Matsumura Kunihiro Den: Saikyō no Rekishi wo Nurikaeru!

Hey DAJF, when you have some time please check this article. Not sure if the title is 100% correct. Thanks. :) --Hydao (talk) 21:10, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

OK, I renamed it Matsumura Kunihiro Den: Saikyō no Rekishi o Nurikaero!, but hopefully it looks better now. --DAJF (talk) 09:04, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks! --Hydao (talk) 09:09, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

adding a couple of sentences to this page please

Dear sir, we are Monenco consulting engineering company of Iran which its origination is from Montreal engineering company of Canada, so we would appreciate to add "In 1972 Monenco established its branch in Tehran, Iran by 50/50 share. In 1992 the company was acquired by AGRA Inc.. AGRA Monenco was subsequently acquired by AMEC in 2000.[1] This company is now the only survivor of the Montreal Engineering Company and the leading Engineering Company in the region. Monenco Iran has 2 established subsidiaries; Monenco Consulting Engineers (MCE) in Oman and Monenco Engineering Limited (MEL) in Nigeria." to this page, we did not intend to delete any information , we are requesting to have our paragraph and its links to be added to this page. would you please excuse us for any inconvenience we caused and please add this part. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.253.130.139 (talk) 10:13, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

I suggest you make edit requests on the relevant article's talk page, and provide a reliable reference source so that the details you wish to be added can be verified first. --DAJF (talk) 11:56, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Dōjin Circles

I tried to add in some citations, but I tend to work on such pages mostly as a translator, and if I'm worried that I'm going to have to delve deeply into Japanese language articles, I usually want to wait until I'm done translating the material that was already made available to me (on the Japanese wiki). One of your concerns (kojin circles) has now been cited from two sources (books), but the legal status of dōjin circles may take some more time for me. I spent a day or two just trying to figure out how to translate that sentence (since it's a legal matter, I wanted to be exact), and I don't want to have to delve too deeply into Japanese-language legal materials until I'm done translating the page (which at this point I think I'd have to do). Have I at least established enough notability and verifiability for it to remain a standalone page for now? Reinana kyuu (talk) 15:10, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for working on the Dōjin circle article and adding a reliable source. I was a bit concerned about whether it was justified to have a separate article like this rather than simply including a mention of circles in the Dōjin article, but hopefully, the reference source you have now added has established a sufficient level of notability to keep this as a self-standing article. If I may make a suggestion, while translating material from Japanese articles is certainly a good way to expand the corresponding English articles, material still needs to be reliably sourced in accordance with the Wikipedia:Verifiability guidelines, so it's a good idea to try and add relevant sources at the same time you add the new text. In my experience, Japanese Wikipedia articles are often woefully unsourced and inaccurate, so caution is necessary when simply transferring material from there. Anyway, keep up the good work! --DAJF (talk) 23:37, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely try harder to balance the two tasks out. And thanks for pushing me, on the article, even if I grumbled a little to myself at the time. I'm going to do my best to improve the article (and some of the others on my watchlist) further. Reinana kyuu (talk) 03:43, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Hello

Where should I put the {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|Your reason that a free replacement can not be found or created}} part, on the talk page? or where? I have proof that there is non free pictures depicting a hikikomori. Thank you.Kotjap (talk) 00:32, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

You should place it directly below the {{di-replaceable fair use}} template on the image page. I personally think you will be wasting your (and other editors') time, though, since just because you yourself cannot physically lay your hands on one right now does not mean that a free image of hikikomori is not readily available somewhere. --DAJF (talk) 01:30, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
I see that it was explained to you why the image was unacceptable by two separate editors when you asked at Wikipedia:Media_copyright_questions#Hikikomori. --DAJF (talk) 01:35, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
Many thanks for answer, maybe that can be added to documentation on upload. I understand now. Many thanks again. In ictu oculi (talk) 04:50, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
Um, sorry afterthought - another quick question: the image use at Rough_Guides#Music is okay? if it shows a record company's distinctive format or first notable release? In ictu oculi (talk) 05:01, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
I'm no expert, but I think use like that is allowed if the CD or the CD cover is actually discussed within the article text. Another example is the famous Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band record cover used in the Beatles article. --DAJF (talk) 05:33, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

