Hi. I'm just gonna leave some notice though and I am aware you're having a wikibreak. You pointed out there were prose issues at reception, but the 2 paragraph about sexualization have been rewritten now. Thanks for all the feedback! 🍕Boneless Pizza!🍕 (🔔) 00:44, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

  • @Boneless Pizza!: Thank you for the message. I am currently taking a break from doing reviews, but upon a very quick inspection of that section, it does look better to me. I hope that the FAC is going well, and apologies for not being much help. Aoba47 (talk) 01:38, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you today for Kes (Star Trek), "about a fictional character played by Jennifer Lien from the sci-fi series Star Trek: Voyager. She is a member of the Ocampa, a telepathic alien species who have latent psychic abilities and a life span of only nine years. Featured in the show's first three seasons, Kes is primarily shown either handling her boyfriend Neelix's jealousy or helping the artificial intelligence known as the Doctor develop his humanity. The character was removed in the fourth season after Lien's unspecified personal issues affected her reliability on set."! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:50, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Akito Hyuga

edit

Hi there. How are you doing? Heavenly Delusion still hasn't been copyedited by the guild so I instead had Lelouch Lamperouge turned into a GA which was kinda tiring due to his popularity and large appearances. I currently have no other goals besides Heavenly Delusion, but I just realized an old article I created, Akito Hyuga, has potential to become a GA as there is both creation and reception sections cited. The only thing lacking is a copyedit to see if it can become another GA. It's a really small Code Geass article when compared to Lelouch so I wanted to know if you could give it a look and revise the prose. Anyways, happy editing. If anything, ask me for a favor like reviewing something. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 00:24, 24 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Tintor2: Thank you for the message. I am doing well. Just trying my best to be honest. I am in the middle of reviewing two FACs and a peer review at the moment, but when I am done with both, I will look through the Akito Hyuga article. What does stand out to me right away though is the Japanese citations will need to have English translations for their titles. I hope you are doing well and having a great start to your weekend. Aoba47 (talk) 01:25, 24 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
No problem. I did what you advised me. Tintor2 (talk) 23:44, 24 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
About Tidus. This is a really old FA I made in the past so after talking with the user working on Ada Wong about FA demands, I decided to follow the advices he got to rearrange Tidus' reception too. I'm trying to do the same with the GA Kyo Kusanagi too as it is also really old and thus removed most minor references.Tintor2 (talk) 17:01, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Tintor2: Thank you for the message. I do want to note that the prose for the "Analysis as a heroic figure" subsection could use work. I would not consider it on the level expected for a FA. I would avoid listing universities as ways to describe the researchers. It does not really help readers better understand who these people are and professors do work for different places over time. There are grammatical errors, like Kristofer F. Sjølie University of Oslo claims, a few spots where the university is directly attributed as saying something, i.e. University of Newfoundland said that and as said by Washington State University. That is just not true as neither of these universities are officially saying either thing. This subsection in particular would need more work. Aoba47 (talk) 22:44, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the advice. I'll try removing those parts. Tintor2 (talk) 23:56, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I did a brief copy-edit to the lead for the Akito Hyuga article (here), and here are some comments that I had for it:

  • The lead uses a lot of in-game terminology that would not make sense to an unfamiliar reader. For instance, what is the E.U. in the context of this game? What is a.t.b. or a "Knightmare Frame pilot"?
  • I removed the following from the lead, from Area 11 called W-0, as it was another part that does not really make sense to an unfamiliar reader. I think it may also be unnecessary details for the lead anyway, but feel free to disagree and revert this part back.
  • I have know absolutely nothing about the source material so I honestly do not understand what this sentence is saying: Akito is cursed with a supernatural "Geass" after command by his brother Shin Hyuga Shaing that he controls at will, allowing him to savagely kill his enemies in the battlefield, thus was given the title "Hannibal's Ghost" (ハンニバルの亡霊).

