More Games of the Year edit

He has created 5 GotY awarded games, so why doesn't it include Morrowind? Piplup123 (talk) 22:53, 21 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Possible problem when semi-protection is removed edit

A tumblr post made many months ago is circulating like crazy today. Not sure what the deal with this is but probably want to be aware that a bunch of people intend to come vandalize the page. 2606:A000:8CC4:7300:C52C:1914:66B2:11B7 (talk) 16:08, 24 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Nothing new really, we're aware. -- ferret (talk) 16:19, 24 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi Matt. This is nothing compared the war on elephants. We've got it covered. Axem Titanium (talk) 01:41, 28 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation edit

Given that Howard only provided design for four games, two of which only minorly, the disambiguation "video game designer" is not really fitting. It could possibly be "creative director", "producer" or just "executive". Any better suggestions? Lordtobi () 06:35, 20 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Birthday edit

So is this guy born in 1970 or 1971? We should be able to figure out which year. Stapmoshun (talk) 01:39, 27 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Howard is very closed regarding his age, he mentioned once how old he is and that is what we can currently go off. Lordtobi () 05:28, 27 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

As Stapmoshun says, this is very weak. Better to have nothing that to say "He may have been born in one of these two years" in the introduction. Will remove it. Colinmcdermott (talk) 00:10, 15 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Why does Google list his birthday as April 25, 1971? Not sure where that info is coming from, especially since IMDb gives it as October 6, 1970. Kronos o (talk) 11:16, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

We can't really answer that. We aren't Google. -- ferret (talk) 12:07, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
It's coming from Wikipedia. This article used have that as his birth date but it was unsourced and removed. Google parses and presents information from Wikipedia articles in search results because they are usually the top search result. In this case it is still presenting data it parsed from an old revision. --The1337gamer (talk) 12:27, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Seems odd that it would pull from a much older version. Is it pulling from Wikidata maybe? There's a date there that's pulling from the Azerbaijani Wikipedia, which uses a source that does not mention the birthdate. Kuru (talk) 12:50, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
I sometimes remove unsourced birth dates from Wikidata, but it's a losing battle. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 03:11, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
I believe the current version (with estimated years) should remain in place. The information is far too important to be left out of the lede, besides, it's already included in the infobox. Openlydialectic (talk) 08:17, 4 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Birthplace edit

Earler this year I removed the claim that Howard was born in Lower Macungie Township, Pennsylvania because it was unsourced. I tracked the claim back to January 2009, where it was apparently taken from this source. The original is dead and this is the only copy I could find. It also talks about his brother, Jeff. However, I'm not familiar with "Top Gold News"; is it reliable? Lordtobi () 07:10, 29 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Just seems to be a dead blog reprinting copied news articles. However, the original article is from The Morning Call, which appears to be reliable and was written by a professional journalist. Here's a link to the original. Kuru (talk) 11:39, 29 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
This is perfect, thanks a bunch. Lordtobi () 12:09, 29 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Meme Category edit

I think Todd Howard should have the Internet memes category. I added it and it was removed because he's a real person but many real people have the category so I don't see the issue. Promestein (talk) 06:50, 9 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

From WP:CATV: "It should be clear from verifiable information in the article why it was placed in each of its categories." This article does not discuss anything about Howard being a meme. If it did, then the category would be appropriate. As it currently stands, there is nothing in the article or any of its linked sources that would indicate that Howard is a meme. — Katie <3 (talk) 20:15, 19 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

todd howard's birthday is 25th april 1971 2A00:23C7:641A:F501:F1A1:C3AC:AAC9:87DF (talk) 13:28, 27 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

It is not. 25 April is the meme date of the article unlocking and being massively vandalized. The sources we have attest that he was born in 1970. IceWelder [] 13:37, 27 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protected edit request on 30 June 2021 edit

Todd Howard has an autobiography that says he was born April 25, 1971. This autobiography was written in his own words and can be sited by a simple Google Search. On Wikipedia it mentions an average age of 50-51. And mentions he was born in 1970, not 1971. I would like to request a more accurate update. Thank you for taking the time to consider. Have a lovely evening :) 72.203.240.115 (talk) 10:42, 30 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Howard was involved in some way.

He says that the game had just been released when he joined the company, which means that he was not involved. Echoed here. The game was released in 1993, he joined in 1994. IceWelder [] 09:20, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Chess club controversy edit

Todd Howard have claimed many times that he were in the chess club. However there is no evidence to back up this claim, not even his high school yearbook. Should we add a section exploring this controversy? 2A02:2121:10C:C49B:957A:AA89:753F:3344 (talk) 21:17, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Design credit edit

Hi,

During an interview with WIRED, he said that he not only was the producer but also the level designer, sound effects guy, and even programming some. I think we should change it to design rather than additional design as he's done more than additional design 203.111.184.25 (talk) 09:34, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Well, first you'd have to tell us what you want changed. I can't figure out what credit you're talking about. Did you mean Daggerfall? Also, you'd have to link the source that you're talking about. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 03:59, 21 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Todd howard is 53 edit

He did an interview on kindafunnygames yesterday where he said he's 53 years old, no idea if this is of help now but maybe something to look back to if the age ever gets narrowed down more. Hope this helps! LemonLime1000 (talk) 02:43, 1 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

So, in summary, he was
  • 35 on 2006-01-01 [4]
  • 38 on 2008-10-28 [5]
  • 53 on 2024-04-29 [6]
which would put his birthday between April 30 and October 28, 1970. It gives some weight to the October 6, 1970, birthday reported by IMDb, albeit unreliable. Pete Hines hinted at the same date in this tweet, the Bethesda account a day later. There also apparently was this blog post, but no archives exist. Oh well. I find it funny how he revealed his brother's birth date in an interview, but not his own. IceWelder [] 09:30, 1 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
