  • Hello Coolabahapple, the only reference I could find is this link which is already provided in the article.

I believe my Article was notable enough this time

Hello. I believe my Article was notable enough this time however it is deleted without giving me any satisfactory explanation. The procedure i have followed: Make draft, join chat and spend 1 whole day to edit and compose excellent article based on suggestion and edits by experts at the chat, submit draft, draft accepted, draft reviewed and edited by WikiProject_Video_games editor and completely published. Then i ask chat again about isn’t this too much edit? then primefac opens speedy delete then it is deleted without giving me any explanation in matter of minutes. If you check the issue i appreciate ty very much : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MonsterMMORPG . And there were not any discussion it was deleted immediately. One more notice: I checked same genre games articles and majority of them have way more less authority references and even some have 0 references. Thank you very much for your help. Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Elder rights activists a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 17:54, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

And when you get the time then look at the talk page of the article. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 17:56, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

  • Hello Jeraphine Gryphon, yes I know. PLEASE don't change it as the other page name has a prefix of "Draft:" which obviously cannot be removed. I am posting a message to Ormr2014, the person who moved the page. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 17:58, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
You made a cut-and-paste move and that was wrong, do you understand that? Because I don't understand what you're trying to do. The article was previously moved into draftspace because it was not ready for mainspace. You should have participated on the talk page before doing whatever it is that you did. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 18:02, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Hello Jeraphine Gryphon, I must confess that I am not aware about the draftspace. Thanks for letting me know. I am aware about cut and paste and normally would not perform such an action. Trust this explains. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 18:04, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Help

Hello, the archive on my TalkPage does not seem to work properly. Discussions are getting archived but the archived tab does not give out the archived discussions. Can someone help please? Many thanks, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 10:08, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

AKS, the issue was that you started your counter at 11, meaning the archive box (which looks for "Archive 1") wasn't looking for 11. I've moved your archives and edited the bot appropriately, though you'll have to add {{db-userreq}} to archives 11-13 (unless you want your archive box to show a bunch of empty pages). Primefac (talk) 10:37, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

My username

  • Please do not put the form "{{User:Anthony Appleyard|Anthony Appleyard}}" anywhere. User:Anthony Appleyard is my user page's name, and putting it inside double curly brackets results in transcluding all of my user page in as if it was a template. In my user talk page, my name without curly brackets is enough, as I am automatically notified about all edits to my user talk page. To call my attention to another page, use the form {{ping|Anthony Appleyard}}. Thanks. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:33, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Hello @Anthony Appleyard:, It was a genuine typo. Instead of "[[" (which I intended to use), I perhaps used "{{". I was wondering what happened when I left a message on your TalkPage? Thanks for pointing this out and will make sure not to repeat this mistake in the future. Apologies for the trouble. Cheers, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 05:37, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Jigyasa Singh

People are allowed to contest PRODs, so don't restore the PROD tags (as you did on this edit) if you feel the concern stated wasn't fixed. Instead, send the article to Articles for deletion. You may be able to gain consensus for deletion the page then. Repeatedly readding PROD tags after someone contested it is considered disruptive. --TL22 (talk) 16:55, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

  • Hello ToonLucas22, I have no intentions of "repeatedly readding PROD tags and disrupting" anything. There is only ONE edit that I performed on that page and I am not sure if that can be termed as disruptive. PROD notice clearly mentioned "You may remove this message if you improve the article or otherwise object to deletion for any reason". The editor (and the page creator) did not improve the article NOR did he cite any reasons for removal of PROD and hence I placed the tag back and also left a comment that "....no reason cited". I also noticed that someone has nominated the page for AfD and I am sure the matter will be dealt accordingly there. Trust this clarifies and thanks for your time. Help

Hello, I created template Banaras Hindu University. There seems to be a small issue that I am unable to work around and need help. Faculty of Law page moves

I'm afraid I must revert all of your page moves, as I find them controversial. This is a topic that will require discussion at WP:RM. Cheers! bd2412 T 17:03, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

    • It might be useful to have a discussion about how pages regarding faculty divisions should be titled. However, no matter what titling scheme is adopted, these are not ambiguous topics; rather, they are subtopics under a supertopic. I have made "Faculty of Law" into a brief article, containing a list. bd2412 T 19:28, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. VernoWhitney (talk) 22:47, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

  • VernoWhitney; I did not copy+paste anything. Check the page history properly; I merely cleaned it, formatted it and used the same text back. Post this notice to the person's talkpage who added the text and not me. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 06:47, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
Okay, so you copied and pasted material previously in the article which is fine. Almost the entire first page of history was your edits and the edit summary of 'Expanding article' gave me no indication that the material had previously been in the article. Now that I'm looking back to the beginning of the article I do see that the problems date back before your involvement with it, so I'll be looking into that further. My apologies for bothering you. VernoWhitney (talk) 11:58, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
  • VernoWhitney; no sir. You did good. We both acted in good faith of cleaning up the article. My apologies if I was curt. If you permit me, may I restore and then clean-up the copyvio material since a big chunk of important information had to be deleted due to the issue? Please let me know. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 12:07, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
  • There's absolutely no problem with restoring information about those temples, so long as it's not a copy or close paraphrase of the originally copied text, so please clean it up offline and don't even temporarily restore copyvio. Also, I'm betting that the entire original content of the page was copied from somewhere else--I just haven't looked through it yet (I'll get to that later today). VernoWhitney (talk) 13:41, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
  • Hello VernoWhitney; I added the subsections deleted by you but the text is new write-up; mostly adapted from the main article. Trust this will be in line. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 03:48, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Pages created

  • Hello, I noticed that McGill University Faculty of Arts pops up in the list of pages I have created. I am not the original author of the page and merely performed redirect function. Upon checking, I noticed that one user performed "copy & paste" function on a page I had redirected. Since I was originally involved in the redirect, I don't wish to get into an edit war with anyone and hence can someone help in restoring the pages since the entire page history is being lost due to the copy & paste function? Many thanks. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 10:02, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

Photographs of copyrighted art

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text—which means allowing other people to modify it—then you must include on the external site the statement: "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later, and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike".