I do not think the article is ready for a GAN. The prose for the lead is rough, and I would say the same for the article itself based on my brief look through it. Copy-editing has never been my focus on Wikipedia and as I worked through the lead, I was more and more uncertain if I was the right fit for this. I am just not fully comfortable making changes, particularly to a franchise that I honestly know nothing about (and as I said above, the article does not give enough context or information for unfamiliar readers like me). I think it would be best to work with an editor with more experience in copy-editing. Apologies for not being much help. I just do not want to mess up anything. Apologies again. I hope you are doing well and having a good end to your weekend. Aoba47 (talk) 23:27, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the copyedit. If you find anything complicated to understand feel free to tag it. This week I tried revisiting his in-universe info to make it easier to understand. Tintor2 (talk) 23:26, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I saw your edit about this [1] and comments to other FACs. Honestly, that's a huge achievement that shouldn't be deleted (You should be proud of it). I love how you're too sincere and helpful to other editors aswell. Thank you for helping to improve articles. I hope you're able to stay in Wikipedia for long time. Just coming down here to say hi and enquiring on how you're doing, my friend. Hope all is well. I am slowly getting back to active editing and might get back full-time soon.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 10:58, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Ssven2: Thank you for the message. I am doing alright. I am currently taking a break from Wikipedia. I have been feeling self-conscious about my work on here lately so it seemed like a good time for that. I am glad that you are more active on here. Do you have any projects in mind? I hope you are doing well too! Aoba47 (talk) 22:30, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
I feel you. Real life sometimes gets to us all. It got to me hence I haven't been active much. I miss this place. Speaking of projects, I have got a pro wrestling related article (Money in the Bank (2018)) up for GA. I was wondering if you could take it up or if you know someone who works on articles related to professional wrestling if you aren't quite familiar with the sport. Thanks.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 03:17, 23 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, but I do not know of any editors who work in that subject area. You could try leaving a neutrally-worded message on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Professional wrestling to see if anyone is interested in doing a review. The GAN process recently introduced good article review circles so that may be worth looking into. To be honest, I am not entirely sold on the concept, but I can understand why they are trying something new since there is usually a large backlog for the GANs. You could also of course see what editors worked on past GAs/FAs on wrestling. I hope that these suggestions are helpful, and best of luck with the article! Aoba47 (talk) 17:15, 23 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have listed it under the Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling good article nominations so I hope someone takes it up. I'll wait to see if anything turns up. If not, I'll ask on the talk page like you suggested. Also, the good article review circles is interesting but yeah I see your point. I kinda feel old-fashioned when it comes to GA reviews. Asking your fellow editors you know around to see if anyone takes it up is how I am used to doing things. I will give the review circles a try though sometime.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 11:43, 24 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Pagtatag!

edit

Hi, Aoba47! I hope you're doing well. If you can recall, I sent Pagtatag! to FAC, which was withdrawn. I have addressed your concerns concerning the prose of Pagtatag!, which I think made the article read better; I am grateful for your comments. I sent Pagtatag! to a peer review two months ago now and did not get much traction. I was wondering if you could have another look at the article. I was planning to nominate it again for FAC this month after finally surviving my busy workload last September. Thank you! – Relayed (t • c) 10:31, 5 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

  • @Relayed: Thank you for the message. I am glad that you are still working on the article, and I am sorry to hear that the peer review has not been getting attention. It is always frustrating when that happens. I have done a few reviews lately, but I am more so on a break for Wikipedia for the time being so unfortunately, I will not be able to help right now. Whenever I do become more active again, I will message you and figure out the best place to post any comments. I have a lot of things to get to outside of Wikipedia, and I have been feeling very self-conscious about my work on here even though I am not entirely sure why that is the case. Apologies again, and I hope that you have a great rest of your day. Aoba47 (talk) 22:28, 5 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Aoba! Thanks for replying. I completely understand, hope you can get your things all sorted out and see you active once again. I'm sorry if I have bothered you, and you don't have to feel uneasy about your work! Wikipedians like you are what inspires me to do what I do today, and I'm sure that's also the same for others. I do hope you'll feel better any time soon; take as much time as you need. – Relayed (t • c) 05:39, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for understanding. Best of luck with the peer review and the future FAC! Aoba47 (talk) 13:45, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Moving Private Practice season 1 from FL to GA/FA

edit

Hello! Recently, there has been a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Featured lists#FLs for television seasons regarding how season articles should be classified, as they are currently split between FL and GA/FA. It seems the general consensus nowadays is that these pages should be considered as articles instead of lists. Given that, I've been working to identify pages that would make solid GAs; in my opinion, Private Practice season 1 would be a good fit in its current state, as it already covers production, reception, etc. alongside the episode list.

As the original FLC nominator, I wanted to know if you would be interested in nominating this list for GAN (and, if you wanted, to aim for FAC down the line). I'd be happy to chip in where needed and I'm open to any feedback you have on this topic – just let me know what you think about it. RunningTiger123 (talk) 21:47, 5 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

  • @RunningTiger123: Thank you for the message. I agree that it is more of an article than a list. I was actually working on this last month in my sandbox (and formatted citations for it), but I got rather overwhelmed by the process and stopped there. I agree that the article is in mostly good shape for a GAN. The only issue that I can see is the citations from the lead would need to be removed and any information that is only mentioned there would also need to be included in the article as well. It would need further work for a FAC, but that has a stricter criteria. I am taking a bit of a break from Wikipedia at the moment so I am going to have to pass on nominating it for a GAN. I might work on it again in the future, but I am not sure for now to completely be honest. Apologies for that. I understand and would be more than fine with this being demoted in the meantime. Thank you again, and I hope you are having a great weekend so far. Apologies again for not being much help. I just need to take a step back from Wikipedia for a moment. Aoba47 (talk) 22:24, 5 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Totally understand. For what it's worth, I'm not really looking to clog up FLRC with articles that are still good quality and just need to be reclassified. Hope you enjoy your break. RunningTiger123 (talk) 03:26, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the kind words! Aoba47 (talk) 13:45, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Charmed question

