Going to recreate a deleted page

Hi, I would like to recreate the deleted page about Movavi, a software developer and vendor, and keep it strictly informative due to the reason of the initial article deletion. I think this company deserves an article because its software products have been reviewed by major IT magazines and websites like Macworld, Software Informer, TopTenReviews, and such. Do you think it's OK assuming there will be no advertising or promotion in the new article? Olegbv (talk) 06:59, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

I can't say. I am not a reviewer. You should ask these questions at the Tea House or post the article at Articles For Creation. In any case, if the article follows the Golden Rule and it is not promotional, or an opion piece then it shoukld be ok. -- Alexf(talk) 12:00, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

My contribution to Portland Spy Ring

Hello, I am not sure why you have deleted my external link contribution to the entry about the Portland Spy Ring:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portland_Spy_Ring

I don't understand why my journalistic article about this Spy Ring was any less worthy than the external links you have retained, such as from the BBC or the Ruislip website. My article was not advertising in any way, but a researched article about the Spy Ring and a hotel that was set-up at the building and which has recently closed down. I had thought that if I did a journalistic piece of relevance to a topic on Wikipedia, that this could be valid as an external link entry.

This is the link to my article:

Regards, Jon Danzig JonDanzig (talk) 16:41, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

You may be correct, but at first sight what we have here is the impression of a conflict of interest and an author spamming his website. The correct action in these cases is to ask in the article's talk page if it is suitable, or asking at the Tea House. Also you should read about external links and reliable sources. -- Alexf(talk) 16:49, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi! I joined Wikipedia today to write an article about the open-source project JWildfire, which I was working at now for about 3 years. In a few days we will happily see release 2.00 (which is really a high number for this project), and we already have lots of excited users from all over the world. I have tried to describe some of the key-features and the inventions of the project. But, you voted for deleting this content because you think it is irrelevant at all. I think, this must be misunderstanding. Could you please (short) explain what caused the problem? Any medium is welcome, if you just prefer a quick, Facebook-chat, we can do :-)

Sophie Hunter

In regards to this article, it was created by a sock of Fairyspit, WAY after their ban, does this not qualify it for WP:G5? LADY LOTUSTALK 17:21, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

I am not familiar with the subject, the author or the ban. I see you created an AfD so it has to run its course. The place to report these is not here but at AN. -- Alexf(talk) 17:36, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
It's in reference to an article you deleted Blacks Club created by a sock of User:Fairyspit, but Hunters article was created by a different sock of Fairyspit's. That's why I came to you lol Thank you! LADY LOTUSTALK 17:37, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
I see. I do remember deleting Blacks Club but had never heard of Sophie Hunter. -- Alexf(talk) 18:10, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi there Alexf

I wanted to see if you could help me with a confrontational and aggressive editor. I have found they are deleting sections that are verified links to city websites. Yet they are making citations that are not verifiable as they are a links that dead end with a pay fee to view publications as proof of verification of statements in article. This violates wiki guidelines of Citing Sources They are also otherwise not adhering to wiki policy regarding neutral point of view in their titles of their paragraphs. The article I have since edited is listed under Tahoe Park Sacramento ca.wiki Please let me know if you have suggestions so I can correct them I would greatly appreciate your assistance in this matter. I am new so I do not know all the ins and outs of the rules but I try my best. I will follow your suggestions to a T so as to not have my work be deleted unscrupulously.

Here is the article prior to my additions:

1990's to Present Resurgence-(non-verifiable source dead link no page to verify source pay to view site.)(too narrowed a title for additions 1990's to Present)

1991, residents created the Tahoe Park Neighborhood Association (TPNA), a non-profit organization focused on community improvement.[1] The organization worked on behalf of many community concerns, including traffic,[2][3] absentee landlords,[4] and crime.[5] (grounds not neutral, and promotional)

-(non-verifiable source dead link no page to verify source pay to view site.)

By 1995, the community's activism and civic participation had created a noticeable impact on the neighborhood, resulting in a resurgence for the area.[6] Beginning in the 2000's, additional organizations arose to represent the interests of area residents.[7] First-time home buyers and real estate professionals view Tahoe Park as a desirable alternative to pricier neighborhoods such as East Sacramento and Midtown.[8]

-(non-verifiable source dead link no page to verify source pay to view site.)

I also corrected the Subheading term:

"Native Representatives" They need a verifiable source that all "representatives" are indeed "Native" to the neighborhood it could be construed as misleading the reader to think they were all from Tahoe Park and raised in the community of Tahoe Park which they were not. Also they have not provided proper citations for stating they were native to Tahoe Park Citing Sources

I just edited the article today. I have no problem with their posting again provided they provide viewable verification which verifies what the paragraph is stating. Currently they are in violation of wiki guidelines as they don't have have verifiable pages that can be viewed which state what they are saying is true and reflective of the paragraphs in the article. The title 1990's to Present Resurgence is too tailored to truly reflect 1990's to present. Resurgence while is an opinion is not a factually verifiable by their citations in the paragraph and too limiting for further additions. I put 1990's to Present to be more inclusive of additions to the paragraph yet keeping within the context of the article section of time range.

Please let me know how to progress if they delete my verifiable citations and improvements. Currently the user is violating the guidelines and being Disruptive editing by deleting deleting verifiable links to the city website where the associations can be found. I am new to editing and try my utmost to obey rules as I learn them thank you so much Alexf for all your help Espada12 (talk) 22:19, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Espada12

