Looking for Wikipedians for a User Study edit

Hello. I am a graduate student in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. We are conducting research on ways to engage content experts on Wikipedia. Previously, Wikipedia started the Adopt-a-User program to allow new users to get to know seasoned Wikipedia editors. We are interested in learning more about how this type of relationship works. Based on your editing record on Wikipedia, we thought you might be interested in participating. If chosen to participate, you will be compensated for your time. We estimate that most participants will spend an hour (over two weeks on your own time and from your own computer) on the study. To learn more or to sign up contact KATPA at CS dot UMN dot EDU or User:KatherinePanciera/WPMentoring. Thanks. KatherinePanciera (talk) 02:37, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Note this edit

I was delighted to see from your user page that you dislike "it should be noted that" as much as I do. Thanks for the Google search link; I used it to remove a few and I thought I would share this with you. In years of doing this I have never killed three with one bullet before. That article really needs a complete rewrite. Best wishes, --John (talk) 21:17, 20 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Rowland_Shovel_Works.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Rowland_Shovel_Works.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:30, 21 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice?pd_THOR | =/\= | 21:30, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Portal:Current events/2008 April 22 edit

Hey, I removed your edits about Senator Clinton from Portal:Current events/2008 April 22 because what you claimed in the posting doesn't match what the link you provided says. The Times says Clinton trails by 150 delegates, not by 10. Corvus cornixtalk 22:00, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I didn't write anything about Clinton. I think you have my edit confused with another editor's. I also replied on your talk page. Coemgenus 01:25, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sorry. Never mind.  :) Corvus cornixtalk 02:49, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

King Billy edit

Hi, yeah, good job. I agree with you, however, that it still needs work. Particularly the last third of the article. Maybe the sections between 'Rule with Mary' and 'British succession' could be clearer, and some important details are missing, such as Billy's only victory in the NYW at Namur in 95. I may contribute more later next month. Cheers for now. 22:29, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Steve Scalise edit

Steve Scalise is an American politician and thus his page should use the American date format where a comma seperates the month and day from the year. Please see Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Full date formatting.--Dr who1975 (talk) 00:15, 12 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

repeated wiki links edit

Bonjour cher Coemgenus: Going thru a few articles related to the Bourbon dynasty of France, I notice your name here & there. Hence my writing you on the subject of repeated blue wiki links on dates, personages, cities etc. Once Paris or Louis XIV have been wikilinked, it is enough. Repetition of the process within the same article is unnecessary & disruptive. Is there a rule stating that Paris & others have to be wikilinked every time? Frania W. (talk) 22:13, 12 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merci Coemgenus for the guideline. What you say makes sense & is in line with what I thought. Bonne journée! Frania W. (talk) 13:04, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

My RfA edit

Hi Coemgenus, I wanted to say thank you for supporting my request for adminship, which passed with 100 supports, 0 opposes and 1 neutral. I wanted to get round everybody individually, even though it's considered by some to be spam (which... I suppose it is! but anyway. :)). It means a lot to me that the community has placed its trust in my ability to use the extra buttons, and I only hope I can live up to its expectations. If you need anything, or notice something that bothers you, don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks again, PeterSymonds | talk 23:07, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

John Henry Newman and Oxford Movement edit

Hi. Thanks for your recent edits to John Henry Newman and Oxford Movement. I noticed you removed lots and lots of date links within those two articles. I can understand removing some of them, but you removed quite a few that would be useful. Perhpas in the future you might want to consider each case individually for whether or not a date link might be useful. Again, thanks for your contributions. Dgf32 (talk) 19:36, 16 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Overlinking in articles is a pet peeve of mine, so I apologize if I was overzealous. The manual of style suggests that stand-alone years need not be linked, but if there's a good reason to link it, it's certainly permitted. If I've removed one (or more than one) that you think ought to be linked, I won't object to you reverting me. Coemgenus 19:44, 16 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