edit

Hey Aoba. I hope you are doing well and taking the necessary time off from Wikipedia to get your mojo back. Whenever you have time, I just wanted to ask, given your extensive work on Charmed articles, including research in magazines, did you ever come across any source/interviews regarding the making of the season three finale "All Hell Breaks Loose"? Or possibly on other episodes from season 3/4? That was arguably one of the best periods of Charmed and I would like (gradually, slowly, and whenever I have time and feel like doing so) to work more on these two seasons and their episodes. PanagiotisZois (talk) 13:48, 11 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the kind words. Great work with the episode article! Charmed is one of my favorite shows and one of the main things that inspired me to want to be an author. I think that it really shines in its first four seasons. Most of the coverage that I have found for "All Hell Breaks Loose" unfortunately was more about the feud between Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano and less about the actual production for the episode itself. It is a shame as I'd be interested to read about the writing process or Doherty's time as the director.
Later versions of the Charmed DVDs include special features so it may be helpful to see if any of those have been uploaded online. I'd imagine most of the online coverage on these seasons has died, so the the Internet Archive may be helpful for that, although I know it can be difficult to track down specific stuff on there (if it existed at all). I do not think production information for individual episodes was as readily available as it is now. Aside from "All Hell Breaks Loose", "Something Wicca This Way Comes", and "Forever Charmed", I am not sure that any of the other episodes are notable enough to be articles, but it is always worth looking into further as I could be wrong. I wish there was a book that went into more detail on the production information for the show, like Star Trek Voyager: A Celebration did for Star Trek: Voyager, but I doubt that will happen unfortunately.
Sorry for the long reply and apologies for not being much help with this. I appreciate the work you have already put into the "All Hell Breaks Loose" article, and I look forward to any further work you do on Charmed. If I ever decide to do further projects based on the show, it will most likely be for the character articles, as those have always been my favorite areas on Wikipedia. I really needed this break though so I do not see myself pursuing any major projects in the near future. That being said, I am always happy to hear from you so feel free to drop me a message anytime. I hope you are doing well and have a great start to your weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 19:49, 11 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your kind words as well. I also enjoy hearing from you, if you wanna message me in the future. :) I'm really happy with the current state of the article, but unfortunately you are very right about most of the coverage being about the Doherty-Milano feud, so no need to apologize for that. It's unfortunate that the House of Halliwell podcast never reached season 3 so that Doherty could discuss making the episode. From the few interviews I've seen, it seemed like she really enjoyed directing, so it would have been fun to hear what she had to say about this episode; alongside the other two she directed. She definitely had a talent for it, especially for an actress that was actually part of the project she directed; her performance in all three episodes was amazing.
Other than that, I hope you are also doing well. It will definitely be fun to see you work on more character articles. I've said it before, but I'll say it again; your work on the Russell family was phenomenal. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for your future work. And I hope you interest in being an author works out. I know how hard it can be to find the time and energy to sit down and write. Especially for anything that's novel-length. Anyway, cheers! :D PanagiotisZois (talk) 13:07, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I agree that Doherty did a great job with directing, and I wish that she was able to transition into being more of a director as she did seem to be really passionate about it. It would have bee nice to see her have a similar career trajectory as Roxann Dawson who acted on Star Trek: Voyager and later transitioned to being more of a director. It would have cool to even see Doherty direct more of the genre fare on the WB and the CW, like an episode of The Vampire Diaries, as I think her time on Charmed could easily translate to that and would have made me more interested in checking them.
I appreciate the kind words, particularly about the Russell family articles. I know that I get way too negative about my past projects, but I am proud of my work on those articles and that I was able to successfully bring them through the FAC process. I have always loved Passions so I am glad that I was able to hopefully keep a part of that show alive in some sense. I am honestly so grateful for all of the help and support that I received at that time (and that I still receive). Working on those articles honestly feels like a lifetime ago lol. Thank you again, and best of luck with everything for you too! Aoba47 (talk) 17:50, 15 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Aoba47, not sure what tools you were using, but it seems like you're good at digging. Do you think there are other possible sources that you could find for Claire Redfield 's reception section? Thanks! 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 15:28, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the message. Unfortunately, I do not think that I will have the time right now to look for further sources. I try to look through as many difference sources as possible, from a general Google Search to looking through Google Books and Google Scholar. I also go through the Wikipedia Library and Newspapers.com, although I am not sure how much coverage Redfield would have in newspapers. I like to play around with the settings to look through specific periods of time and to experiment with different search terms and combinations of search terms. I enjoy the research process, but it does take time. Sorry for not being able to help, but I hope that this gives some ideas or points of inspiration. Aoba47 (talk) 15:46, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
