Gangtok

edit

I used Holidaying in Sikkim and Bhutan – published by Nest and Wings – ISBN 81-87592-07-9 as my main reference, and culled a lot from the Sikkim article. In those days references were not so stringent as it is now. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 15:16, 2 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks!

Nice to hear from you. Thanks for the feedback. If you have a chance to go through either of the articles, I would appreciate it. The plot sections both need work, particularly Chak De India which exceeds the word limit according to the guidelines:

Hey!! That's great news!! Congrats, I know you worked on that article. Ray is, of course, one of my favorite filmmakers. It's great to see another Indian film article reach F.A. As for the other articles, of course, RL commitments always take priority. Look at them when and if you can. -Classicfilms (talk) 17:34, 2 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Film stub templates ({{Bengali-film-stub}}

edit

Hi there! I know the Films WikiProject is incredibly active, but please don't create any stub templates or categories unless (a) there are already at least 30 articles that could use them, AND (b) you have proposed it at WikiProject Stub sorting Proposals. This will help prevent annoyed stub sorters from finding your work and possibly nominating it for deletion. Thanks! Her Pegship (tis herself) 18:15, 2 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Or to be more precise, don't create a category where there's not at least 60 such stub articles. There's no difficulty with an upmerged template, however, regardless of size issues (which can then be "un-upmerged" readily, as required). Would you have any objection to me doing so in this case? Alai (talk) 03:10, 3 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
No problem, nothing urgent or anything: I just thought I'd mention it here, rather than throwing more process at the issue, possibly prematurely. Personally, I'd be happy to keep the category at least for now on the basis of a good-faith guess that there's 60 such articles. Rather than listing them, I suggest just incrementally tagging them using the stub template, which we're pretty much likely to keep, regardless of the fate of the category. (One can then use "what links here" on the template, to count those separately from the parent category.) Alai (talk) 23:20, 4 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Copyeditor has finished

edit

He's copyedited the article. I didn't touch as you suggested except for some accuracies. I'm grateful for his work, yet I tend to disagree with some parts. Take for example the section you created, it was IMO written brilliantly, describing Zinta's activities with the team, and it was shortened. Never mind, we'll take care of these matters later, when we are not as stressed. Regards, ShahidTalk2me

BTW, are you aware of the IPL matches? ShahidTalk2me 19:18, 3 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well yeh I was quite shocked seeing Tony withdrawing his oppose. ShahidTalk2me 19:35, 7 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Its very strange as only I and Shahid have edited the article substantially in the last few days although they seem to have been editing it today. You need any help with the Gangtok article? Its pretty well related to Tibet ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 20:55, 7 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I requested the Bengali-film-stub to Pegship a week or two anyway. There seemed more thatn 60 stubs seems as we were creting those articles at the time. I'll try to fill in the others soon, I've tried improving the Zinta article today but it is stressful and I am afraid I have offended Shahid in doing so. I would rather that situation passed quickly and the article just made it so save everybody the heartache! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 20:17, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Gangtok

edit

Thanks! I'll do a thorough research and list out credible references on the talk page. Could you then incorporate the stuff in the page? Once that is done, I'll review and copyedit the article. Would this be feasible for you? =Nichalp «Talk»= 13:06, 4 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I've added about 30 references to the talk page of Gangtok. Some of them have a lot of content. =Nichalp «Talk»= 14:41, 4 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

KMG

edit

This source you provided in the edit summary while removing the Koi Mil Gaya claim under the reason of it not being her biggest commerical success, only supports the claim that it is. Koi Mil Gaya is the first film with Zinta in the leading role which comes on the list. Comments? ShahidTalk2me 08:47, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yeh it doesn't count, especially considering that she had only 1 minute role huh! So KMG is her biggest commerical success... Have you seen the progress? Laser not only has withdrawn his oppose, but changed it to support. :) ShahidTalk2me 09:03, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's not that friend... If not BOI, we can use indiaFM, which has a full coverage. That's just the matter, NOI is clearly reliable and I really believe this without giving it a second thought. We can't only think about Zinta. Some 300 articles use it. Sarvagnya is the only one who has raised any concerns and good to note that most of the editors on here seem to agree with me that BOI is reliable. How can we explain the fact that such reputable sources as Times Online cite it? It's a joke what happens here. ShahidTalk2me 18:24, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh so that's great! ShahidTalk2me 18:29, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also, what do you think about Geometry guy's comment? I think it's a great analysis oh how we should take those figures. ShahidTalk2me 18:36, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Exactly, at the end of the day, the only one who knows the most precise numbers is, as said by GG, the production company itself. ShahidTalk2me 18:47, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Gangtok

