DYK review edit

I've come here because of a DYK review. Rather than posting the details there, I thought I'd put them onto the talk page:

  • The lead is too long. Have a look at the style guide.
  • Ancient history - the second paragraph is unsourced (one of the DYK requirements is that there's at least one source for each paragraph).
  • "On 1 February 1960, Österreichische Post issued a definitive stamp with a value of 3.40 Schillings on a postage stamp" - that sentence appears incomplete, and it constitutes another unsourced paragraph.

So all in all, these are only minor issues that shouldn't be hard to fix. There's some serious effort gone into this - well done! Schwede66 07:07, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks for the above observations. I have addressed all issues now.
  • The lead section is reduced by shifting some text to modern history.
    • Second paragrapgh of ancient history is from the evaluation report of the UNESCO pdf reference. The reference has been inserted now.
    • The sentence related to the definitive stamp was taken from the last line of the article on Steiner Tor. Since specifc reference could not be found, the text related to another stamp of the Venus von Willendorf stamp released on August 7, 1908 for 3.75 Euro under this reference Austria / österreich Post, which also pertains to the Wachau valley has been added in the relevant section. This stamp was released to mark the 100 year celebration since finding [Venus] one of the most famous examples of prehistoric art, found in Willendorf / Wachau in Lower Austria. I hope it meets your observations now. You may consider removing the tag now. Thanks.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 15:36, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. The details on Wachovia are contained in the lead only, and that should also be shifted into the body of the text. There isn't a logical home for this in the article as yet, otherwise I would have done it myself. If we'd be dealing with a biography, one would put this into a section called 'commemoration', but I'm not sure what to call this for a geographic feature. When done, I suggest you go ahead with removing the tag, and please leave a note to that effect with the DYK nomination. Schwede66 17:10, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I moved the para regarding North Carolina into a new section called "Foreign influence", but that header name can be changed if someone has a better alt. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:50, 16 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