You should report at either AIV if it is vandalism or at the Administrators Noticeboard as I do not have the time right now to even look. -- Alexf(talk) 22:23, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
For all who might be interested, I have updated the article's discussion page, Talk:Tahoe_Park,_Sacramento,_California, to reflect User:Espada12's concerns, as well as edits that I have made. I would encourage User:Espada12 to do the same so that any reader or admin can determine what actions, if any, are necessary. -- Sirrebral (talk) 07:06, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Uhm..."provided they provide viewable verification which verifies what the paragraph is stating" Sorry Espada12 but that is not how things work. Can't speak to your other concerns but I have removed an external link that was a wix account that is pretty much the same as a fan site. Also removed an inline citation that was added to the external link as we don't do that and it doesn't appear in the references anyway. The two of you need to find a way to work together and stop calling anything that isn't clearly vandalism "Vandalism". Even if it is wrong, as long as it is a good faith edit, it isn't vandalism.--Mark Miller (talk) 01:03, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

covered in gold

im still uncertain why my article was deleted, especially after i was told it wouldnt be. enuff znuff, the band that released covered in gold, is most definitely on wiki, as are the founding members, chip znuff and donnie vie. on their enuff znuff page, their complete discography is listed. covered in gold was highlighted in red, whilst the others were highlighted in blue. when i clicked on covered in gold, the page said there was no information listed on the page, hence its red highlighting. so i added information about the album. there was no copyright infringement as the write up was mine. there was no sales pitch attached. it was merely an informative detail of the album. please reinstate the listing....

Francquie22 (talk) 23:52, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Giving us the article's link greatly helps out and it is requested at the top of this edit page. Would it be so difficult to do? Anyway, I had to do the research for you (please note you know which article it is, we do not as there are thousands of deletions a day unfortunately): Covered in Gold (album)
Why was it deleted? It was stated clearly in the speedy deletion request as G11 - Advert. This was prominently posted to your user talk page here for you to do something about it. Paraphrasing that notice (still in your user talk page), it says :"the page seems to be unambiguous advertising". Why? Your writing had these selected sentences: "Everyone's favorite Enuff Z'nuff pays it forward with a heartfelt salute to the music and artists who inspired them!" and "Featuring an eclectic assortment of outstanding cover tune..". Clearly promotional. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a place for advertisement and marketing. Also, and this is so important that is one of the Five Pillars of Wikipedia: Everything must be written from a neutral point of view. You surely agree that the passages mentioned here are not neutral. -- Alexf(talk) 00:45, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Deleted Bornay Aerogeneradores

Dear Alex,

Recently and under user name Bornay that enter in conflict with the company name I change some informations regarding Bornay Aerogeneradores.

The reason why I do it is because I see some wrong links and I try to solve it and improve:

1) Bornay is a town in France, where there is a reference to Bornay Aerogeneradores (Windturbines) and then is redirected to List_of_wind_turbine_manufacturers

2) At List_of_wind_turbine_manufacturers there are some references to commercial brands, manufacturers of wind turbines like Bornay Wind Turbines. There was also Bornay that was redirected againa to Bornay and this was wrong because was a buccle city -> Wind Turbine Manufacturers -> City. I try to solve this by adding Bornay Aerogeneradores, with a very small information about the company, something like Vergnet.

3) I try to do not commercial and just to put small information regarding the company. Exactly like Vergnet. Also put a stub information.

How can I change, solve, and put it ok for wikipedia ??

Regards, Patrero (talk) 08:22, 6 October 2014 (UTC)PatreroPatrero (talk) 08:22, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

In order for an article to be in Wikipedia, the subject has to be shown to be notable. This is done by means of independent reliable references. This was not done. The compamny matching the name of a city is irrelevant. The list cannot contain entries without an article showing notability. As per your editing, if you have a conflict of interest you must declare it. Please make sure you read and understand the Conflict of Interest Guide before you do. -- Alexf(talk) 12:41, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Arseholic

Re http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arseholic

I am not sure why you have deleted this entry as a hoax. It was not a hoax and if you read the original entry you will see that I asked for references that may predate the original idea to create a new word. If contributors can quote earlier references then I agree it should be deleted but wouldn't it be interesting to wait until they do?

Please can you re-instate the entry? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.51.176.34 (talk) 23:21, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Could I please impress on you on the importance of following requests and policy? It would be very nice of you to read the instructions (prominently displayed at the top of this page when in edit mode), and follow them. It clearly requests you to start a new section at the bottom, to place a section header, so it does not get added to whatever was there in the previous section, as it gets mixed in and could be missed, and please sign your posts, none of which you have done. Also the requests states you should always place a link to whatever article or edit you are referring to. There are thousands of edits a day. The onus is on you to point to what you need instead of us having to do your search for you. That said, I had to find what you are talking about (it may be fresh in your mind as it was your edit, but doing hundreds of edits/fixes/notes and deletions a day, it is not as easy for us to remember). I understand you are referring to Arcot Road and the addition of a local newspaper. You have to understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia which only carries notable companies and other information. You cannot just add any comment or link without proper sourcing. Doing so it is construed as advertising the business, which is strictly forbidden. Are you related to the newspaper? If so, you have a conflict of interest which should be declared. -- ~~

Hi ,

I noticed this was deleted. Can you please advise why? Please and thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.160.90.246 (talk) 20:19, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

Sure. It was done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion because the article did not assert notability. It was a one-sentence article stating that he was a poet and quoted a few of his lines. No reliable sources. Only external link was to his website. Please don't forget to sign your posts. -- Alexf(talk) 20:25, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

User:Ilia932

Hi, I saw that you blocked this editor as a probable sock, but the sockmaster was blocked as an inappropriate username and in such a case, I think it is quite reasonable for such a user to re-register on another name. Am I missing something? --Randykitty (talk) 16:21, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

Maybe you are correct. The company-named account was blocked. Within minutes a new account created by them on the name of the company's owner sprung up and continued as if there was no issue, without discussion or even a question. That smelled of block evasion and an I-don't-care attitude. Then a third account started editing the same article, new account and no edits to anything else. That did it for me I and started the SPI. Is the third one legit? Maybe. Is this block evasion? I think so. *If* any one of them had come out and asked (in the article's talk page or in my talk page) I would have thought differently and would have engaged them in conversation and explained to them the issues with COI editing, etc. -- Alexf(talk) 16:31, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
You're right about all that. However, note that the blocking admin did not leave the usual template explaining to newbies how to handle this. That could explain the behavior you describe, I think. --Randykitty (talk) 16:33, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
You are correct. My fault on that one. I was having connectivity issues at the time and somehow the tool did the block but could not get to post the working and I did not realize it at the time. -- Alexf(talk) 11:22, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Page Deletion

Hi Alexf,

I did not find any reason, why you have deleted my page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HomesPakistan) from Wikipedia. It was not created with the intention of promotion. I have followed the same patter,n which another online platform has been using and created page on Wikipedia for information purpose. If you want to check, please have a look at this URL (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zameen.com).

