The text was added here in this edit from 23 December 2008. At the bottom of the Buffalo Sports page it says "The biographies contained on this website were written at the time of the honoree's induction into the Hall of Fame", which was 2003. -- John of Reading (talk) 09:12, 6 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 17 December 2023 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: First title moved but second not moved. I'm going to move first title to suggested title suggested by the nominator and other participants but second article have no need to because participants support to move first title not second. – Has the tennis player become the primary topic here? He overwhelmingly wins by pageviews (42x more since 2020) and dominates Google Search results. Meanwhile, the boxer's featherweight championship is not an automatic long-term-significance-giver. • Support at the least there is no primary topic. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:45, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Support first, Oppose second and create disambiguation page. Doesn't appear to be a primary topic by long-term significance. It's blatantly obvious that an active sportsman is going to have many more internet hits than a sportsman who retired in 1935, but the boxer was a world champion. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:18, 19 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Support Tommy PaulTommy Paul (boxer) and oppose Tommy Paul (tennis)Tommy Paul per Crouch, Swale and Necrothesp. Tommy Paul should redirect to the Thomas Paul disambiguation page alongside Tom Paul. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 07:41, 26 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Support as primary topic. The difference in page views is overwhelming. It has also persisted for years, as far back as the page views data goes: [1] (see logarithmic scale). There is no comparably large difference in long-term significance. Both topics are largely sourced to contemporaneous news reports. As Hameltion suggests, "substantially greater enduring notability" doesn't inherently follow from any particular accomplishment. Adumbrativus (talk) 07:29, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
