Template-protected edit request on 1 September 2020 edit

Hello, I am an experienced editor, regularly working with templates. I need access to clean and modify the template. I need to add a "This page has been marked as needing a photograph" notice and related category pages. ~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 08:26, 1 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

  Not done: please make your requested changes to the template's sandbox first; see WP:TESTCASES. * Pppery * it has begun... 17:30, 1 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Pppery:I have extensive template experience both here and on my employer's Wikimedia-based intranet. Rest assured that I will not mess up the template. I have been editing this and other template for years. Please let me know the result of your deliberation.~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 06:00, 2 September 2020 (UTC) NB: also I am probably the most active WP:LEB member (check the page stats. I don't know if that accounts for anything but I have rewritten the entire UI and the body of WikiProject. ~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 06:05, 2 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
If you're asking for the ability to edit this template yourself, the correct place for that is Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Template editor. * Pppery * it has begun... 13:25, 2 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Pppery: I edited the sandbox as requested. The to-do list that I removed revolves around a deprecated bot-generated list. The bot itself is also defunct. I added a parameter to flag articles that need pics. Thanks. ~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 13:48, 2 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
What is the purpose of this line
 |NOTE_1_FORMAT     = style=
I can't work out what it is intended to do. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 10:33, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
This is a formatting parameter in case one wants to format the background of the image (camera icons in this case). Feel free to remove it. ~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 14:33, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
If you use style= you also need to follow it with a valid CSS declaration block, enclosed in quotes. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 17:10, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Redrose64: yes yes I'm aware it's all explained on Template:WPBannerMeta#Alerts_and_notes. ~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 06:15, 4 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
  Question: Is the current /sandbox code ready to go, does it work, and are there any outstanding issues/questions/concerns about the change? There's no straight answer to any of those questions in the discussion above. Primefac (talk) 23:22, 6 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Primefac: who is supposed to answer your question? ~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 03:42, 11 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
You I think. Please confirm if all required changes have been made to the sandbox. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:07, 11 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, though thoughts from Redrose64 wouldn't hurt since they had concerns. Primefac (talk) 12:48, 11 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

The changes will remove FM-, Redirect- and Book-classes. Is this intentional? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:18, 11 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi @MSGJ: I missed this parameter, sorry. I think we're ready to go. ~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 20:19, 11 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
  Done — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:16, 13 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps inevitably, there was a mistake - MSGJ, can you change the photo category to Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Lebanon, at the moment it is the WP:REDNOT cat "of" Lebanon. TIA Le Deluge (talk) 14:14, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yep   Done — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:15, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

RfC on template modification request edit

This is to get some attention to a proposal for Template:WikiProject Lebanon revision. In its current state the template is attached to a to-do list that was populated by a bot that's now out of service. I have added a new wikiproject logo after the wikiproject page overhaul. I have also added a parameter to tag articles with missing images. Thank you. ~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 19:10, 7 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Elie plus: Is this about the thread immediately above? If so, this is improper use of the RfC process. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:33, 7 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Redrose64: how so? ~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 10:12, 9 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Because we don't use RfCs to draw attention to an ongoing discussion elsewhere. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:18, 9 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Oh! Well I thought it applies since this is technical template discussion and there's an RFC category specifically for that. Is there any progress because the red link is unsightly. ~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 05:33, 10 September 2020 (UTC) I cancelled the RFC. ~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 05:39, 10 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Is Someone stalling on purpose here? @Redrose64:~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 21:40, 10 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 17 October 2023 edit

Please replace current Wikiproject Lebanon image with country flag (file:Flag of Lebanon.svg) el.ziade (talkallam) 22:05, 17 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Elias Ziade: why? Elli (talk | contribs) 02:18, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Because it’s outdated el.ziade (talkallam) 04:55, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
  Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit template-protected}} template. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:33, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
To editors el.ziade, Elli and Jonesey95: looks like the project image is taken from the flag, and the flag is shown in the Lebanon portal box to the right. So I agree that it would not be an improvement to replace the project image with the flag. It seems that a reliable source would be needed to confirm that the project image is indeed outdated. Then I might change my mind. Does anyone else think the project image is outdated? P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 18:51, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Paine Ellsworth I made most of the templates and images for this wikiproject. I have checked most country wikiproject templates and they all use flags now. I think this has become common practice after the wikiproject templates became collapsible within the WikiProject banner shell template (look at this example). Flags look better in the collapsed templates, unlike the current wikiproject Lebanon logo (which I made) which looks compressed and distorted (Example). As a member of WP Lebanon who is responsible for most of the edits on the stagnant wikiproject I request full access to edit this template, if you cannot grant me this please consider my proposal to switch the logo to the country flag as requested above. el.ziade (talkallam) 11:33, 19 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
To editors el.ziade, Elli and Jonesey95: okay, I added the flag to the sandbox and tested it in preview on the two talk pages editor el.ziade suggested. Have to admit that the flag does give consistency to the grouping of country project banners. You've convinced me, el.ziade, that the flag is a definite improvement over the present image. If this constitutes a WP consensus, then you have it, at least so far. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 16:18, 19 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Paine Ellsworth @Jonesey95 @Elli any updates? el.ziade (talkallam) 21:40, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Elias Ziade: As there doesn't appear to be opposition, I've gone ahead and implemented this. Elli (talk | contribs) 21:43, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot @Elli. el.ziade (talkallam) 21:44, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