Waiting for your reply!

Regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SFaysal (talkcontribs) 06:38, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

As explained in the deletion summary, it was done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion because the article did not assert notability. A new company may not be ready. Are you related to the company?. If so you should read the Conflict of Interest guide. By the way, mentioning another page does not help your case. Each article must live on its own merits. Lastly, you created a new subpage on my user space. Please do not do that. This is my talk page to communicate. Please remember to sign your posts. -- Alexf(talk) 11:22, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
Alexf, in that case, you can guide us, how to create a new page? I have mentioned another page just to let you know that I have followed the pattern, which already exists on Wikipedia. Let me create my page with improved content, more external and Wikipedia references. It might help me clarifying the purpose of my page and we can further discuss on it. Should I create? --SFaysal (talkcontribs) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.12.41.194 (talk) 07:46, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
You should ask these questions to the friendly folks at the Tea House. You can also read the help pages or post your proposed article at Articles for Creation. Be sure to read the Five Pillars of Wikipedia to understand how this works. -- Alexf(talk) 11:05, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Requesting assistance

Hey, I need assistance with User:178.202.135.29. I accidentally undid his edit on [1]. I was wondering if he was doing vandalism, but I'm not sure. Either way, I reverted myself and apologized on his talk page. I'm sorry for the mistake and I will be more careful, I just want to know about the user's edits. Thank you. --Kanashimi Hyoketsu 17:15, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

I see the reversion and the apology. No issues. You wrote you recommend to get an account. It may be preferable but remember it is not required so make sure you do not make it sound so. -- Alexf(talk) 17:23, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
Thank you very much. I hope it didn't sound that way, but I'm not that good with words. I just upgraded the version, so I am going to be slower until I'm used to it completely again. Hopefully I don't get in such a confusing situation again. Thanks again. --Kanashimi Hyoketsu 17:29, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Kaitoku-ji

Here's an attempt at a Haiku, even though it's more of proof that I read User:Alexf/CSD than anything else:

'bout Kaitoku-ji
the article wasn't bad
please undelete it

I've posted a message on the article's talk page to ask for undeletion, but I believe it went unnoticed. Either way, I would like to request for it to be undeleted, because I believe that if the Japanese Wikipedia is allowed to have an article about it, so does the English Wikipedia. A different content language (in my opinion) doesn't make a difference in notability. The only reason it didn't have sources is because I do not know the format for those and I doubt I can just copy them from Japanese Wikipedia without giving a romanized/transcribed version of them.

Thanks for considering to undelete. I'd like to request you to also put a talkback template on my talk page when you see this and have responded, because I'm not visiting Wikipedia that frequently and may forget. Looking forward to your response!

Wikipedias in other languages are independently managed. The rules may be different. We go here by the English Wikipedia rules. The article had only one short sentence and no sources whatsoever. You need to do better than that. Even Japanese language newspaper articles on the subject would be better than nothing. The format for citations is detailed at Wikipedia:Citation templates. -- Alexf(talk) 11:05, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

Redirect deletion?

An article was recently created about John Olatunde Ayeni CON, the Chairman of Skye Bank in Nigeria. As the biography was largely promotional and poorly sourced, and as I was unable to find any better sources than the man's own LinkedIn profile or the brief blurb printed by Reuters, I redirected the article to Skye Bank. You then deleted the page as an unlikely redirect. I'd like to know why? (Most specifically because, with the deletion of the redirect, the spammy poorly sourced bio has reappeared and if I redirect again, I'd like to know that the redirect won't be deleted again.) There are thousands of deletions done daily. After you posted the link (this is a redlink:Koan (musical duo)) I see it was deleted in February 2014 due to lack of assertion of notability (CSD#A7). Ilia932 (talk) 13:43, 15 October 2014 (UTC) Or wait, it was because of my sockpuppet status. That is the case because in the first case I didn't understand what rules there were for the accountnames, so I made 2 accounts with wrong usernames, which I didn't use anymore when I found that out. The ilia932 account is now my account that I use, that's not in violation with the wiki guidelines. I don't use the other accounts anymore, ever.

I understand your issue with the account names. That has been resolved. What it has not is your conflict of interest with the subject matter. I am not comfortable with restoring it, as it is a serious COI. You should read the Plain and Simple COI Guide before you continue. As per learning the mechanics of using Wikipedia, I am happy for it. Just please use internal links instead of external (I fixed the link to the discussions at @Jimfbleak:), and please remember to sign your posts. -- Alexf(talk) 13:59, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, Alex. I'm happy with your response, and I'll go along with it. I would have spam-blocked rather than soft-blocked if I'd got to it first, which would have avoided the roundabout way we have got here Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:06, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
@Jimfbleak: In retrospect I agree. Spamublock would have been more appropriate here. -- Alexf(talk) 17:15, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your response Alex. I will try to remember to master all of the mechanics of Wikipedia, thanks for the help with that! It's indeed a serious case of Conflict of Interest, but now i know more about the regulations of wikipedia I can and would love to make the article in advance of the aims of Wikipedia, rather than advancing the outside interest. I will try to make this article so educational as possible, adding the festivals/prizes that the films have won, some remarkable notes (if available). Maybe someone has more ideas for me to add some more information that they would know about the subject? -- Ilia932 (talk) 08:10, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Emad Asfoury

Hi, could you please have a look at Emad Asfoury? Do you think it is ready for deletion? It's a promotional article edited by a weird combination of SPAs. Would not be surprised if there was socking. Thanks. Logical Cowboy (talk) 02:44, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Sorry but I pass. Besides that I am not a good reviewer of the quality of an article (we have people that do that), I took a quick look and saw that he works in collaboration with Chopra. That stopped me. If you look at my userboxes page you would see why I would be biased, so I have to recuse myself in this instance.-- Alexf(talk) 11:59, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