Oshin

There are some not so great edits on this page. I am not sure of the policy here. Can you please help decide what to do with these edits? Thank you. Mysterious Island (talk) 02:34, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Also, can you look at these edits on Toho? Thank you. Mysterious Island (talk) 06:47, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
The Oshin edits looked like unsourced opinion, which another editor has already reverted. You are also free to revert edits that add unsourced, unconstructive material like that. The Toho edits mostly added promotional blurb by an editor who appears to have connections with the company, and thus has a conflict of interest. I have reverted the edits and left a note on his/her talk page about the conflict of interest of issues. --DAJF (talk) 12:30, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. I will take a note of what you did. Mysterious Island (talk) 12:41, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for helping me in about Idoling!!! articles --27.141.60.98 (talk) 13:24, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

That's OK. I'm not sure why your edits were seen as vandalism by other editors, but maybe it would be a good idea to include an edit summary when you make changes in future to avoid any confusion. Anyway, happy editing! --DAJF (talk) 13:27, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

My reverts

I agree with the points you made; while using Huggle it is sometimes difficult to ascertain vandalism in certain instances. Cluebot initially identified the edits as vandalism, which is why I reverted the subsequent edits by the same editor, although I now see that was a mistake. I will be more careful in the future - thanks for bringing this to my attention. TheSuave 13:40, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

OK, thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding. It looks like the issue has now been resolved. --DAJF (talk) 13:49, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Muchiuchi

Hi DAJF! One question... should this page exist? Muchiuchi. Thanks. --Cuoralho (talk) 12:25, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure. However, the Muchiuchi Kodama article it mentions looks more problematic, as the sole (unreliable fan-generated) source does not support even half the details in the article. I would recommend going ahead and nominating it for deletion at WP:AFD. --DAJF (talk) 12:46, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
Yeps, I already contacted an administrator to speedy delete it. O__o That article makes no sense, literally. Fist of all that game has more than one designer... but the editor (gvnayr, who else?) decided to create Muchiuchi Kodama, you know, just for fun, ermmm. --Cuoralho (talk) 13:01, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
I don't think it is speediable. Why not go ahead and nominate it for deletion yourself? --DAJF (talk) 13:16, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
I never did it before, so I don't know how to do it yet. You can help! :) --Cuoralho (talk) 13:22, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Hydao

DAJF, I'm Hydao. honestly, I don't know why you guys bother wasting your life time with these things. I'm not a vandal or any thing like that, I was blocked for saying the truth to that "gvnayr" (who is an uber irresponsible user (since 2006)), blocking the "Sockpuppets" accounts or whatever will not solve the major problem. seriouly. this account will be blocked, so what, then I create another one.... my edits are non-profit, you don't know me and vice-versa, so I dont understand what's the point. I'm here to make useufl contributions, who cares about the sockpuppet or whatever...? It's gvnayr who should be blocked (for adding false and nonsense info all the time), not the human being behind the "hydao". --Cuoralho (talk) 14:17, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Admin

Hi there. I came across your edits and found them to be very impressive. I'm sure you've been asked this before, but I'm wondering if you've considered running for adminship. I'd gladly nominate you if you want to take the leap, though if you'd rather not due to RfA being hell I understand. As long as you have the experience on what you'd like to do, as well as noting some of your best work on the site, there shouldn't be any issues (I know you mostly work on articles which is a plus). Wizardman 04:16, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for you comments. To be honest, I'd prefer stick to editing the nuts and bolts of articles for the time being, rather than getting too tied up in admin activities, but that's always something to think about in the future. Thanks for the suggestion. --DAJF (talk) 09:52, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

How do I know if an image I find on the internet is okay to upload on Wikipedia? Evangp (talk) 06:25, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
If a file is clearly marked as having been uploaded under a Creative Commons license, then it is usually OK to upload these to Wikipedia (or Wikipedia Commons), but 99% of images you see on the internet are not available for free use and may not be uploaded. To put it simply, if the photo was not taken by you yourself, then you probably should not be uploading it to Wikipedia. Does that clarify the situation? --DAJF (talk) 06:35, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Momoiro Clover Z

