File source problem with File:Davedespain.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Davedespain.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:27, 9 March 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey (talk) 09:27, 9 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wikilinks are good, but the idea is to link to each term just once, or maybe twice if necessary rather than every occasion. And terms that aren't significant to the article don't need to be linked at all. See WP:OVERLINK.   Will Beback  talk  08:19, 12 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Project Iowa news

edit

Hi, I recently promoted myself as a patroller of Iowa's communities articles (December 14, 2010) and you came onto my radar by your edits of Fairfield, Iowa. I hope I can enlist you to join (or at least check out) the developing division called Communities (pre-named and previously red-linked). Keep up the good work.
Just click on the links in the GOOD NEWS notice.

In addition to the standard message above, I looked at your contributions and seen you have an interest in many Iowa towns. I also noticed you placed the new section Radio Station in the correct location according to Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline. Kudos to you. The Communities Division is a very recent development and you may find good and useful information there. I also encourage you to look at the developing page Wikipedia:WikiProject Iowa/Communities/Priorities One last thing do not get discouraged if most of the messages you receive on your talk page is about what you are doing wrong, there is no classes at Wikipedia and we all learn by making mistakes.
Keep up the good work. --RifeIdeas Talk 02:51, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation pages

edit

Although most of your edits are productive some are not. Just because a name can be blue-linked does not mean it should or that it is the correct person. Please go back and check your edits for example your Mike Wolfe on the Le Claire, Iowa page does not go where you want it to go. Instead it goes to a disambiguation page for several people with the same name that have to have a clarifier put with the name. This is not the first time you have done this and I just have fixed the link. Learn to be a better editor — check your links.
--RifeIdeas Talk 00:25, 18 January 2011 (UTC) Also look at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (footnotes) and Wikipedia:Citation templates when adding references as your Fairfield, Iowa population refererence is not in line with the rest of the references in the article.Reply

Here to help

edit

I see you went back and fixed your link for Mike Wolfe - great! I have you in my watch list and can track every edit you make. I got a chuckle out of your experimenting with the Barnstar and then with the part of my user page you copied and experimented with until you got to.

Welcome to Danieljo2013

It's all good — that you copied me, that is how we all learn — that's how I learned. I am willing to help you like others helped me. All you need to do is ask me questions right here on your talk page as I watch it for changes. As long as you are willing to learn I am here to help and explain. BTW you should go back and look at where you placed your name in the list at Wikipedia:WikiProject Iowa‎ and read carefully as you missed some instructions. And welcome to Project Iowa! For userbox information check out Wikipedia:Userboxes especially the subpage Wikipedia:Userboxes/Grouping. For information about your own subpages look at Wikipedia:Subpages especially the subsection Wikipedia:Subpages#Using subpages. And notice the differences between subpages and subsection described in the previous sentences.
Here is some more WELCOME information: (just the tip of the iceburg called Wikipedia)

Proposed deletion of Steve Clevenger

edit

The article Steve Clevenger has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. joe deckertalk to me 14:40, 29 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:WinfieldVikings.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:WinfieldVikings.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without verifying permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted.

Please take this opportunity to be sure you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I apologize for what has happened and I understood what I did was wrong, probably half of the images were my own though. I really enjoy helping the wikipedia website and I really won't let it happen again. I didn't know how serious it was and I regret doing it.

Decline reason:

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Could you please specify which of your files ("probably half", as you said) were genuinely your own work? Here is the list. Fut.Perf. 18:22, 22 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

{{unblock|The picture of the Minnesota Vikings players were my own, such as "File:Kleinsasser.jpg" ‎ "File:Lesliefrazier.jpg" ‎ "File:Cedricgriffin.jpg" ‎ "File:Aromashodu.jpg" ‎ "File:Ryanlongwell.jpg" "File:Kirkbulls.jpg" "File:Samardzija.jpg"

Why did you think that it was OK to upload photos you'd taken from elsewhere under claims that they were your own work? Nick-D (talk) 09:31, 24 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I know it was wrong but I didn't think I'd become blocked from this. I'm really not going to let it happen again unless it really is my own work. Kirkbulls.jpg is my photo as well as samardzija.jpg, they are just on different cameras. I took the other ones on my SLR camera.
Given that you did something which you knew was wrong, repeatedly, in the belief that you could get away with it I don't see how you can be trusted to be unblocked. The large number of copyright warnings above should have been more than enough to warn you that copyright is taken very seriously. Nick-D (talk) 07:11, 25 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
