POV

This article tends to have a lot of the POV problems that characterize other Pomerania related articles. In particular see this comments on my talk page [1]. Poland "occasionally" "subdues" parts of Pomerania but Germans always "successfully" "incorporate" it or "augment" their territory. This is POV language plain and simple. There are couple other passages that are wacky. However, given that this article is shorter than more specific and detailed articles, here at least the POV problems should be easier to fix.Volunteer Marek (talk) 17:00, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Poles, Germans and Kashubians...

Since my edit has been removed by Volunteer Marek, I'm posting here further explanation. I did remove the following sentence - "It is inhabited primarily by Poles, Germans and Kashubians.". As of why - someone has put two different things into one bag. I mean nation and ethnic group. Poles, Germans, Americans, Russians - these are nations and within these nations there may be ethnic groups like Kashubians. That's why the mentioned sentence is illogical. One could as well say that "It is inhabited primarily by Poles, Germans, heterosexuals and catholics". It is the same false logic. The other problem with this sentence is the use of word "primarily", like there were some other nations involved. If we speak of nationality or citizenship, Pomerania (as mentioned in the article) is devided between Germany and Poland (only) and as such it is inhabited by Poles and Germans. That's why this sentence becomes unnecessary after correction. If it's devided between Poland and Germany, it's obvious it's inhabited by Poles and Germans. This sentence looked to me as POV from start. Someone has distinguished Kashubians as a nation, like they were not Poles, for his own reasons. It is totally misleading. In the 2002 census in Poland only 5062 people declared thier nationality as Kashubian. So most of Kashubians recognize themselves as Poles and that's a fact, easily verifiable fact. Let's base on facts, not on someone's subjective wishes. --xoCTM (talk) 16:18, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

I'd like to extend this article systematically. First I created a Culture subsection. I'd like to see important events (exhibitions, festivals, plays etc.) added. Which one should definitely be included?

Culture

Please add events here. Please add notable movies/TV series from or playing in Pomerania here. Please add literature works of Pomerania here (novels etc.).

Second I'd love to have a transport section in this article.

Transport

Add international and regional airports here (German and Polish). Add important railway lines and stations here. Add important ports/harbours and ferry lines here. Add important roads here.

Education

Add all Universities and important institutes and facilities here.

Economy

Add the biggest industry and service sectors here. Perhaps also the most important companies and a section on tourism.

Names

Re: [2], with the confusing edit summary: It's done throughout the article. Nothing selective here, please stop reverting.

What is done throughout the article? This is the only place where these names appear in the article. The selectivity involves putting in German names for Polish cities. This is the English Wikipedia not the German one. And this isn't a historical article. I note you've also been busy removing Polish or Polabian names from other cities' articles [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9], [10] or even, or especially [11] with the edit summary, quote "IT'S A <<<<GERMAN<<<<< TOWN, GODDAMMIT!". It's pretty obvious that there's a POV agenda involved here. Please stop it with the irredentist name spamming and don't accuse others of reverting when you've been edit-warring on this issue across dozens of articles. Volunteer Marek  21:50, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

You seem to fail to acknowledge the difference. While the aforementioned German towns never used to be Polish in the sense of belonging to this nationality and these names are hardly ever used in Polish, German or English; all these nowadays Polish cities were German for most of their history and are referred to by their German names just as well as their Polish ones by many English language sources. Could someone explain this reference better or delete it: Pomerania still lives in the country of Brazil in a colony where the language is still spoken. The arrival of Pomerania immigrants with Germans and Italians helped form the state of the Holy Spirit since the early 1930s.,[43] from Gustavo Barreto. Their importance and respect are one of the cultural signatures of the area.

Another name clarification - Pomesania

This concerns the words just under the title. It currently reads, "Not to be confused with Pomerelia." But maybe there is more confusion.

At one time, there was a Bishopric of Pomesania. I stumbled across it while idly browsing elsewhere. Incorrectly, I thought I had found a typo for Pomerania. Should we add Pomesania, so as to read "Not to be confused with Pomerelia or Pomesania"? Or is that too many "Not to be confused with" terms? Oaklandguy (talk) 00:23, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
