Minor edits edit

Thank you for your contributions. Please remember to mark your edits as "minor" only if they truly are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 20:58, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • It seems I have to repeat this. Please stop marking nearly all of your edits as minor when they shouldn't. I suspect you have your preferences set to mark all edits as minor set to default. It may be a good idea to change that. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 20:55, 3 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Thanks for acknowledging that you read my message. I won't initiate any discussion since others may find the feature useful and are using it correctly. Everyone is allowed to make mistakes, but I don't like your sarcastic tone. If you continue to mark edits that clearly are not minor as minor, examples: 12, that may be considered disruptive. Disruptive editing may lead to blocks. Rettetast (talk) 17:34, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • The warning stands. Those edits are not minor and you know it. Just start taking some input from others and you'll be fine. Also, stop with the flags. Consensus are clearly against them. Rettetast (talk) 17:48, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Can you please stop marking every edit you make as minor Gnevin (talk) 22:38, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:MrProspectorBookCover.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:MrProspectorBookCover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. bwmcmaste (talk) 06:01, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of British Steeplechasing Hall of Fame edit

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is British Steeplechasing Hall of Fame. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/British Steeplechasing Hall of Fame. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:03, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Charliebrown edit

So, I believe it was back in February, that you were touting your "UPTOWN-Charliebrown." Has he got it in him to win or place in the Belmont? I'm pulling for you since my Derby and Preakness pick Lucky is not running. I've liked Lucky ever since the Best Pal Stakes I lost a lot of money on him in the Derby but tripled that loss in the Preakness. I nailed the Tri in front of 35 at a party at our house two weeks ago. Now it your turn to be vindicated, GOOD LUCK with the GREAT PUMPKIN!!!! Hey, by the wayy......What do think of the new "New York Triple Tiara" (I'm not sure that I like it). To your knowledge has any Filly won the three races as it comprised now?--Craiglduncan (talk) 01:28, 29 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

My interest in 'Charliebrown was mostly the ownership story. The difficulties in the industry may well need a lot more of this to survive, and occasionaly a "poor man's" "unsung hero" to come along like Seattle Slew whose owner's budget was $15,000 when they went the extra $2,500 to get him at auction. - The Belmont Stakes field this year is uninspiring, to say the least. No great interest in the Triple Tiara. Am not thrilled with the management of the NYRA. Example - I'm trying to do an article for the Sands Point Stakes at Belmont and would appreciate it if you would look in your book and give me the winners, second/third, distance and time for 1995 and 1996. Then, look at what it says here: Sands Point Stakes history at the NYRA. Hope things are fixed and back to normal after the flooding. Handicapper (talk) 15:00, 30 May 2010 (UTC) BTW: I've got something for you to look at and will post a link here in a day or so.Reply

Sands Point edit

1996 - 1st - Merit Wings - 2nd - Unify - 3rd - Turkappeal - 1-1/16 miles - 1:45.83 - 10 starters
Hope this helps, let me know if need anything else.--Craiglduncan (talk) 16:07, 31 May 2010 (UTC) P.S. - Have you notified NYRA that their web site is wrong?--Craiglduncan (talk) 16:09, 31 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

You are now a Reviewer edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:53, 16 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Blocked edit

As you've been repeatedly told, you need to stop marking edits as "minor" when they aren't. You obviously haven't listened to the advice and warnings, so now I've indefinitely blocked you to stop the repeated disruption. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 14:01, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have to say I think it's a real shame this user is blocked he certainly had a lot of knowledge in his field of choice. If only he would agree to abide by the rules Gnevin (talk) 13:34, 9 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Is it possible to disable minor edits for individual editors? If the software supports that functionality, I would advocate an unblock where none of Handicapper's edits are marked as minor. Gobonobo T C 04:13, 10 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Even if possible Handicapper would have to should a willingness to work with the community and accept consensus with out an RFC being opened and blocks being imposed Gnevin (talk) 13:20, 10 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • I can not even imagine how petty and arogant someone must be to block someone that has contributed so much to wikipedia in the past because of a very minor technicality. Although I assume it would be easy for him to abide by your request, there must be a reason he does not. It is because of people like this blocker that chase off very valuable members of our editorial community. He may not be appealing because of the disgust he has, related to wikipedia's emboldening of power to some that can not seem to see the value in a very capable and knowledgeable contributor.--Craiglduncan (talk) 18:02, 10 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Is there a way for me to appeal to someone with higher authority on Handicapper's behalf?--Craiglduncan (talk) 18:05, 10 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Please try to be informed before commencing to condemn the blocking admin. The relevant discussion is here. Thanks —DoRD (talk) 19:59, 10 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • I know this is a bit late, but permanent ban makes no sense at all. This person has contributed a lot to wikipedia, despite the fact that he wants to mark everything he/she edits "minor". A block for a day or two would have made more sense. Oldag07 (talk) 16:29, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

The article Women of the Year – Ten Fillies Who Achieved Horse Racing's Highest Honor has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article does not meet the notability guideline for books.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Orphaned non-free image File:WomenoftheYear-EclipsePress.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:WomenoftheYear-EclipsePress.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 14:49, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Penny Tweedy.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Penny Tweedy.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fages (talk) 17:50, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Penny Tweedy.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Penny Tweedy.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fages (talk) 17:53, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:CalumetBakingPowder.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:CalumetBakingPowder.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

Thank you. Fages (talk) 18:26, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Video-HorseCalledNijinsky.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Video-HorseCalledNijinsky.jpg.

Thank you. — ξxplicit 01:27, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:MorrisParkRacecourse1899.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:MorrisParkRacecourse1899.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:33, 25 November 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:33, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.

For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:17, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dear uploader: The media files you uploaded as:

Possible copyright problem edit

Hello. Regarding the article Blood-Horse magazine List of the Top 100 U.S. Racehorses of the 20th Century, which you created, I am unsure of whether copying this "top 100" list is a copyright violation or not, so I have tagged the article for copyright review.