Hi! Could you look at the article about Momoiro Clover Z and maybe reassess it for WikiProject Japan? Cause I have encountered some problems at its DYK nomination, and need help either with correcting it a bit of just demonstrating to some people that the article is okay by Wikipedia standards. A WikiProject assessment would help. --Moscow Connection (talk) 11:01, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

Kagawa Education Institute of Nutrition

Hi, thanks for contacting me. Yes, I removed a sentence in the article for the alleged Kagawa Education Institute of Nutrition. I say "alleged", because the article mixes things up quite a bit, and I don't know how to fix it all properly (e.g. I don't know how to change an article's title). Kagawa Education Institute of Nutrition is not the name of the university, but the name of a "corporation" (probably not the right word, maybe "foundation" would be more appropriate). And this corporation runs a junior college and a university, the latter of which is called Kagawa Nutrition University. Then there is this sentence that I deleted in its entirety: "In 1965, Kagawa Nutrition University was reorganized and renamed the School of Nutrition Sciences." I was looking through both the Japanese wiki entry of the university and the university's English history site (to which there is a link right after said sentence), but couldn't find any mention of the university ever having had a name different from Kagawa Nutrition University, and, well, it was always called Kagawa Nutrition University from its foundation till today. But then looking again, now, I found out what the author probably meant to say: Not the Kagawa Nutrition University had its name changed in 1965, but the School of Home Economics, which is just a faculty of Kagawa Nutrition University. Cheers — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.158.211.124 (talk) 13:50, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for coming back to comment. I see what you were trying to do now. Sorry for reverting your earlier edit, but there was no explanation, and a quick look at the official website had "Kagawa Education Institute of Nutrition" as the title. Anyway, I see now that the article is indeed rather mixed up, so I will change the article name and reword it. Please have a look again, and see if it needs any more changes. --DAJF (talk) 14:05, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Perfume Japanese Band

I'm rather new to wiki. I noticed that the picture of the band was rather outdated. So I updated the page with a newer picture of the girls. That is why I deleted the previous picture. (JackiedozJackiedoz (talk) 02:10, 24 April 2013 (UTC)).

Hi. Unfortunately you have now uploaded a copyright image to Wikipedia Commons, which will be deleted shortly. We can only use free images on Wikipedia, which generally means only photos that people have taken themselves. --DAJF (talk) 02:12, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Yokogawa Electric

The reason for stripping out a lot of properly-sourced information from the Yokogawa Electric article is surely that User:Ogieblyn works for the company, i.e. COI. The information about the 日経新聞が発表した企業ランキングNICES 2011日経新聞が発表した企業ランキングNICES 2011 (that treatment of employees was ranked 2nd to bottom of the Nikkei NICES top 300 for 2011) was found in the Japanese Wikipedia article, which contains other scandals like the massive food poisoning at the summer festival of the big Kofu factory, and a bribery scandal in 2012. The company rugby team was suspended for several games after cruel insults were directed at an Iwate player not so long after the Tohoku earthquake / tsunami disaster. LittleBen (talk) 13:00, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure whether we can deduce any conflict of interest from just one edit, but I have re-added some of the sourced text that got lost in the earlier update/rewrite. I think critical details such as the ranking you mention above will need to be more solidly supported by verifiable sources before they can be included, as cross-referencing to the Japanese Wikipedia article doesn't sound acceptable to me. --DAJF (talk) 00:15, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

Tobu Isesaki/Skytree Line

I'm thinking of reverting the Isesaki line article back to the version that included all stations from Asakusa, and redirecting the Skytree line page there. It appears that the "Skytree Line" moniker is an unofficial one that refers to the portion you've got it marked as now, but the official name of the entire line is still the Isesaki line. See [1], which contains the note "※浅草駅・押上駅~東武動物公園駅の路線愛称は、東武スカイツリーラインです。" What do you think? Your Lord and Master (talk) 23:40, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I'm in two minds over this... The "Tobu Skytree Line" name is definitely official in the sense that that is how it is described on all Tobu publicity and station signage, but I tend to agree that it could be better handled by a single Tobu Isesaki Line article with a note indicating the name for the Skytree Line portion - in a similar way to the Japanese Wikipedia article. --DAJF (talk) 00:00, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, that's how I was planning to take it. Tell you what, I'll dash one up in userspace later today, and then post a link here, so you can take a look at it first, make changes and all that. That OK? Your Lord and Master (talk) 04:14, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
That sounds OK to me. Moving everything back will be a bit time-consuming, but the new Tobu Isesaki Line article itself probably won't need a lot of work. --DAJF (talk) 10:45, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Sasikrishnan

