Best live?

edit

It's probably worth mentioning the "Queen on Fire at the Milton Keynes Bowl" version as perhaps the best live version. Martin Packer 20:22, 18 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

No it's not worth mentioning, because that's extremely subjective. Perhaps someone finds another performance superior to the performance at the MK Bowl. I myself prefer the Montreal performance from 1981.205.172.134.23 (talk) 19:30, 17 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ella...?

edit

Shouldn't we put in something about Ella Enchanted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.191.10.21 (talkcontribs) 01:17, 20 April 2007‎

Cover

edit

I seem to recall a picture sleeve with a cartoon of the band on for this single. Anyone have a copy that can be used instead of the ADATR cover the article currently sports? Martin Packer (talk) 12:19, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

John Deacon?

edit

It says that John Deacon sang backing vocals, but I Googled it and apparently he never sang on a record. Find me somebody to love who knows the answer to this question! I have put up a similar notice on the Discussion page of 'You're my best friend', where the same thing was printed. TopGearFreak (talk) 16:05, 24 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agreed with TopGearFreak. Although Deacon sang live it wasn't on the record despite him miming in the video. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.55.138.65 (talk) 17:27, 23 April 2009 (UTC) Maybe Deacons Backing vocals should be left out the crediting too then? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.161.233.57 (talk) 20:17, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Covers

edit

Because of my rather intense dislike of him, I will not find out for myself if this is true, but did Justin Bieber cover this song as well? 24.189.90.68 (talk) 07:46, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Scratch that, I looked at Bieber's album, and it is not a cover of this song, it just shares the same title. Thank God. 24.189.90.68 (talk) 07:49, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

That would have been a catastrophe. TheStig 09:14, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

More of the covers should probably referenced. - "Roaldsstadir" — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roaldsstadir (talkcontribs) 17:07, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Title

edit

Frankly, this is the most well known song with this title, sadly in contention with Bieber's. Shouldn't this article become "Somebody to Love"? We could make the Disambiguation page "Somebody to Love (disambiguation)". The Doomsday Machine! (Blastoff!) 19:58, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

You forget that Jefferson Airplane also has a well-known song called Somebody to Love. And Somebody to Love (disambiguation) does exist, since lesser known artists also have songs with the same title. Everything's fine the way they are. 24.189.87.160 (talk) 05:57, 1 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Religious meaning of the song

edit

'Written by Mercury at the piano, "Somebody to Love" is a soul-searching piece that questions God's role in a life without love.'

'The lyrics, especially combined with the gospel influence, create a song about faith, desperation and soul-searching; the singer questions both the lack of love experienced in his life, and the role and existence of God.'

I'm a bit skeptical of this. To me the song appears to be clearly about the yearning for human affection, and not at all related to God. Can these remarks be backed up by something better than a critic's view? FilipeS (talk) 12:40, 6 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I would agree that some "hard evidence" would be a good idea, however I can see where the critics are relating the soulful gospel choir sound and lyrics to God. I looked but haven't found anything concrete yet. --Kez03 (talk) 03:02, 10 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Jordan Smith

What about the version Jordan Smith did? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:304:b1b6:4960:a4e7:8eb1:d91:124f (talkcontribs) 08:52, 31 January 2016

edit

there is a huge amount of repeated text in the first two sections. Needs to be rationalised. 27.33.151.42 (talk) 13:46, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