About deleting "algorithm hierarchy in coding interview"

Hi Alexf, I just confuse about the reason "A11. Obviously invented" to delete my article. Maybe my article isn't suitable for wikipedia, but it is really written by my own. I am willing to contribute to wikipedia, but I just don't know what topic to write. Could you kindly tell me why del my article, maybe there is restriction of topic? Thanks Changyu.yang (talk) 11:08, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

You have not linked to the article so I've no idea which article you are talking about. There is a reason why this is prominently requested at the top of the edit page. The article may be fresh in your mind, but with 100k+ edits, which means several hundred a day, there is no way I can recall every single instance. You have to point me to it so I can take a look. -- Alexf(talk) 11:59, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. The linked is as title Algorithm Hierarchy in Coding Interview -- Changyu.yang (talk) 13:33, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

I looked at the article again, (btw, please use internal links for WP articles - I fixed the link here). It is not suitable for Wikipedia. We are an encyclopedia and we only publish notable subjects with reliable references. Your piece was original research and your opinion. It was also promotional, (spamming a website). Furthermore, it cannot be published because it has an inappropriate copyright (as you stated yourself at the bottom). We cannot publish material that is not either licensed by CC-by-SA or Public Domain, in any case we cannot publish Non-free content. -- Alexf(talk) 13:50, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

Thanks again. I can remove website related paragraph and the copyright statement It is OK to be licensed by CC-by-SA or Public Domain to be free content. Just let you know, it isn't promotional at all, I just want to share the experience. Anyway, do as you should do. I fully understand and thanks for your clarifying. Changyu.yang (talk) 06:13, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

Licensing by CC-by-SA or Public Domain is required. That at the moment is immaterial, as the content of the article comes first. It was an opinion piece with detailed instructions. Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought, nor a manual, textbook, or scientific journal. Maybe you should discuss it at the WikiProject Mathematics first. -- Alexf(talk) 10:32, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

FC Bovver

Hello Alexf. I am writing to you concerning the deletion of my page FC Bovver. This was my first attempt at writing a wikipedia page and as a fan of the club I felt that it would be suitable for this to be my first page. As a beginner to wikipedia, I had not considered mentioning the integrity of this clubs following, nor the references or sources to which I got my information from. I understand now that this page was not yet suitable for wikipedia, and therefore ask you if you would be willing to send the code I wrote for this page. With this I pledge to improve the page by adding necessary sources and references. Thank you. Sven Olofsson.[[2]] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.185.246.236 (talk) 17:49, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Sven, you should read the instructions, especially the ones at the top of this edit page. You have not provided a new section so it bunched up inside of whatever was there before, and you have not provided a link to the article as required. Also you should remember to sign your posts. In order for a subject to have an article in this encyclopedia it must be notable. This is asserted by providing reliable sources. In the case of football or futsal clubs please check the requirements in WP:FOOTYN. Lastly, your request to userfy the article cannot be granted as you do not have an account here. If you have questions about Wikipedia, you can always ask at the Tea House. -- Alexf(talk) 18:00, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Evan Money's page

Hi Alexf,

I am writing to inquire about the recent deletion of Evan Money's page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evan_Money

Can you provide more info on why it was elected for speedy deletion? I believe I saw that the reasoning was that the subject wasn't notable...I suspect that I'll need more reliable sources, but please let me know.

Thank you! :)

Jeanietask (talk) 02:15, 18 October 2014 (UTC) Jeanie

(talk page stalker) Because not once, not twice, but thrice "articles" were created, full of promotional horsecrap like "Money lives his dreams and encourages others to do the same with his breakthrough seminars and as a highly coveted public speaker". Anybody who writes like that has no business coming anywhere near other human beings, much less trying to edit an encyclopedia. This article title has been blocked from recreation, to avoid further abuse. --Orange Mike | Talk 04:05, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
I wouldn't put it quite as eloquently as @Orangemike: but yes it did not have proper sources. Even if, it would have been deleted as a promotional piece. I read like a definite promo, even including a copyright violation in the image used. Wrong on so many counts. -- Alexf(talk) 09:24, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

Hello

Article for "Moe Rock" was deleted. Person is well known public figure that has worked on hollywood movies. Would like to work with you and correspond to ensure the proper procedures are outlined for the article to be reinstated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AdamGoldstein (talkcontribs) 18:06, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

Article was deleted for lack of assertion of notability. "Well know public figure" does not do much in Wikipedia, assertion of notability does. Would be nice and helpful if you linked the article as requested. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 20:05, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

"Vahid Takro" should be created

hello, this page "Vahid Takro" should be created. because he is an international singer in Iran, he won many awards in Tehran festivals, people should find him on Wikipedia, and wikipedia should know about him. thank you. we hope we can make it with many languages. it was ok some days ago but deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natasuncompany (talkcontribs) 21:49, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

Article was deleted for lack of assertion of notability. It did not have proper sourcing. On top of that it was written in a promotional tone and it was an autobiography. It was also slated for a while for being repeatedly recreated. It would be nice and helpful in the future if you linked the article as requested. Gekkos of Zimbabwe

Dear Alex,

You have deleted my article and all the hard work I put in. The deletion occurred whilst I was a. Appealing the initial tagging decision and b. Improving the article and expanding it So I lost all my work before I had a chance to save it

My article was 1. Encyclopedic, it is not a copyright violation I CREDITED BRANCH BILL, Snakes and Other Reptiles as my Primary Source, it is NOT 2. an advertisement or spam, NOR it is 3. an attack page or other form of vandalism.