Hi I am Papasart. thank you so much for your cleanups but I have once again removed the maintenance templates because these issues have been resolved as far as I can see. Apart from that, could you kindly help me with TALK. I don't know how to reply to talk messages. Please help if possible. Papasart (talk) 13:57, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

I'm afraid the article still appears very promotional, and your removal of the relevant maintenance tags was frankly premature. As for replying to talk page messages, just add a reply - like you are doing here. --DAJF (talk) 14:08, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

Notability of Japanese ambassadors

In the context established by Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Susumu Shibata, may I ask you to to take a look at two related articles. I wonder how to measure consensus opinion about Tsukasa Kawada‎ and List of Ambassadors from Japan to Algeria‎? --Ansei (talk) 17:31, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi. From the discussion at the AfD above, it appears that there is no clear consensus on whether diplomats are inherently notable, so I can't help thinking that it might be better to concentrate on bringing the existing article(s) up to standard before creating other similar stub articles. I've looked at the Tsukasa Kawada‎ article you created, and note that it doesn't yet have any third-party sourcing, which puts it in a similar position as the Susumu Shibata article that was nominated for deletion, so I would recommend working on that. Anyway, keep up the good work. --DAJF (talk) 23:42, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

Deletion about page Sota Fujimori

Hello, thank you for polishing the articles of mine. Unfortunately, I have to undo your deletion because this is school project. We have an assignment to make the page of the Wikipedia, and I done Sota Fujimori. So, can you just keep this article when I finish this assignment? Due date is May 22. Since I don't want so much changes of my process journal, please keep this page while this project is finished. --15joonp (talk 03:16, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Unfortunately, you once again removed valid maintenance tags without addressing the issues raised. The fact that this article was created for a school project, is, I'm afraid, not at all relevant here, and if you remove the maintenance tags again, you can expect to be blocked from editing without notice. Sorry for the harsh warning, but that's how it works. --DAJF (talk) 03:32, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
Hello, this is little bit another issue, I saw that you decided to deletion on May 15 in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sota Fujimori. Do you think it have to be deleted? Please check it again and decide whether it have to be deleted or not? If you and one other user permit to keep, I will convey your opinion to nominator that can go on speed keep. Thank you. 15joonp (talk) 12:09, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
Hi again. Unfortunately you haven't provided any reliable sources (Wiki-based sites do not constitute adequate sources) or in-depth third-party coverage, so it is still difficult to see how this passes the basic notability guidelines for Wikipedia articles. Sorry, but I haven't seen anything to change my mind yet. --DAJF (talk) 12:20, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Fukuoka Kyuden Kinen Gymnasium

Why did you say the Fukuoka Kyuden Kinen Gymnasium was opened in 2003 when it clearly opened in 1964? Evangp (talk) 09:27, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

Maybe it was remodeled and reopened in 2003? I can't read Japanese, so please help me with this issue. Evangp (talk) 09:33, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi. The source quoted says it opened on 1 August 2003 (Heisei 15). It doesn't say anything about remodelling or any 10th anniversary, so I have to ask where the 1964 date comes from, and whether you have a source for it. --DAJF (talk) 10:05, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Well, the Japanese Wikipedia article says it opened in 1964 and I do know it hosted concerts in the 1970s. Can you please read the Japanese article and tell me what you gather? Evangp (talk) 10:09, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Here's the link to the Japanese article ja:福岡市九電記念体育館 - I notice it mentions the year 2003, but the translation doesn't help me Evangp (talk) 10:13, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
OK, I'll have a look later, and see if we can clear up any apparent contradictions. In the meantime, I suggest we keep with the officially sourced text. --DAJF (talk) 10:47, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. I will wait for your reply. Take your time. Evangp (talk) 11:07, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

TemplateData is here

Hey DAJF

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:19, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Maintenance tags on voice actors' articles

