Divehi Wikipedia

edit

An article you started, Divehi Wikipedia, has been proposed for deletion. An editor considers the article a self-reference. I'm not so sure about that claim, however, I'm not sure we need separate one-line articles for the various language versions of Wikipedia. If you think the article ought to be kept, you might want to explain your reasoning on the talk page and remove the prod notice. If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the prod notice, the article may be deleted without further discussion. NickelShoe 04:18, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I put this article on AFD and thought I would give you a heads up. Please share your thoughts in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Divehi Wikipedia. EdGl 21:22, 28 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Evolution of the Judiciary in the Maldives

Hello Deviathan,

I came across the article, Evolution of the Judiciary in the Maldives, created by you. Since there are issues that should be addressed, I have inserted cleanup tag and rationale on the talk page. Please check that and improve the article as you appear to have extensive knowledge about the subject. Thanks. --Oblivious 05:35, 11 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the explanation about my query on your dv talk page and the response to the notification above. The work you are doing on dv is quite impressive I must say and there are things that could be done to further improve it. I'll be really busy for the next two months and I dont think I have time to allocate for any major work on dv. I sure will give you a ring when I am free. Mean while email me or leave a message on my talk page if you need any help. I'll be happy to help. Thanks! --Oblivious 00:27, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Grantha.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Grantha.gif. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. thunderboltz(Deepu) 11:01, 4 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Latin transliteration of the Maldivian language

edit

To Deviathan. Please explain rationale for removing referenced paragraphs referring to Latin transliteration in Dhivehi language. The temporary adoption of Latin script during the 1970's ignoring previous lingustic research made by HCP Bell and Wilhelm Geiger was an important event in the history of the Maldivian language. Erasing referenced text without justification looks like vandalism to me.116.68.66.97 12:21, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mahal subpages

edit

Hey, I noticed that you had made a lot of the subpages that I redirected to Mahal language. It's nothing personal and if there was any information loss then I apologize. I would like to direct your attention to the consonant chart for Mahal, though. I was going to convert it to IPA but I couldn't figure what some of the letters represented. For instance, you put <r> in the lateral row, and <y> in the velar column. If you could clarify these it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Unspecified source for Image:SAFF.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:SAFF.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:02, 4 June 2008 (UTC). Orphaned non-free media (Image:SAFF.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:SAFF.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:15, 4 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Family tree of Sulaiman Qadir

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Family tree of Sulaiman Qadir, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion of Ibrahim Didi

edit

A tag has been placed on Ibrahim Didi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Nja247 (talkcontribs) 10:49, 16 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Deviathan - I have no doubt that you were acting in good faith when you created & populated Category:Physician-politicians (which I supported, as well). Speedy deletion nomination of Ekumaafaanu

edit

A tag has been placed on Ekumaafaanu, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Speedy deletion nomination of Maldives-Israel relations

A tag has been placed on Maldives-Israel relations requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Deviathan! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 326 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Imad Latheef - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

File permission problem with File:Mahlpeople.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Mahlpeople.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 03:15, 12 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Mahl people

edit

Please see the Talk page of the article "Mahl people" regarding the ongoing discussions. I think you changed the name without looking at the discussions page. Talking little about the matter, with respect to Wikipedia guidelines we have to use the existing name of the subject used by reliable sources from scientists or people of the particular field of study. Here we find that all Anthropologists and researchers use the term Dhivehi people for the people of this ethnicity. All sources available prove the fact. Inventing names is clearly against Wikipedia guidelines. Dhivehi is a more historical word from many centuries before used to refer to people of this ethnicity. It has been proven that from historical times the term Dhivehi has been used by the natives while similar terms starting from D has been used by some foreigners to refer to this group of people. When looking at the Radheef meaning too there is no contradiction in using the term Dhivehi people or Dhivehin to refer to this group of people. The view of experts on this is important which has to be understood. I have figured out that it's a big misconception on your side... :D So please join the discussions on the talk page of the article. See what I have presented on the talk page and I request you to join and reply if you have any points to present.

Regarding the article you created called Evolution of the Judiciary in the Maldives

edit

I enjoyed your article Evolution of the Judiciary in the Maldives, which I came to in order to address the 'wikify' tag that was on it.

I encourage you to take some time and provide citations for the sources you used in this article. That would go a long way in preventing it from being deleted. At the moment it is very vulnerable to deletion, due to the issues it has, including essay like style and no references. It would be a shame to lose it! If you require help with this, let me know. Suvadive flag

edit

Afeef artwork based on patches of old pictures showing correct colors and position

Actually there was no error in the Suvadive flag. The blue was always up in the history of the republic. Only now Wikipedia has reversed the flag, but please don't claim it was based on my "Afeef Didi with Suvadive flag" picture. The artwork I did was based on patches of old pictures of Afeef and the flag was meant to be hanging from a pole in the horizontal position that cannot be seen. I regret the errors this has caused, but the error has to be corrected. Mohonu (talk) 05:59, 12 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
