Dashboard edit

Something that's not mentioned here is the dashboard. I'm not sure how common this was but I once rented a Yaris and it had no dashboard. All the instruments were placed in a center mounted console. I assume this was done so that the steering wheel could more easily be installed on either the left or right side. Can anyone confirm?

Yes this was for RH or LH steering. I think it sucked!97.115.227.9 (talk) 23:22, 14 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Question edit

There's a trim level called I'll? As in the contraction of "I will"?

The revision as of 19:52, 4 December 2008, user Regushee added various pictures of the Yaris. All of them were tagged as the "RS" trim level, except one in the middle was called the "I'll" trim level. i assume it was a typo.

i'll just change it from "I'll" to "RS" trim level.

Engines??? Info??? None. edit

No engine info, no wheelbase info, no sidebar info, no background, no history, no anything. Someone should either add something useful to this article or just put it out of it's misery and delete it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.184.255.110 (talk) 07:31, 21 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Added engine info and generally updated a pathetic article.--71.162.161.175 (talk) 15:48, 9 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Added engine text, with ref. You can edit it, but please to not delete in. Someone has been deleting text from this page, with no feedback here. Telecine Guy 22:47, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

:Probably the worst car article I've seen on wikipedia. edit

What's with the all capitals rant from GM's pr division? This is a great car, it has won awards all over the world. Why is the article dominated by this crap? 109.76.66.129 (talk) 02:06, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

It Sucks. Underpowered uncomfortable, cant see the dashboard. Worth $7,000 tops. 97.115.227.9 (talk) 23:24, 14 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Merging edit

The Platz, Vitz, and Yaris should all be merged into one article. San someone tell me how to do this? Wikimann1234 (talk) 00:55, 19 October 20119 (UTC)

It would need to be discussed, most preferably at Talk:Toyota Vitz as it is the largest/most prominent of the three pages. OSX (talkcontributions) 05:53, 19 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

4 door current models edit

I've added a note that 4 door models are available. the note has a reference/ the reference has pictures. The reference is to a toyota site

somebody reverted the change. No explanation.

If you don't like the format, edit the format to make it look nice.

VVT-i edit

Should it be noted that they use VVT-i? Telecine Guy 00:52, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

Added engine text, VVT-i, with ref. You can edit it, but please to not delete in. Someone has been deleting text from this page, with no feedback here. Telecine Guy 22:48, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
Hi, this page is designed to point readers to the actual articles. Any detailed content should go to the Vitz, Belta, Platz pages. OSX (talkcontributions) 00:44, 3 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
OK, so info on the the US market's "Yaris" cannot be on wikipedia.
Text here for us US drivers:
Yaris uses a 1.5L VVT-i in-line inline-four engine DOHC with variable valve timing and four valves per cylinder. Engine uses a multi-point fuel injection. The 1.5L engine has a power (SAE) rating of 106 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 103 ft lb of torque @ 4,200 rpm. [1][2]

No it can go at Toyota Vitz and/or Toyota Belta/Platz like every other country. These are the original Japanese home market names for the various Yaris-badge cars in the western world. OSX (talkcontributions) 04:10, 10 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Image edit

Per WP:CARPIX the image should: "Infobox pictures shall depict the front ¾ view from the height of an ordinary person."

With that in mind which image is better? See them in use:
Personally think the silver satisfises all of WP:CARPIX whereas the white one does not. @OSX: EoRdE6(Come Talk to Me!) 00:31, 20 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Mexican Yaris R edit

I'm tagging the discussion of the Mexican Yaris R model with failed verification tags for the following reasons.

  • The Stephen Elmer article on AutoGuide.com does not discuss where the Yaris R is produced, nor does it state that the Yaris R is identical to the Scion iA.
  • Although my Spanish is a little rusty, the Héctor Mañón article on autocosmos.com does not appear to discuss the Belta and Vios sedans marketed in Mexico under the Yaris nameplate, nor how their existence explains Toyota's decision to badge the Mazda/Scion as the Yaris R.

Ironically, the Mañón article does state that the iA and Yaris R are identical, so I'm replacing the Elmer reference in this particular case. Can anyone verify the other information? Carguychris (talk) 15:45, 30 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

I've found published sources stating the production location and confirming that the Yaris R and iA are identical, and I've edited the article accordingly; however, I'm still at a loss regarding the Belta/Vios connection. Carguychris (talk) 16:52, 30 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Europe edit

This article ignores Europe where the Yaris is a top seller and some were made in France and styled in France. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.5.215.145 (talk) 16:18, 24 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

If you have reference to support your claim then please feel free to edit the article appropriately. If you're not sure about how to add it then try anyway and we will help you.  Stepho  talk  23:12, 24 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

1.0L engine for the XP150 hatchback edit

At least in Zambia, the local Toyota official site lists the availability of a 1.0L engine, which seems to be the same one fitted to the Aygo in South Africa. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 191.32.124.187 (talk) 03:23, 3 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

http://www.toyotazambia.co.zm/models/yaris/ confirms that the Yaris A1 and BC grades have a 1.0 VVT-i 84 hp, 65 kW engine.  Stepho  talk  20:22, 3 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

New article for GR Yaris edit

It's different enough from the standard 4th gen Yaris that it could have its own article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sagquattro2009 (talkcontribs) 00:27, 9 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

They are still obviously part of the same model range. The GR is a 3-door and the rest of the range is 5-door but the silhouettes are the same. The engines are different but it is common to have multiple engines within a model range. Likewise for the sports suspension and trim. It's easy to find and read about where it is. I don't see any benefit to splitting. Also, small articles tend to get deleted. Far better to just leave it here.  Stepho  talk  01:37, 9 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wrong Picture edit

The first photo in the article is of a red Honda Jazz/Fit, not a Toyota Yaris. 2A02:C7C:B22D:7900:1436:D994:8533:E813 (talk) 00:54, 4 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