Hello. Lately, I've noticed that you've been adding maintenance tags (usually BLP sources tags) to the articles of several voice actors and actresses. I was just wondering: if in the article the content is mostly just a list of roles, is it necessary to source every single one of them, even if the role is so minor that the anime's website's cast page does not even mention the role? Or is a link to the article a good enough source? Thank you and happy editing. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:28, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I don't think it is necessary to source every single title, as that is not the case even for well-developed Hollywood actor articles, so I don't think there is any problem if the linked Wikipedia article (for the work) mentions the role, and ideally is properly sourced. However, if a role is not mentioned on the official site, perhaps because it is minor, then that does present problems, and it should really be removed unless a reliable source can be provided. I hope that all makes sense! --DAJF (talk) 00:42, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Would this mean that in most cases, a BLP sources tag in such articles is not needed, or do they still need to be tagged? I can understand if the article has an (unsourced) biography section (like Yukari Tamura), but if it's just a list of roles, does it still need a bLP sources tag? Thanks. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 07:18, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi again. The honest answer is that I'm not really sure. However, if an article is clearly lacking reliable sources, my view is that it's a good idea to tag it as such with the "BLP sources" template, or leave the tag in place if it is already there. This will then help to bring the article to the attention of outside editors, in addition to the editors already working on the article, who might then be able to help out by adding more sources. While these maintenance tags can often be viewed as "black marks" by editors or creators of articles, they do actually serve a beneficial purpose in helping the article to be expanded and developed, so I think we should be careful about trying to remove them too quickly. --DAJF (talk) 01:00, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

--116.80.34.199 (talk) 15:40, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi. If Japanese is your native language, and you are not proficient or confident enough to contribute in English here, did you know that there is a Japanese Wikipedia? You may find it easier and more productive to contribute there instead. --DAJF (talk) 05:14, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

I would like to hear your opinion.

Hello. Thank you for telling me the rules about the use of images and I’m sorry for bothering you.

By the way, I’d like to discuss the Comedy music page. In my point of view, the songs of Momoiro Clover Z seems to be in the genre of comedy music. Asahi shimbun says that Momoclo “can transform themselves into superheroes, salaried workers and others without missing a note”.[2]

Would you mind watching the short movies below? Aren’t they comical and humorous? (These movies aren't appropriate for the use of references; just for your information)

Of course, your perception may be different from mine. I’d really appreciate you could tell me your opinion.--Anosola (talk) 15:26, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for providing some sample movie clips for reference, although they do confirm the fact that the group is just another idol group and is in no way comical. Do people laugh while watching these performances? The Asahi Shimbun article you quote makes no mention of them being a comedy act, either. Have a look at the articles for some of the other artists listed on the Comedy music page. You will see that they are all described as "comedians" or "comedy bands" in the article leads. And if you look at some of the performances on YouTube or elsewhere, you will see why. Do you still think Momoiro Clover Z really belong in the same article?
Anyway, before attempting to add Momoiro Clover Z to the Comedy music article, I suggest you first provide a reliable source that can be added to the the Momoiro Clover Z article to demonstrate that they are indeed a comedy group. --DAJF (talk) 00:57, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi again. I clearly understand what you meant. I'll look for a reliable source. However, another problem has just been created. Is the definition of Comedy music appropriate on the page?
If we apply the current explanation, Momoclo's most songs definitely belong to comedy music. The definition says "Comedy music is music that is comic or humorous in nature, encompassing a wide variety of music genres. Popular types of comedy music include parody music, novelty songs, comedy rock and comedy hip hop".
I'd like to hear your opinion again. --Anosola (talk) 01:27, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
The definition looks fine to me. And I still don't see how anyone would define Momoclo as a comedy group. Do you call them an "owarai unit" when you talk about them in Japanese? --DAJF (talk) 01:56, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
In my opinion, Momoclo is similar to "Weird Al" Yankovic listed on the page. They might not be comedians but they perform comedy music. If the definition is fine, it seems to be better to include both Momoclo and Yankovic. --Anosola (talk) 03:37, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
If you can provide even just one reliable source that demonstrates that Momoiro Clover Z are considered comedy musicians and belong in the Comedy music article, I don't think anyone can complain. Without any sources to back up your opinion, however, I'm afraid this would just be original research, and will also violate the guidelines that apply to articles on living persons, so please take your time. I myself have tried searching for sources (in both English and Japanese) that refer to Momoiro Clover Z as being comedy musicians, without any success. Maybe you can turn up something I have missed? By contrast, a quick Google search turns up page after page for "Weird Al" Yankovic, such as GC: "2 Generations of Comedy Musicians Meet!: Weird Al Yankovic and The Lonely Island", Calgary Herald: "Weird Al Yankovic leads parade of geek music at Calgary’s Comic Expo", and Gotham News: "Comedy music legend Weird Al Yankovic". --DAJF (talk) 08:02, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
I appreciate your faithful advice. So I'll take my time and try to find the source. --Anosola (talk) 13:29, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Shin-Yokohama Raumen Museum