I submitted four explanations to appeal the decision to delete. Forgive me if this seems personal but I have Zoology, Conservation and Veterinary degrees and am a native Zimbabwean. The patroller who tagged me is an Engineer in a European Country where English is not the first language as it is in Zimbabwe. If it helps at all I can submit a HAIKU image of a Gecko with my article along with the photo files I have. The apparent duplication my article was alleged to have infringed was for GEKKO that is an ASIAN genus of lizards my articles was about AFRICAN LIZARDS being O. Gekkonidae. Thousands of tourists (and locals) visit Game Parks in Zimbabwe to see Large Game....the chalets, tents, lodges etc are teaming with geckos that eat the mosquitoes and other bugs.......so many visitors to Zimbabwe ask me about the little critters (geckos).....they see....so I do see a need for this article (and the amendments I submitted at the same time i was deleted) I am baffled by this process of deleting a thought-out article and an established need ....... I never even had an any feedback from my appeals

The only error I can see is inconsistency in spelling (I will check my spellcheck more vigorously in future....even when my articles are stubs) I apologise for that.... PLEASE REINSTATE GEKKOS OF ZIMBABWE It may need to be amended to GECKOS (standard english).....but it had the makings of a good article ..... and i and others would have edited it and improved it WITH THANKS DrC.Humphreys (talk) 22:33, 19 October 2014 (UTC)Clive HUMPHREYS DrC.Humphreys (talk) 22:33, 19 October 2014 (UTC)DrC Humphreys

I would appreciate if you started a new section as required, instead of putting your message in another totally unrelated section. Also, once is enough. I've no idea why you repeated your message twice. The article was removed because we already have an article on gekkos. If you feel we need a special section on Zimbabwe, you should discuss it first in the article's talk page, or if you want more exposure, and a better discussion, the place is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Amphibians and Reptiles where the more knowledgeable people are. I am willing to usefy the article for you if you want. so you do not lose your work. Do not recreate the same article without discussion. It will be removed again by administrators for the same reason. Ask at the indicated project, and indicate if you wanted userfied to continue working on it. -- Alexf(talk) 23:15, 19 October 2014 (UTC)

Dear Alexf Thank you for usefying my article. I am a relatively new / infrequent user so am trying to figure this all out (like submitting something twice because it doesnt appear to have been received) I have looked at WikiProject Amphibian and Reptiles and stubs and starts make up 96% of all topics. But they will hopefully give me guidance. I m not sure how to contact Usefy but hopefully will get there. Gekkos are an Asian Genus of Lizards....I wanted disseminate information on African Lizards of Order Gekkonidae Hopefully I ll make some progress. How do I suggest a category at the end of an article ...like <zoology> and <heretology> many thanks Clive DrC.Humphreys (talk) 23:59, 19 October 2014 (UTC) DrC Humphreys

Prajyot mahajan

Hi,

Myself Fredrick Ellifsen, i am the manager of Prajyot mahajan.

The page Prajyot Mahajan is not unambiguously promotional also it is not an autobiography,

it is a user page made by myself and i made this page with the name of my artist prajyot mahajan ,

because... the people in india must know about the biography of artist prajyot mahajan. He is an musician and we have legal information :

1. official facebook fan page account i.e www.facebook.com/mahajan.prajyot

2. official website i.e www.prajyotmahajan.in

3. twitter account www.twitter.com/prajyotmahajan

4. Reverbnation www.reverbnation.com/prajyotmahajan

also refer news articles page :

http://www.deshdoot.com/detail_archive_news.php?type=region&id=4318241&region=Deshdoot Times&month=5&year=2014&cid=

We are not at all promoting any bussiness, its just we are helping this artist to get on internet, as people look on internet for finding information and history about prajyot mahajan

Please do look after it and cancel the page deletion. either you people make the Profile, i will provide the matter or let me do the same.

Regards,

Fredrick Ellifsen — Preceding unsigned comment added by Prajyotmahajan (talkcontribs) 20:51, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

You are not promoting? Then what is "we are helping this artist to get on internet" if not promotion? You do not seem to understand Wikipedia. This is an encyclopedia of notable subjects. His website, FB or twitter accounts are not reliable sources. Also, having a serious conflict of interest does not help your case. Article restore to a user sub-page?

Mairia Cahill gone,
Empty page, snow white, blank-

Oh - wait. You don't like haiku, apparently, according to #6 above, even though the last paragraph of this page explicitly says you do. That's helpful. Anyway - I would like to work on an article on Mairia Cahill, and I see that there already was an article that got speedied. Speedy delete

Hi there. I can't supply a 'red link' as I don't know what the url was, but the page was 31 DOVER. I'm working hard to get links and relevant content that is not an advert for this business. I've just set up a link for them here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dover_Street so that should help, right?

We've had lots of media attention recently, so people are searching for us in Google and consequently feel we should have a Wiki page. I've tried to just give facts and not advertise. How about this?

STARTS>>

The concept of 31 DOVER was developed at the company offices at 31 Dover Street link to Dover Street, London. The business was created by the founders of Vanquish Wine - a central London drinks distributor to the trade, supplying the capital’s restaurants, bars, hotels and nightclubs with wine, Champagne and spirits.

Vanquish has dominated the London drinks trade for over 10 years, and in 2010 won the Drinks Business of the Year Award. It was this industry strength that enabled 31DOVER.com to rapidly become the best-in-class drinks website in the UK.

<<ENDS

I could start adding links to media coverage, too, if the page stays up long enough, and include info on the directors if that helps? Vanquish, the parent company supplied drinks to all the most famous celebrity hang-outs in London, e.g. Chiltern Firehouse. Would mentioning this be an ad?

Is it good to add our You Tube channel?

Any advice much appreciated

Gemma — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gemma Driver (talkcontribs) 16:21, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

The external links in Dover Street amount to spam and have been removed. You have several issues here. First and foremost you talk of "we That indicates a conflict of interest. You seem to want to advertise the company here, a company that may not be notable (regardless of who the parent company is). Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and as such it only covers notable subjects. Notability is asserted through the use of reliable sources (YouTube is not one). You are asking for advice on articles, including the text of the article. Wrong place. You should work on a subpage and post to Articles for Creation when ready. You should ask these questions at The Teahouse, not here as I am not a reviewer nor do I have the time to be one. Sorry. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages. -- Alexf(talk) 16:42, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

Subject of Kryolan?

