Phosgene

Your contributions to the phosgene probably are much better suited for chemical warfare or such articles. The phosgene article is more focused on the fairly extensive chemical reactivity of this important compound including industrial apps. The practical reason for recommending that you relocate your material is that the experts in the geopolitical-warfare technology dont hang out at chemical articles and so your edits are not subject to useful review. Also your edits would be more impactful in those places. As it stands the edits risk being subject to WP:UNDUE, i.e. an extensive discussion of war crimes and things like that in an article about a chemical compound. Lowell's teaching stint in Iowa

I don't know what your resource on these dates are, but Poetry Foundation at http://www.poetryfoundation.org/bio/robert-lowell lists all of Lowell's university appointments, including his teaching stint at Iowa State University under the section titled "Career." And according to their site, he was in D.C. from 1947-1948 as Poetry Consultant for the Library of Congress. He didn't start teaching at Iowa until 1950. Edits in Peer Support

You reverted my recent edits in Peer support with the comment "Corrections unjustified and inconsistent with research. Consumer is not equal to psychiatric; Sexual abuse and peer should be linked." These edits were clean up edits, removing redundant wikilinks (always leaving at least one link active), fixing citation templates, and removing the redirects to the newly renamed Psychiatric survivors movement. Peer Mentoring

Hello CMacauley-- I see that you are an avid user of Badges, Amazon Reviews, and Wikipedia. I am interested in Peer Mentoring as a research topic. I'm beginning my dissertation in the Sociology of Media at The New School and it is very likely that I will be concentrating on under-resourced neighborhoods, teens, young mothers (under 20), and their trajectory to a "second chance" at college.

"Gantlet" and "gauntlet" are two forms of the same word, as you'll see if you read the article Running the gauntlet. No, "Gantlet" and "gauntlet" are etymologicaly and historically two words, with a good bit of ignorant usage blending them, as one need not read the article to know. Keeping the spelling consistent has its virtues, but so does catching the eye with a deliberate use of a semi-archaic usage. Ive heard english from birth, and read it for all but three years of it, and I've seen both uses from early on.Anmccaff (talk) 23:20, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Yanomami

I deleted the yekwana name, but you undid my deletion. So I wanted to point out that the Yekwana are another ethnic group living in the same area of Amazonas. In order to show you this, I inserted the link to the respective Wikipedia article about the Yekwana. There is a long history of conflict between the two groups in the Alto Orinoco area. If you heard the Yanomami calling their halozinogenic drug "yekwana", they (the Yanomami) certainly had a good laugh, but I assume that Yekwana is not the official Yanomami name of the drug. Or do you have a proof? If there is uncertainty about this name, you should give a reference of the use of "yekwana" for halozinogenic Yanomami drugs. Your edit did not clarify the point you are making here. I am very familiar with all the ethnicities of Northern Brazil, having lived there for many years. The drug is referred to as yekwana or yakoana in the Xamatari language, and the name also refers to the tree from which it is derived, Virola elongata. Yopo is actually a different plant with hallucinogenic effects, usually cultivated in the garden by the shaman. The Xamatari also mix the powdered bark of Virola elongata with the powdered seeds of yopo, (Anadenanthera peregrina) to create a slightly different drug called ebene. I refer you to Jacques Lizot's book Tales of the Yanomami (1976) to confirm all of this information. I have added a reference according to your recommendation. Please sign your posts in the future. Under 'yekuana' you will find many texts about the tribe 'yekuana'. So it is not necessary to say 'yekuana' for the drug, because all the references name it 'yakuana'. I would suggest to delete the 'yekuana', just to avoid confusion with the ethnic community with the name 'yekuana'. Or do you have a valid reference where the drug is spelled 'yekuana'? OK, Jim, I have changed the spelling in the article to yakoana, which is the spelling Lizot uses in his book and in his Spanish-Xamatari dictionary. It's worth noting that "Yekuana" is used to refer to the ethnic group only by outsiders; they refer to themselves as Maiongongo. Cmacauley (talk) 17:43, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Well, "Maiongong" seems to be the name which the Pemon (in Brasil) gave the Yekuana (see English and especially German Wikipedia about the Yekuana). In Venezuela they are also called "Maquiritari". John Winthrop Chanler