Why did you remove the edits I made? It said that I used copyrighted information which I don't believe I did. I only took information already in the Wikipedia article "Ramen" and combined it with what was already in the museum article. Thank you for your response. Ask4me10 (talk) 21:07, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

I see. In that case, you probably did not have any reason to suspect any problems, but unfortunately that text had still been lifted directly from the Japan Guide site. I have remove the copyright-infringing text from the Ramen article too. Thanks. --DAJF (talk) 23:27, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

about the One-man_operation article - trimming

Hello once again DAJF. Thanks for your assistance with the article.

I have trimmed the sections of the article, that you thought irrelevant. I would argue that they are still relevant though I do agree with you that I can have a tendency to over "newsify" the article.

What do you think - is it useful in the trimmed versions?

Hi. As per the guidelines at WP:LINKSTOAVOID, links to personal websites or blogs are generally not considered appropriate for Wikipedia articles. If you believe that other links in the Hashima Island article similarly contravene the guidelines, please feel free to remove them. I hope this clears up any confusion. --DAJF (talk) 23:55, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

about the One-man_operation article - "to the UK only"

Hello again DAJF.

You have argued the following: "remove statement that applies to the UK only - and is not necessarily universal) updated since my last visit". I would argue that it is in fact a universal security prerequisite of one-man operated passenger trains that the driver still needs to be able to see the entire train. Without any research I can quote sources from Denmark, the UK and the US saying that it is a security requirement. Furthermore I would easily be able to find other sources indicating that this is quite the universal security requirement. How many sources would you want cite in the article before allowing it to be written as before your edit?

I can further add that whether or not the driver can actually see the entire train is on of the absolutely most discussed things between the unions and the train operating companies. E.g on the New York subway where one man operation is only applied on the shortest trains. Henry1500 (talk) 18:26, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi. The problem lies/lay in the blanket statement about mirrors and CCTV being an absolute prerequisite for DOO, backed up by a UK-specific source. We need only one source to back up the statement - provided it reliably verifies that this is indeed a universal worldwide requirement. But if sources (like the UK McNulty report) apply only to individual countries, then maybe you could consider adding them instead to the individual country sections. --DAJF (talk) 23:39, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

Possible upgrade effort for Kitano wiki page in month of October

Thank you for your contributions to this page. As you may have noted Kitano has had a recent new book biography by Sean Redmond which is being well received. Could you possibly glance at the page from the viewpoint to indicate the TOP five (5) things which are needed on this wikipage to get the page a promotion to a slightly higher page review status. This would help for me to try to set up a thirty day plan or a forty day plan to try to accomplish. Once again, thanks for your contributions to this page!

Reference page: Takeshi Kitano 72.68.5.132 (talk) 08:50, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi. As far as I can see, the only immediate - albeit relatively minor - hurdle at this stage for promoting it to a "B-class" assessment for WikiProject Japan, if that is what you are referring to, is adding more citations to back up the large number of unsourced statements in the article. It will certainly be necessary for promoting it any further, such as to "Good Article" status, so that would seem to be the best thing to get stuck into now if you are looking for tasks to do. For suggestions on more long-term improvements that will be required, Wikipedia:Peer review would be a good place to have it reviewed in more detail. --DAJF (talk) 14:04, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

For User:DAJF. Looks like a good approach. When I started yesterday looking through the Kitano page there was, however, only one instance of a "citation needed" template there to be repaired. Today I plan to start to add some of his childhood information in the Personal Life subsection at the bottom. If you could add the other "citation Needed" templates to the main body of the article then I can try to get them addressed during the upcoming days. My appreciation for your comment above! 209.3.238.61 (talk) 15:41, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Years and Discography

