Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Mongoloid groups in Russia

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Mongoloid groups in Russia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Mongoloid has been long deprecated as a racist term that is firmly rejected by the scientific community

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Thank you for making a report on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, it appears that the editor you reported may not have engaged in vandalism, or the user was not sufficiently or appropriately warned. Please note there is a difference between vandalism and unhelpful or misguided edits made in good faith. If the user continues to vandalise after a recent final warning, please re-report it. FIFA tournament names in different languages

edit

I'm afraid an email from FIFA does not count as a reliable source, since we cannot confirm its contents. Furthermore, you state that "UEFA could use the name in different languages", but there is no evidence that they do. In the English-speaking world, the tournament is only referred to in English. Adding all the different languages, especially for Euro 2020, takes up a lot of unnecessary space and adds very little to people's understanding of the article. – PeeJay 11:59, 14 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

What 'vandalism' means at Wikipedia

edit

I came to comment on your recent report to WP:AIV here [1], because it was not justified. That editor made poor edits, but it seems they were trying to improve things, so you could assume good faith. I see from the September 2015 section above that someone has already recommended reading up on cleaning up vandalism and what is not considered vandalism on Wikipedia.

I urge you to continue your interest in combatting vandalism, starting with taking the time to read the material recommended. You will find WP:AIV to be a valuable resource, but it is monitored by volunteers, whose available time is limited. It can only work if reports to the page are in the right place. Otherwise, time is wasted, no vandalism is prevented, and everyone becomes a little bit more disheartened about working to eliminate vandalism. Thanks for hearing me out. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Tamerlan Aguzarov, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ossetian. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Thank you for the offer

edit

Dear GoldenRainbow, Firstly, thank you for the offer. Regarding it however, I must decline since I already have an account on Wikivoyage. I chose not to use it because I don't want the person harassing me to know who I am. Anyways, I'm only concerned with getting that dispute on the page for the Kalmyk anthem resolved. Is there anything you can do about it? Details of the situation can be found in the following links in case you aren't aware: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Donner60#Request_for_Help_regarding_the_Kalmyk_Anthem.27s_page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Russia#Harassment_on_the_Wikipedia_page_for_the_Anthem_of_Kalmykia

@GoldenRainbow: Thank you very much for your reply. Unfortunately, the IP user in question (who is, according to the revision history of the Kalmyk Anthem's page, using multiple IP addresses) has once again resumed activity. I explained the situation in more detail on my talk page in reply to the User known as Donner60 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:122.132.199.88). If in your opinion a massive edit war seems imminent, and/or if such an edit war occurs, than I would appreciate your intervention. On another note, do you know anyone who is fluent in English and Kalmyk? I showed the version of the lyrics I made to a Kalmyk friend who agreed that my version is better and I'm contemplating whether I should bring this attention to some Kalmyk language activists in Kalmyk I am in contact with. Unfortunately, most of them are unable to speak English fluently. If you know anyone who is fluent in both English and Kalmyk (I am fluent in English but have only a rudimentary knowledge of Kalmyk), please have them check this dispute if you feel that would be necessary. 122.132.199.88 (talk) 17:18, 16 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Template:Geographic location

edit

Hello GoldenRainbow, thank you for your contributions. However, I have reverted three of your recent additions of Template:Geographic location - this template is primarily intended for community and city articles, not for "continents, countries and other large geographical areas like states, provinces and islands", where such information should be provided as prose (usually in the lead or a "Geography" section). Some discussion about this point can be found in the template's talkpage archive. Admittedly the current usage throughout Wikipedia is quite inconsistent (and controversial at times), but articles about German states and a lot of other topical areas don't use that template at all. Best regards. GermanJoe (talk) 05:28, 18 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

New 10,000 Challenge for Canada

edit

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Administrator's Noticeboard Discussion

  • Please read my apology. GoldenRainbow (talk) 21:59, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
    • Don't add things you have no evidence for. I have no idea why you think it's okay to add something just because you give a warning that it could someday in the future turn out to be true (probably hoping that it will be if you go around spreading your misinformation to IMDB and other websites like you have). Supergahd (talk) 20:20, 30 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
      • I don't have a IMDB account nor any account other websites but I do know that I should take my own things in my mind instead of publishing it. I just misunderstood about the profiles of the characters. I think this thread should closed be right now. I don't want to get into trouble, I will clean it up this time for real. I see that you said that you fight vandals since 2005. Any proofs you fighting them since 2005? And how long will you stay on Wikipedia for? GoldenRainbow (talk) 21:05, 30 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
        • Yes, you do. There isn't even any maybe about it, but that's not even relevant to your actions here, since they speak for themselves. That's more of a courtesy warning for anyone reading this to be wary of misinformation on the internet regarding these subjects. Your questions have nothing to do with the topic at hand, but I can assure you I have been and will be using Wikipedia for a very long time. Supergahd (talk) 21:59, 30 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