One of the prizes for the various season of Face Off (TV series) (for example the most recent Face Off (season 7)) prizes from a Makeup company called Kryolan. I'm considering trying to see whether there is enough information about the company to make a Wikipedia article, but I'd like to know if the article that you speedied was about this company or not and if it is, I'd like it restored to my personal area as a place to start (User:Naraht/Kryolan is fine)Naraht (talk) 15:16, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

It was about a makeup company but not worth restoring. It was a one-sentence article with no links, sources or anything else.
"Kryolan is a german brand of make up. For 66 years Kryolan Professional Make-up is a specialized manufacturer of professional make-up serving theater, film, and television around the globe."
That was it. No other text in it. -- Alexf(talk) 16:58, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
OK, about the Make-up company, but I agree not worth restoring. I can make a better stub than that with google books tied behind my back. :)Naraht (talk) 15:51, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
Probably going to use http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/inside-hunger-games-twilight-makeup-416590 for starters as a good secondary source. Not enough to hang an entire article off of, but good enough for a stub that shouldn't get nuked.Naraht (talk) 15:57, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

Problematic behavior by you

Hello. I have carefully thought about you for several days to insure that my message to you is not rash.

You recently indefinitely blocked me. You did not respond to pleas for help. Later, you said that you had a slow internet connection. You never even apologized to me.

Please review the Wikipedia guideline for vandalism. I have done nothing close.

You did not block because of my user name but even if you did, this was extremely sloppy because it was not the stated reason. Furthermore, I have carefully examined the username policy and find no violation. I do admit that feces is not a pleasant smelling object but the converse, eating poop is good, is clearly bad. My original username did nothing to suggest that.

Looking further to the username policy, the prescribed remedies are nothing that you followed. "Consider leaving well enough alone", "talk to the user" or "request for comment" were not used at all.

As an administrator, you should be familiar and practice Wikipedia policies. Instead, you provoked vandalism by inappropriate blocking. There was not even an after the fact message to me after another administrator cleaned up the mess. Perhaps you should experience sudden and indefinite blocking to learn of the effects of your action?

As a result of your actions, I ask you to relinquish your administrative rights and wait a period of at least 3 months before requesting them back. In that time, you can re-learn the skills of editing Wikipedia as a non-administrator. I see you have not added any content to Wikipedia in recent memory.

I make this request for the good of Wikipedia and for a cooperative Wikipedia community. EatingGlassIsBad (talk) 16:00, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

As mentioned in your page, the user name was unacceptable and needed to be changed. The vandalism label may have been harsh and I apologize. As for the recusal, I disagree. One issue does not warrant it. The please you mentioned were not seen as your page was not in my watchlist. In order to get attention you had to request an unblock, which you finally did. This has the effect of putting a notice admins can see. As per contributing content, not all editors do, but nonetheless I have created over 200 articles, and have copy-edited countless. This is irrelevant to the issue in any case. -- Alexf(talk) 10:58, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

Please re-read what I wrote. An excerpt is here....

Looking further to the username policy, the prescribed remedies are nothing that you followed. "Consider leaving well enough alone", "talk to the user" or "request for comment" were not used at all.

EatingGlassIsBad (talk) 21:00, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

I also looked at the user policy.

Do you propose that "eating poop is good"? I completely disagree. I strongly believe that any encouragement of eating poop is very bad. Are you then inclined to block a name "Eat vegetables as part of a healthy diet"?

Or is your beef about the word "poop". Poop is a very child friendly word. It is not a swear word, like the word "shit!". There is even a wikipedia article about poop. In contrast, the word "fuck" would not be a good user name because it is not only a swear word but even banned from TV.

Still, I voluntarily agreed to change the name. In contrast, you tried to online kill me. I kept pleading but, as you are well aware, most of the thousands of administrators ignore pleas in the unblock board.

Thank you for your attention into this matter.

Teleteria contact attempt

Hey. I've got VRTS ticket # 2014102910017213 from User:Teleteria, whom you blocked as a spamusername in April. After I advised him on how to contact you, he claims he is unable to do so (even email) due to being blocked. I offered to write a note on your talk page in his behalf. If you would kindly drop him a note on his talk page, it would facilitate communication. ~Amatulić (talk) 21:52, 7 November 2014 (UTC)

@Amatulic:. Sorry but I was out for over a week. I see the account is old. They did create an article: Teleteria long ago, where they state they are a company. Maybe it was a little harsh, so I am unblocking due to the time passed since the article was written (note the block dates from 2010). Still I am leaving a note the name is in violation of the username rules and should be changed. Thanks for the HU. -- Alexf(talk) 12:15, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
See, Alexf, you are being overly harsh and that is an extremely mild way of putting it. How many people have you harmed in while you wrongly think you've been doing right (while patting yourself on the back). I do not attack you but merely remind you to seriously think about the wisdom or lack of wisdom in your actions. One reason that I mention it is because there is so much bad in Wikipedia that needs to be fixed. One way is to do it one step at a time....beginning with you helping, not hindering.
:)
Eating Glass Is Bad (talk) 16:01, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
Can I ask you to please stop interceeding in other people's threads here? You are getting a little annoying. This was a user from 2010 which was properly blocked according to policy. If you have an issue with this please go to ANI. -- Alexf(talk) 17:49, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
If you think it is annoying, then you may have the wrong attitude for an administrator. An administrator is suppose to be a janitor and work with a mop, not a thug with a gun. A thug would surely be annoyed if they are questioned but hopefully an admin had the strong desire for Wikipedia improvement and public relations. That is where I have questions about you. You wield the sword and sometimes block against policy. I do not call you a thug because at least you have engaged in this dialogue.
The mop analogy is very important because you have shown that you don't write articles, just wield the block weapon. In that case, you have to be extra cautious about making sure it's a mop properly used and not a sword. Eating Glass Is Bad (talk) 21:12, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, Alexf. I'll notify him via the OTRS thread. I wasn't suggesting unlbocking right away, before he learns how to converse on talk pages, but I'll try to work with him. He also created a promotional autobiography (now deleted via AFD) as well as an article about his company.
Um, Eating Glass Is Bad, it is perfectly reasonable to block a corporate-named account who creates an advertisement masquerading as an article. Those editors are not interested in contributing to an online encyclopedia, they are interested in self-promotion. As such, they are disruptive to the project and need to be blocked until such time that they are educated about Wikipedia and willing to contribute. ~Amatulić (talk) 17:42, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
Sigh. After you unblocked him, my instructions about changing username confused him and he created a new account. No harm though. I have re-blocked the old account, redirected the old account pages to the new one, and moved the talk page history over too, and left some advice on his new talk page. Hope he takes it. ~Amatulić (talk) 01:06, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

The merit of the speedy removed link from "Transitive Closure" page.