Can you show me where in MOS: Discography where it's a hard rule to specify individual years per line? I'm seeing featured list articles like Celine Dion singles discography and 50 Cent discography where the years in the table are still merged. -AngusWOOF (talk) 17:25, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I presume you are referring to my recent edit to the Rino Sashihara article. On closer inspection, I must admit that the accessibility issue I was alluding to does not appear to be mentioned specifically in the manual of style guidelines for discographies, and I was mixing up what I had read previously in the guidelines for filmography tables. While the the Discographies project guidelines don't seem to include any explicit mention on using or avoiding the "rowspan" parameter in tables, the sample tables at Wikipedia:WikiProject Discographies/style do use the more accessible style, so I think it looks like good practice to try to ensure accessibility like this wherever it does not interfere with the general clarity of the article. --DAJF (talk) 00:05, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
Okay, that makes sense. I will add "sortable" on those tables as well. I noticed that if I click the "year" column on that, it will list out the rows per year. Although I do have some concern about not having the single no. column as that group makes a big deal on the numbering of their major singles and it shows when a member does not appear on a single in that period. -AngusWOOF (talk) 00:38, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
Hi again. About the single numbers that appear on a lot of the AKB48-related, I was just concerned that they were unofficial, and seemed almost arbitrary in some cases, when some singles (e.g. charity singles) were for some reason not included in the numbering scheme. But if these are truly part of an official numbering scheme, then I agree that they perhaps ought to be included/restored in the relevant Wikipedia articles. --DAJF (talk) 07:25, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, they refer to them in notable national media events such as the annual elections. I only know of two singles (that charity one, and "Sugar Rush" for the Wreck-It Ralph movie) that were not officially numbered. I'll see if I can tweak that discography. I agree with you about removing the numbers from the individual solo singles and albums even when J-Pop and K-Pop artists like to number them since those are self-evident. -AngusWOOF (talk) 14:23, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

about kamiya hiroshi blcd section

hei, about the section that you deleted in kamiya hiroshi page. yes I do aware that wikipedia is not a fansite. I just noticed recently that in his japanese wikipedia the blcd section is already there for so long and I just wonder why there is no one add it on his english wiki page. so I did, twice and you deleted it twice. I did check carefully before I added the list, and I have listened to the most thing I added on the list so I'm 100% sure it's accurate. and about the reference I can added the link to the official site where we can order the cd but it would be too much like a commercial so I added the wikipedia link instead. that's why I find your action to deleted the section just like that is really reckless, I wanna ask you, do you check the list before you deleted that? whether the list are really accurate or not? or you just deleted it just like that? because if you take time to do some research, you gonna find that the list is accurate. Feilusiana (talk) 01:14, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Unfortunately, the onus is not on other editors to hunt for sources that verify what you have added. Please read WP:PROVEIT. Note that if you cannot provide reliable sources to support the details you re-added, you are actually violating the guidelines at WP:BLP regarding biographies of living persons. Also the official sources you have now added are just catalog listings which do not appear to specifically mention the roles of Kamiya in various works. I have tagged the "BLCD" section as requiring a cleanup, so please remove all of the inline external URLs, italicize the titles (WP:WORKS), and render them correctly in accordance with the Manual of Style. Please also add an explanation of what "BLCD" stands for. --DAJF (talk) 05:04, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
the official sources I added are just catalog listings & do not appear to specifically mention the roles of Kamiya? wrong, it does. just click on the tittles and you'll get a full detailed of the cast. and it's mentioned kamiya name on every tittle I added in his wikipedia page. example example 2 example 3 example 4 please look carefully. I find it unfair that you labeled it 'failed' when you're the one who missed to see it. -- Feilusiana (talk) 16:48, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for adding actual citations for each title. If you can now just clarify the "BLCD" term and eventually rearrange the list in chronological order (preferably with release dates), I think the article will be looking in good shape. There's no urgency, so whenever you have time. Thanks. --DAJF (talk) 05:02, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