edit

Will do. LOL I was wondering why you hadn't replied!! If there are enough topics it could also be developed in a navigation plate on Gangtok itself. I'm sure there are enough potential articles on temples, institutions, city districts, landmarkas, people etc that could be developed. I'll try to add those other Bengali films in a few days. Right now I am drawing up a beast Template:Districts of Laos for starting! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 15:30, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, the progress is awesome!!! I liked the new images you got for article. One by one sections are being improved and good references added. However, I am bit concerned regarding question raised on authenticity of sikkiminfo.com. If information from such private websites cannot be added then we have to rely upon newspaper sites and govt sites only. Usually newspapers have copy right material and govt websites lack updated information. Question is raised on FAR page. Another point, why is City institutions made as sub-part of culture? Initially it was separate section. --gppande «talk» 15:38, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, we will have to find some references other than sikkiminfo. There is lot of information in google books but most of the books are available online. Regarding Nagpur, the article has really got comprehensive but need to do make the language as good as on other FAs. And then may be get some peer review first. BTW, what would be typical deadline for Gangtok FAR before any decision is taken by FARC? --gppande «talk» 19:38, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh I absolutely adore northern India. I love Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh too, Srinigar and all that. Tackling some areas of Sikkim and devloping Gangtok in detail sounds like a nice challenge. Eventually I want to see districts and cities of the world ALL covered in detail linking the world together! The uneveness though is huge but anything I can do to address this really. I'll see what I can do about developing some sikkim geo/cultural articles like villages/rivers/mountains etc in a template. I always consider templates extremely important as they kind of stamp our authority over a given area or topic. How about something like Template:Hydrology of Sikkim linking together articles on rivers/lakes valleys etc like I did with Template:Hydrology of Slovenia? regards ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 15:43, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Read them already! Liberian National Museum on the front page is also mine! Interestingly they are listed right next to each other. Shows that we share high editing calibre huh? I was going to suggest that you create a template for his Bose's films and add an actor infbox and image to the main article ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:20, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yep but then it was 11,000. Since then I believe it has surpassed 20,000 now, possibly nearer 25,000. Somehow I managed to pass the 150,000 count yesterday which puts me behind only two people in the history of wiki I think. But don't be fooled by the number. Obvously I put a great deal of time and effort into the project but a huge number of those edits were made within seconds of each other whether it is mass stubbing, tagging, recategorizing etc. Most of the work I do on wiki is at root level which inevitably requires a great deal of edits. Such is the uneveness of this porject that major things have to be done to get it on its way. The project is still in its infancy so lets see how it develops! 18:28, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

That is exactly right my friend. Everything you said about too much wasted time in edit wars, admin fluffing around etc is one of the most serious problems in the development of the encyclopedia. A high proportion of editors do very little encyclopedia work that actually counts but think wikipedia is a council to exercise their power or POV in. This is part of the reason why I have always turned down adminship . It is highly frustrating when I see childish discussions going on and people warring with each other when I'm working on some area of the project and even if I hade two of those people helping me I could get things done in no time at all ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:42, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Dwaipayanc for the message. Well, I'm glad that after a long and patient wait, its nomination ended successfully. I've noticed a few more facts about Rang De Basanti's influence in our society which I plan to add as a subsection or so. Would you mind to take a look and see if further copyediting is possible. RE: Nagpur

Thanks for working on Nagpur. I am currently working on expanding MIHAN. I have gathered much information on this very big and important project. It is really changing Nagpur a lot and you can feel the impact as soon as you land in Nagpur. Even rickshaw drivers know a lot about MIHAN - as I understood in my last visit to Nagpur :-) So maybe we can have a mention of MIHAN's industry in economy section and infrastructure in transport section. Please continue to improve the article as you deem fit. I would bit busy with real life and MIHAN for next few days and would then return back to Nagpur. BTW, Transport in Nagpur is nominated for DYK. --gppande «talk» 11:22, 12 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
