Business model edit

how do they make money? the unit costs can't cover all of their fees.

startup funding atm. --ben_b (talk) 09:53, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not really. The combination of cell phones plus peering calls eliminating PSTN termination costs has made this business proposition very affordable. Ooma also has more than 25% of subs paying for premium services in addition to the actual box revenue. -- Rbuchanan (talk) 03:32, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ooma Telo edit

The Telo section is almost completely ripped off word for word from the engadget article. I rewrote it a little bit, but someone should probably rewrite the whole thing. Deputydog23 (talk) 01:29, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

In addition, the "next generation" talk reads like a press release, rather than a NPOV. Furthermore the "next" generation and "will" wording should probably be rewritten to the present or past tense. --Stannius (talk) 00:36, 6 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Revamped website edit

On October 01, 2009, Ooma has launched a completely redesigned website with new video clips and other visual enhancements. Pricing, terms and conditions for new customers also have changed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.246.96.174 (talk) 18:40, 2 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ooma vs. ooma edit

The company's correct, legal name is "Ooma", not "ooma". Only the logo is rendered in all-lowercase. —QuicksilverT @ 23:12, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Executives leaving edit

What's going on?? First Rich Buchanan leaves, then Andrew Galligan disappears, and THEN, Tami Bhaumik disappears! Ajw522 (talk) 05:56, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Canada edit

There should be some reference to the fact that Ooma is now available in Canada, and includes calling anywhere in Canada except The Yukon, NWT and Nunavut. Prices etc are similar to those in the USA. JJ Bosch (talk) 17:56, 4 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Not Free. edit

The article should not read that it is "free" nor that there is no monthly fee.

"customers only pay applicable government taxes and access fees, around $3.50 a month" Should read "customers only pay only a small fee, around $3.50 a month, $4.50 in Canada" In many regions there are no access fees imposed by the government, and until Ooma makes it's books public to show that they collect no margin to cover their own operating expenses and that none of the "taxes" you are paying are those of Ooma, there is no evidence that there is anything entirely free, monthly, with Ooma.

The wording "government taxes and access fees" makes it unclear as to wether the access fees are those of government or those of Ooma or a blend of the two.

I have Ooma both in my US residence and my family's Canadian home. Their own information says the monthly charge covers their expenses, including taxes and fees.

I'm not complaining about Ooma, their service or support; we think it's a great deal... but it is not free every month. JJ Bosch (talk) 18:09, 4 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sounds like an ad edit

The article sounds like an ad to me. Did Ooma write most of it themselves? I think some context about VOIP in general, including its pro's & con's, would be helpful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.104.101.87 (talk) 19:58, 14 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Request edit on 30 December 2020 edit

This is Mike from Ooma. The entry on our company had not been significantly edited for many months and was therefore very out of date.

I just made edits to update the entry, aiming to be factual rather than promotional.

I'm hoping another editor can review my changes to confirm they are legitimate, rather than automatically reverting them.

Thank you.

Hi Ooma Comms Team, thanks for the disclosure and the request. The request proposes no changes to be implemented (all have been made already; the request contains no proposal for further edits). As noted at User talk:Ooma Comms Team, please request a rename if you have not yet done so. Regarding the {{paid}} tag: It will be removed one day, but that's a separate queue that has nothing to do with the {{request edit}} queue. Best regards, ~ ToBeFree (talk) 03:54, 1 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
I reworked those edits. Most of the changes ended up intact, but I reverted some changes that altered statements that were supported by references. If a figure is supported by a reference, you can't just change the number and leave the reference unchanged. That is misleading—once changed, the number is no longer supported by the reference. You have to provide a new reference that supports the new figure. If you want to make a change that contradicts the previous cited fact, even more is required, but that would go beyond what a COI editor could be allowed to do.--Srleffler (talk) 08:12, 1 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Updating the Ooma infobox edit

ToBeFree and Srleffler:

Thanks for reviewing my changes. As you recommended, I just submitted a rename request.

Can you advise me how to request an update to the financial information in the Ooma infobox? The data is from our 2017 fiscal year and should be for our 2020 fiscal year, which ended on Jan. 31, 2020. The information is available in our 10-K annual report at http://d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.net/CIK-0001327688/d7e2e0f1-c87d-4733-8d1c-4db8710be264.pdf.

Much appreciated.

-- Mike at Ooma Ooma Comms Team (talk) 00:33, 5 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

I'll take a look at it when I have a chance. It will help if you can find a link to the 10-K on the SEC's website. We need to obtain it from an official source.--Srleffler (talk) 05:15, 5 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Srleffler, thanks for offering to make the fix. You can find Ooma's 10-K on the SEC site at https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1327688/000156459019010638/ooma-10k_20190131.htm. -- Mike at Ooma — Preceding unsigned comment added by MikeAtOoma (talkcontribs) 23:47, 5 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