Akira Koike picture

What's wrong with the one I provided? Shadow never hurt anyone and it's newer than the current one in use. Curious. Cheers, Nesnad (talk) 07:23, 12 October 2013 (UTC) EDIT: Although I think it's not needed, I thought about the opinion you wrote in the edit summary and made the image lighter and added closer crop. Hope that helps you. Cheers, Nesnad (talk) 07:33, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi. In cases like this, in which someone (i.e. myself) reverts a bold edit made by yourself, while not a rigid guideline, the ideal procedure is Bold - Revert - Discuss, so it might have been better to put a comment on the article's Talk page and ask for other editors' comments or even raise the issue at Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan rather than just going ahead and reinstating your preferred image. Also, I note that your edits to the Akira Koike article and many others, are invariably marked as "Minor", which is rather naughty since they are clearly not minor edits, so I would urge you to re-read the guidelines at Help:Minor edit to refresh your memory on what are and what are not considered "Minor" edits.
But I'm sure you didn't come here to get lectured, so back to the matter of the choice of best image in the Akira Koike article. While I agree that a more recent photo is generally preferable, where available, if we were to objectively compare the two images we have, don't you honestly think the earlier, higher-resolution, image does actually show the subject's face more clearly? That was, and still is, my main concern, even after the improvements you made by tweaking the photo to lighten the shadow somewhat. Anyway, I'll add a comment to the article's Talk page so other interested editors can compare and comment on the two pictures we currently have available. --DAJF (talk) 00:30, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for the thoughts. I tend to think of my contributions as minor, but I suppose you might be right? I might over click the M. I'll read that link and think about that; but of course if I offered something substantial to the page I wouldn't mark it as minor. Anyway, I find it interesting that you think the picture hides his face. None the less, please switch it back though if the 2010 picture is better than the 2013 picture for you. I have no stake in preferring either, I just wanted to add variety to Wikipedia a bit. Cheers, Nesnad (talk) 01:51, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

Tokio (band) citation

Hi DAJF thanks for writing me back. I added a direct link to the ad on the main website of the company they are working for. Their name is printed in English. What else do I need to do? That's pretty solid evidence, don't you think?

http://www.new-fukushima.jp/

http://www.new-fukushima.jp/tvcm

http://www.new-fukushima.jp/tvcm_rice15

Here is more info from the same website, evidence of their claim the produce is safe (in English):

http://www.new-fukushima.jp/monitoring/en/result.php

Krekk (talk) 09:31, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for adding a reference source. As it verifies only that the group is currently advertising rice from Fukushima, I have modified and trimmed the wording in the article to match this. The last link you provided above doesn't appear to work, so it's not possible at this point to confirm whether their advertising campaign makes any explicit claims about safety, as the TV adverts don't. If you have any further sources to add to this, we can of course include them in the Tokio article. --DAJF (talk) 11:52, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
Yeah after rewatching the video I see that it just mentions the rice. But can you really divorce them selling the rice with the context of the website?
The bulk of the website is committed to selling the safety aspect of all kinds of agricultural produce:
http://www.new-fukushima.jp/monitoring/en/
http://www.new-fukushima.jp/monitoring_inspection
There are links on nearly every page talking about Cesium and radiation levels. The nuclear crisis must be at least mentioned here. Would it be better to start a new chapter and title it "Controversy"?
Krekk (talk) 02:48, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
Hi again. Unless we have reliable sourcing or news coverage that actually documents any controversy relating to Tokio's appearance in the Fukushima rice adverts, then I'm afraid it is not appropriate to describe it as a "controversy", and it should be treated no differently from their appearances in cooking oil or Yamato delivery service adverts. I would recommend at this point that you have a look at the guidelines concerning original research, and especially the section on "Synthesis of published material that advances a position", as that is what is happening here if we try to imply that the advert is linked to the Fukushima nuclear accident when it is not explicitly indicated in the sources we have. It might seem that I'm being overly sensitive here, but as the Tokio article concerns living persons, the Wikipedia guidelines laid out at WP:BLP also apply here, and they are quite strict about making unsubstantiated controversial claims about living persons. That is why we need to tread carefully. I hope that all makes more sense now. --DAJF (talk) 03:27, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I'll add some examples to the corresponding talk pages to allow better comparison of the alternatives that are currently available. --DAJF (talk) 05:19, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