In October 2013 Cmacauley made an edit to the John Winthrop Chanler article adding that his mother was a granddaughter of Peter Stuyvesant. That was indeed her maternal grandfather's name, but this Peter Stuyvesant was in turn a great-grandson of the famous Peter Stuyvesant whose article is cross-referenced. John Winthrop Chanler's mother is therefore a great-great-great granddaughter of the Peter Stuyvesant who is being referenced. 65.196.23.66 (talk) 21:37, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

Not only did you place the picture insensitively on the page, so that the quotation was pushed into a narrow column to the left, but you increased its size against all Wikipedia guidelines.    Be polite. You could stand to learn more about this.
   Civilly work towards agreement. Don't tell me what I may or may not do.
   Argue facts, not personalities. My actions were not "nonsensical". 
   Do not intentionally make misrepresentations. Apologise if you inadvertently do so. Well?
   Do not ignore reasonable questions. I just wanted an explanation for your edit. Not unreasonable on my part.
   If someone disagrees with your edit, provide good reasons why you think that it is appropriate.
   Concede a point when you have no response to it, or admit when you disagree based on intuition or taste. 
   Although it is understandably difficult in an intense argument, if other editors are not as civil as you would like them to be, be more civil, not less. I want to post the following: But one of the most important aspects of the role is that the peer and the person served work on more equal footing, not with either one as the clear expert but more as equals, both parties can learn from one another in a more mutual relationship with the flow of giving happening on both sides. This allows the person served to be a giver as well as a receiver and thus aids significantly in the recovery needs of the person served as well as the continued growth of the peer support specialist.

I can't comment on what another editor is doing, but I suspect the problem is that you have quoted a personal communication rather than a published statement. WP relies on published research as sources. Have you contacted Materialscientist yourself? Try leaving a message on their talk page, to establish a dialogue to determine the problem. If you feel that you are being treated unfairly look at WP guidelines to find out what your options are. Anthony Hecht

I saw you reverted my removal on Anthony Hecht. I removed that per WP:DENY (and in a way per WP:RBI): the editor who added it is an editor who edits in violation of an original block (sockpuppet). The master in question is an editor who is thriving on contributing in competitions, taking proud of his additions (along the lines of: I do good, you see, my edits stand). I will deny any recognition of his edits until they return to their own account and return to regular editing (if that will ever happen). I am even considering to revdel their revisions. S and D image of Portsmouth Works

I've reverted your inclusion of the image here because while Lower Shawneetown is in the same location as the Portsmouth Works (mostly), the illustration of the Portsmouth Works does no actually illustrate what Lower Shawneetown would have looked like. I would love to have an illustration to add to that list (and to the article for Lower Shawneetwon itself), I just do not believe this one qualifies (else I would have added it myself years ago as I was the one who created that list and the one who uploaded that image). Wikipedia prefers that references be cited as footnotes. You can create a "Bibliography" section, but you shouldn't put book titles floating under "references" without an in-line citation. Of course, you can do whatever you like, I'm just offering a suggestion. I linked it to the CIA website because of the exceptionally detailed review, which I thought readers would find useful. Also, a raw URL is less appealing than is linking the URL to the book title. Readers will assume that there are two separate books, when in fact you are referencing two editions of the same book. If you have no objection, I will relocate your floating comment about the book and make it into a footnote, as per Wikipedia convention. "Linking" a URL and text in Wikipedia can be done by placing the URL in brackets with a space between it and the selected text. This allows a user to click on the text to jump to the linked page, and hides unsightly HTML code. I will link the book title to its Google page like this: Sons and Soldiers: The Untold Story of the Jews Who Escaped the Nazis and Returned with the US Army to Fight Hitler so that people can learn more about the book.

As for your strange belief that only spies can access the book listed on the CIA library page, you are misinformed. The CIA library lists the Harper Collins edition, which anyone can obtain, therefore it is unnecessary to footnote two separate editions of the book, which are nearly identical.