Alex.

One month later... I have responded to a message you left on my talk page but did not get an answer. So now I try contacting you via your talk page -- please consider what I have to say:

I am extremely grateful for your concern and like it that there are people like you who keep Wikipedia free from garbage. I realise that the link that I want to add seem to meet criteria for forbidden links. I, however, think that it has merit and should not be treated as forbidden. When compared with the link to the Stony Brook algorithm repository that is carried on this wikipedia page (and was therefore not seen as not appropriate), Apti Algoritmi is in some sense more above board than the Stony Brook link because Skiena sells a textbook that is advertised on his page while my page and visits to my page has absolutely no financial gain for me as the editor. The page is merely a concise repository of implementations of algorithms that solve the transitive closure problem. Thes implementations and concise descriptions of the different algorithms was created for academic purposes. It is to my knowledge the most comprehensive collection of implementations to solve this specific problem. Apti Algorithm adhere to the intention of an encyclopaedia because it is written in a style that is accessible to lay people.

Please consider undoing the removal of this link. --Vpieterse (talk) 11:51, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Sorry but your page was not in my watchlist. The place to discuss this, is the article's talk page, where you can always make your case. You can also ask at the Tea House or at the WikiProject Mathematics. Anyway, I checked again and restored it as you may be correct that it has merit. The issue is that you are linking to your own writings, which is a conflict of interest. You understand why that would pose a problem, I hope. -- Alexf(talk) 12:08, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
Thanks - I do understand why it could easily be seen as self-promotion and am grateful that you took the time to reconsider. --Vpieterse (talk) 12:17, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

deletion of page

I'm not sure I ever had a page (maybe someone did one for me), but when I click on my name http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronjon_Nag on the page where I have been awarded a Mountbatten Medal here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountbatten_Medal it says the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronjon_Nag has been deleted.

Can you simply set it so copyright infringement is removed, sounds like I have done something wrong, when I don't think I have. If you have the page would be great to send it to me.

Then I'll try and submit a page or have a neutral party submit one at some point.

Thanking you in advance...

Best

Ronjon

Gosh, that was deleted over 6 years ago!
Please use Wikipedia:Articles for creation if you're planning to submit a page about yourself. That is really the only venue for an author with a conflict of interest, including authors whom you hire or recruit to do so. ~Amatulić (talk) 01:07, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

OneShift deletion

Hi,

Yesterday I created the OneShift article and you had it deleted it. The reason I created the article is that I consider the OneShift an inspiring success story, a successful company built by a 21 years old girl. This is one of the most inspiring things about Australian entrepreneurs. It had quite a few references from reputable publications (Forbes) and so on. If the page was deleted because it does;t bring value, then my question is, how come SpotJobs still exists? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpotJobs). I looked for similar pages, and SpotJobs is there, having similar information from the same industry. Isn't that favouritism? If there are rules, they should be applied to all. I don't find SpotJobs more inspiring than OneShift.

Please reconsider your action and reinstate the page.

Thank you

You seem to have this wrong. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia which only carries notable companies and other information. It is not a place for advertisement of your products and services. You also have a serious conflict of interest. This is not the place to request an article. Try Articles for Creation instead. If you have any questions you can ask at the Tea House, but please make sure you read and understand the Conflict of Interest Guide before you continue. -- Alexf(talk) 10:58, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Brett Behm

Hi, I am just wondering why you deleted my page on Brett Behm, I was stating the page on him and decided to take a break on it for a little while and just came back and saw it was deleted if you could get back to me that would be great thanksLittlecop81 (talk) 04:19, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Seeing you have created the article three times, and it has been deleted three times, and you were duly notified more than once about it, with a very detailed message explaining the issues about asserting notability, I am surprised you ask. Please read Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#A7. If you need help understanding this, you can always ask at The Teahouse. -- Alexf(talk) 10:19, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Huh?

Hello. Please could I have my page back? It wasn't causing harm!

Anuj Tiwari article

Hi! I was about to create an article about best-selling author Anuj Tiwari, but noticed that you had deleted a previous article about him on the grounds of A7. I was unable to find the deletion discussion and want to be sure I provide enough new information to make a page worth keeping. Since there was no objectionable content in the deleted page, would it be possible to get a copy to build off of? Thanks! Scigirl543 (talk) 19:41, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

@Scigirl543: Article had no sources whatsoever. Usefied at User:Scigirl543/Anuj_Tiwari. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 22:00, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

There are sources available online and offline regarding the article Anuj Tiwari, can you please keep the page Anuj Tiwari and allow us to put links and the proper format of Wikipedia.

Thanks, Author's Desk, India. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.36.255.121 (talk) 09:23, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Then write a properly sourced article if the subject is notable. It is not my responsibility to write it or source it. I have written (and sourced) many articles. You should work on yours. If you are unsure how to do that, pleas ask at the Tea House. As per the original article, if you read above, it has been already recovered after another user's request (see link above). -- Alexf(talk) 11:05, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, It's regarding the Page: Draft:PRAYAG (organization), Could you specify the reasons and also which part of the page was advertising. So that I could correct it in my next edit and submit it. It was written by the organization itself, promoting their services and linking to all their websites and online presence. Are you related to the organization? If so, you should note it explicitly in your user page. Please start a new section for new issues in talk pages. -- Alexf(talk) 12:52, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

RAF Boddington Deletion

I have received the following short note from you Alex; "Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributio..."

