Fair use rationale for Image:Logo pokemon.JPG edit

Image:Logo pokemon.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

edit

Replace it with The Pokémon Company's logo. The current one is from the international branch. 77.54.108.165 (talk) 16:07, 31 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Retail Sales edit

I would like to propose that the section on Retail Sales be moved to the main Pokemon page, since they clearly reflect revenue related to the Pokemon franchise as opposed to the company itself. But first, that section needs to be cleaned up. I recommend having a column for sales revenues attributable to the U.S. and other parts outside Asia, and another column for revenues within Japan and other parts outside. I also suggest for now that the section on inflation numbers be removed.

Bear in mind that these numbers are only approximate for several reasons, and may be subject to change. For one thing, they are usually rounded to the nearest hundred million. Moreover, it is likely that numbers out of Japan and Asia in general are based on Japanese Yen currency, and exchange rates are always subject to change. I recommend we go with modern day year-end exchange rates as opposed to historical exchange rates, an that they are updated every year. For Example, right now we would use the exchange rate from December 31, 2017, which was 112.685 Yen to USD. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CrystalSnail216 (talkcontribs) 13:33, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

The figures for America and outside Asia are credited under Pokemon Company USA and Pokemon Company International, respectively, so those numbers are relevant to this page. While it might sound like a good idea to have separate columns for Asia and outside Asia, I don't think it's necessary. There is already a column which specifies which region the sales number is for. This format also allows the table to be more specific, since it doesn't make sense to lump in Japan with the rest of Asia or America with the rest of outside-Asia if the numbers are specific to those regions, and the format allows you to give worldwide figures for sources that don't give a regional breakdown. Also, not sure if you read the sources, but License Global does not state their numbers for Pokemon Company USA/International are approximate, so I really don't see any point mentioning approximation when the sources don't say that. As for the Japanese yen figures, they should be converted according to historical exchange rates (which Template: To USD covers from 2011 to 2017), not current exchange rates. It doesn't make any sense to convert numbers from back in 2012 according to current 2017 exchange rates. I really don't think your changes are necessary for the most part, so I am reverting them. However, I agree that the inflation column may not be necessary, so we could keep that change from your edits. Maestro2016 (talk) 01:29, 15 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Better picture? edit

There has to be a better picture for the Pokemon Company other than a pixelated view of the entrance, right? ChunyangD (talk) 07:02, 15 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
