review your draft. You can also make WP:Edit Requests on the articles talk page.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 17:16, 9 March 2019 (UTC)

Source

You deleted and asked me for a source on the Emil Pettersson edit, the only thing I can say is that I'm Swedish and that everyone's info is on display here on sites like eniro.se, birthday.se, ratsit.se, merinfo.se, et cetera, (like this: https://www.merinfo.se/person/Ånge/Karl-Emil-Ilmari-Pettersson-1994/bvdw2-4kt8q) unless you have protected identity, which is not that common. I don't care that much about the edit in question though, so it can stand the way you want it to. I just wanted you to know I'm a serious hockey historian.

Hi Fairhop and thank you for this message. I want to reassure you that I was by no means questioning your knowledge of hockey or your seriousness of the sport when I reverted you, I was just following WP:BLP and WP:V. I know Swedish hockey players tend to have unique names like that (eg. William Nylander) but I also consider myself a pretty hard stickler when it comes to adding reliable sources to BLPs. I'm also pretty sure merinfo.s, ratsit.se, and birthday.se do not pass our reliable source criteria. I honestly don't mind adding in the middle name if you can find a reliable source but it just has to pass WP:RS. I know a lot of people's middle names aren't sourced here and it becomes an issue when people vandalize someone's unsourced middle name and we have no idea for months (see this discussion for example). HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:00, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
No worries. I have better things to do than to search for a "reliable source" on this particular player though. :)

DYK for Philippe Lacarrière

On 25 February 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Philippe Lacarrière, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Olympians Jacques and Philippe Lacarrière were the second father–son pair to be inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Philippe Lacarrière. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Philippe Lacarrière), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Removal of Dunton Rainville

Hello,

Thank you for sending me a message about the removal of Dunton Rainville. Dunton Rainville occupies two floors in the tower. Could you please let me know how this is promotional? The other companies listed in the "Tenants" section also occupy floors.

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DuntonRainville (talkcontribs) 20:11, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Dunton Rainville and welcome to Wikipedia. It is promotional because a) there is no page for that company as of yet and b) you are using Wikipedia to spam about your company. Please see WP:COI. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:24, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

BOOMSLANG

The article is out of date and needs to be updated. There have been no violations I am aware of. This is apparently not an area of your expertise. Please advise as these changes are failing to live up to Wikipedia's stated goal...

"The goal of a Wikipedia article is to present a neutrally written summary of existing mainstream knowledge in a fair and accurate manner with a straightforward, "just-the-facts style". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Boomslang (talkcontribs) 18:39, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

Hello Boomslang. What you said above is true but you have also been pointed to our guidelines about COI editing and making sure everything is properly sourced which is important to reaching Wikipedia's goal. All of your additions have been promotional (which goes against Wkkipedia's stated goal) and you have used sock puppets or meat puppets to re-add this information, leading to a block. I will ask again, are you being paid? Keep in mind that all paid editing must be disclosed per WP:PAID. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:23, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

Hello HickoryOughtShirt thank you for your response. I genuinely appreciate your work on behalf of Wikipedia but you are barking up the wrong tree here. Please explain how correcting the incorrect/out of date title of the individual in the entry in question is "promotional". It is not.
You ask again and I confirm again I am absolutely not being paid so there is zero reason to disclose anything. and it's getting a little frustrating to keep being accused of this! Also your claims of sock & meat puppetry are also incorrect. I explained the reason why, 2 people got wires crossed about who was to make the update. That is the totally innocent explanation, there is nothing more to it.
Please take me at my word. The changes I have made today are sourced and accurate and need to remain if Wikipedia is to be accurate on this entry. Feel free to contact UCLA and see if they are not. Not everyone hasa black belt in Wikipedia so If I have made any mistakes in formatting, etc please by all means let me know so I can fix them to be in compliance. However, if these sourced, unpaid & accurate edits are changed again we will have to escalate this to uninvolved editors as I believe I have explained adequately and the situation is still being misinterpreted.

Jodie Markell update

Hi, there. As per the suggestion of the reviewer, I posted my requested update of Jodie Markell's entry on her talk page with a request for a review. This was a couple of weeks ago. Will it definitely get reviewed at some point, or is it possible that it will just sit there with no review? I realize that this isn't very important in the grand scheme of wikipedia, but. It is important to be accurate and thorough. When you have a moment, please let me know what the likelihood is of a timely review. Thanks! Reply from shekkoman re: Marist Bros. edit (addition).

Hello HickoryOughtShirt?4. I am new as a contributor and have only signed in to right a wrong. I am an old MBP boy and happened to find myself accessing the page in question for unrelated reasons. There is already an ex-Wallaby mentioned in the list and I wondered why Michael "Mick" Martin was not also mentioned. I have no idea who many of the "notable" people are but I DO know that Mick Martin is an ex-Wallaby and current Syd/Hobart yacht owner/skipper. After finding many pages, on Google, relating to Mick, I decided that he should be on that list. Please correct me if I'm wrong in my thinking. shekkoman — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shekkoman (talkcontribs) 04:34, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Shekkoman and welcome to Wikipdia. As I said in my message to you, additions to lists of "Notable people" should have pre-existing articles or qualify for one (see WP:Notability). Secondly, while you have shown google hits, none that I see say he went to this high school. If you think he passes our Notability criteria (such as WP:GNG) please start an article using WP:YFA. Hi Ghettojuice and welcome back. That is a good question. Unfortunately, that would still fall under the conflict of interest policy. They can, however, submit one through articles for creation (AfC) but they must declare their connection to you (they can do so following WP:DISCLOSE). Editing without declaring is a direct violation of our COI policy and could result in, amongst many things, a block and your article unable to be recreated. What AfC does is create a draft that can then be submitted for an experienced editor to review it. This is really the only way COI editor should create pages that makes the community comfortable.