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the Help Desk. You can also leave a message on my talk page. Brianhe (talk) 16:12, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

  • Brianhe, please be more specific and let me know which copyrighted photograph / art are you talking about? All pictures have been personally taken by me; most using Cannon EOS 550D camera (check EXIF files of the pictures). Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 17:13, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
Sorry about the templated message not quite matching your case, this time it's in my own words. Pictures of copyrighted art infringe on the copyright held by the original artist. I'll follow up with the relevant Wikipedia essay/guideline if I can find it. — Brianhe (talk) 17:35, 15 July 2015 (UTC) The relevant guideline is WP:NFG concerning the gallery at Cafe Mondegar reproducing murals originally painted there Brianhe (talk) 17:48, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
    • Dear Brianhe, the murals are not restricted and are painted at a public place with no restrictions - none whatsoever. It is intended to be photographed and viewed. I personally spoke to the owner of the pub before clicking the pictures. Tens of thousands of people have clicked the murals and the pictures are all over internet. Now how do we correctly fix this on Wikipedia? Since you are an expert in this field; I am seeking your help. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 04:11, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Freedom of panorama holds in India, I think, but this is not a public place so that isn't the solution. I think the process is that the copyright holder (usually the artist, not the owner of the establishment) would send permission to Wikimedia via the OTRS system. Instructions are here: Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Brianhe (talk) 04:19, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Well, Barring a séance, assignee or heirs I suppose. Brianhe (talk) 04:25, 16 July 2015 (UTC) By the way, I'm not an expert on copyrights so you might want to ask further at WP:IMAGEHELP. — Brianhe (talk) 04:26, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Dear Brianhe, Neither do I have a personal interest nor the time to run around looking for heirs in a city of 20 million people. Congratulations on splitting hair and creating an issue out of a totally non-controversial matter. Just out of interest, I happened to read public places and café is termed as semi-public. Over to you now; I have nothing more to say. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 04:33, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
That's an unfortunate position to take. "Everybody's doing it" is not the basis for good moral or legal decision making. Wikipedia requires us to respect intellectual property rights even if it is inconvenient, and even if nobody outside the project is pressing you to do so at this moment. — Brianhe (talk) 06:46, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Dear Brianhe, Just to make it clear, I never used that term "Everybody's doing it". I am only concerned about myself and that I should not breach any IP issues. What others do is their "prerogative" and I have no locus standi on that. In the matter we are discussing, I don't really see a connection between what the guidelines are and the action you took; especially by your own admission that you are "...not an expert on copyrights" (sic). All I appeal is, if this is a mistaken identification, the matter be rested in favor of the article in original shape and form OR atlest it is debated by independent editors before getting deleted. I have no personal interest, nothing new to know, visited the café and have seen the murals hundreds of time, have pictures with me - it is the Wikipedia community which will be at a loss (should the uploads be apt) and not me personally. As I said, I don't wish to interfere in this matter any further, I leave it in your good hands and request you to take this to it's logical conclusion. Cheers, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 08:15, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Ditto for photographs of copyrighted text as you added to Durga Mandir, Varanasi. Brianhe (talk) 20:35, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Dear Brianhe, you gotta be kidding me. That text for Durga Mandir, Varanasi is on a ROAD outside the temple and not even done as an artwork. How can you use the term "probable" and delete the picture when you yourself are not sure. Let it go though deletion voting process and then based on outcome let it be decided. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 05:49, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
It's automatically copyrighted unless it's quite old. Burden of proof in this case lies on the person claiming text does NOT fall under copyright. Do you understand why this is important? Did you read the copyright notice above? — Brianhe (talk) 06:32, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Dear Brianhe, it is not even a mural and is carving on stone outside the temple, on the main road. In any case, since you guys are SME, best is you take a call. I reverted your change in the article which you may want to revert again - I have no issues. Cheers, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 06:59, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Hey Brianhe, can you do me a favor and check these uploads when you have some time? I just want to ensure that none of the other pictures uploaded by me violate any guidelines. If you find anything objectionable then please feel free to nominate them for deletion and also let me know on my TalkPage (here). Many thanks for your time. Droom_Technology

Hi AKS.9955

Yesterday i created an article for Droom_Technology and it was deleted after 3-4 hours. I also included source of the content with some news media links which is trending in media. One thing that i don't know how to do is "cite references" .I put the text and link with the proper link it doesn't look like other page cite references. After opening the created page it's saying (Multiple reasons: speedy deletion criteria A7, G11).

Can you please help me out to get back the article or should i write again on the same topic? and also guide me for proper cite references.

  • Hello Sujit.iitr, thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. You need to read WP:ORG before attempting to create an article about a company. Everything you need to know is mentioned therein. You also may want to make a note of WP:NOBLE. Thanks, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 05:54, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

The article I am trying to create and which is facing tremendous protest from you is indeed about an entertainer whom you might not know but she is a prominent figure in Bengali film industry. Hope you open up your mind soon! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sayakb92 (talkcontribs) 17:08, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

  • Sayakb92, the page you created was twice turned down by me and put up for deletion. You cannot create a page for anyone just because you feel that the person is a prominent figure. You need to get yourself updated on the guidelines before you attempt to create an article. Should you don't comply, you will be blocked from editing. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 19:54, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