My source WAS quoted, it was from own personal experience from working at RAF Boddington a number of times so I have no idea why you have the right to ask me to quote sources when I am the source itself. Where else do you think you are going to get such information about equipment, the Ministry of Defence? I don't think so!

Please be assured I won't be bothering with posting and updating no Wikipedia in the future, it's too much hassle to post and then to have it deleted is just too annoying and frustrating.

David Rose 08 January 2015 Djrose007 (talk) 10:07, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

David. Sorry you disagree but you see, No Original Research is Wikipedia Policy. It is one of the most important tenets. By recounting your own experience, you are telling your own original research. This is an encyclopedia, not a book or a blog. Your experience, laudable as it may be, is not a reliable source, and it is not acceptable. If you still disagree, you could get an impartial view at Wikipedia:No original research/Noticeboard. -- Alexf(talk) 10:35, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Block of User:Ushit99

You blocked User:Ushit99 for a "disruptive or offensive username". I have unblocked the user when he offered to change his username, but I thought you should be aware that Ushit is an Indian given name, like Parikshit and Ishita and probably etymologically related to Dikshit. Unless you really meant to tell someone his given name is offensive, I'd suggest we should tell him there's no need to change that username. Huon (talk) 18:43, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

@Huon: Go ahead. I understand the bit about an Indian given name, but unlike Ishita or Parikshit, this one does not translate particularly well. -- Alexf(talk) 18:47, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Why I added Galactic Force Band...

Ironic. You were deleting https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Galactic_Force_Band&action=edit&redlink=1 while I was writing the justification. FWIW, consider this my whine that it occurred so fast I really had no opportunity to respond. Anyway, I'm open to suggestions on how to expand on Rob Base's use of Space Dust, written by Nicole Bayers, and performed by Galactic Force Band from the obscure, fluffy Spaced Out Disco album. I find the randomness of it notable [what are the odds?]. My rationalization is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Galactic_Force_Band. I had intended to hyperlink Wikipedia entries to the article.

For the record, here's the background on why I wrote the entry: I actually had the 8 track in 1980, threw it out when 8 track tapes went k'plooey, and replaced it with vinyl two decades later while looking for a dance version of the Star Trek Theme. A decade later again, I was ripping my vinyl to MP3 and tripped over the rap song connection on line.

I want to ask about a page you deleted

Hello,

My name is Tony Puryear. I'm asking about the deleted page for Tony Puryear

I am a screenwriter of some small note (the first African-American screenwriter to create a $100 million+ blockbuster, the 1996 film "Eraser") and a graphic novel creator (my book, "Concrete Park", was selected as one of the Best American Comics, 2013). My 2008 national campaign poster for Hillary Clinton is in the Smithsonian Institution's National Portrait Gallery.

There has been, for several years, a wikipedia page under the name Tony Puryear that listed these facts and others, with citations. It has been deleted.

When I checked the deletion log, I saw that the last deletion listed was in 2008, by you, for "patent nonsense".

I found this strange, as I've seen a "Tony Puryear" wikipedia page much more recently than that. It's gone, now, though.

Can you help me get this deleted page restored?

Thank you,

Tony Puryear

The page now redirects to Erika Alexander's page (I assume your wife). If you see the history, you see this was done a while ago because the Puryear article was deemed it did not assert notability. In any case, if you would like to write a page about yourself, that is strongly discouraged. Please read the linked pages in detail to understand why -- Alexf(talk) 21:50, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

Analytics

Hi Alex, I have just noticed that you removed new analytics service that I have added to wikipedia yesterday. I understand now that adding a username named Hitsteps purposely to edit one page is against law, so I have undo your change and added hitsteps back to the list using my own IP address. I hope it is not considered as spam now. Hitsteps is a analytics in business more than one year and there is not any reason not be listed among other web analytics in the list. Please correct me if I am wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.129.144.30 (talk) 16:23, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Hitsteps is not notable until you write an article that shows it is. You should also read about conflicts of interest. -- Alexf(talk) 16:29, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Request to un-delete a set of pages

So a couple days ago, you deleted a set of album pages because earlier that day, someone figured out that the page for the band that made these albums had part of a news article copy/pasted into it. So they deleted the band page and (I assume) tagged all of the album pages for speedy deletion.

Well I've recreated the band's page Margot & the Nuclear So and So's and removed the part that was a copyright violation. I could go through myself and recreate all of the album pages as well, but I'd think that it'd be a lot easier to ask you if you could just reinstate them. Thanks.

Indyanapolis (talk) 08:24, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Let's see how the article fares first. At a quick perusal I see it has some non-reliable sources such as FB and iTunes. Also, there is no guarantee that the albums are notable by themselves enough to warrant an article. Give it some time -- Alexf(talk) 08:33, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Getachew Jigi Demeksa

Hello Alexf. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Getachew Jigi Demeksa, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: "member of the Ethiopia federal parliament" is certainly enough for notability. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 20:56, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Deletion of article Boris Townsend

Alexf,

I'm new to Wikipedia and now realize some of the errors I made in my article. Finding it deleted I've now read a lot more about what the article should and should not contain. I realize that although I had the approval of the author of the text I had copied, I do not have permission from the website on which it was published. Nor did I provide any proof of the approval. Naively I did not keep a copy of what I had written, nor the links that I found to verify what I was trying to include. Is it possible for me to get a copy of what I had written, so that I may try re-writing and eventually resubmit it?

The article I submitted was Boris Townsend which I submitted on 25th January 2015.

Hopefully the next line is the red link you require

Draft:Boris_Townsend

Thanks Username: Kingston451

Kingston451 (talk) 23:44, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

Sorry but I cannot do that. Normally we are happy to return deleted text to you to rework. As the case here is a copyright violation I cannot do that. Copyrighted text had to be removed as soon as was found. I cannot publish it, privately or publicly. We take copyvios very seriously. If the subject is notable and you want to work on an article, please do so. Just be aware of what is and what is not allowed. If you have any questions you can always ask at the Tea House. -- Alexf(talk) 00:13, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
