Harvard? edit

When translating from the French Wikipedia, I left out a sentence about Harvard because I couldn't find any support for it in other biogs - the St. Andrews one or this or various google searches. The French WP bio says approx, "He was a professor at Harvard University where he had the opportunity to teach Marston Morse. They became friends through their shared love of mathematics."--HJMG 19:36, 31 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Birkhoff supervised Morse's dissertation at Harvard around the time of WW1. Appell was working with the Secours national and later with the League of Nations in Geneva. --HJMG 08:15, 1 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Nothing about Harvard related to Appell is mentioned in the Dictionary of Scientific Biography, listed in further reading, which states that he was a professor at the Sorbonne, University of Paris, and Secours National. -- phoebe (brassratgirl) /(talk) 01:22, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
