Condemnation of Character edit

>She weathered the World War II Nazi occupation of Paris without serious condemnation of her character,....

What does her character or its condemnation have to do with the Nazi occupation? Usually when someone is describing a person "weathering" Nazi occupation, he or she is talking about physical conditions -- lack of food, shelter and clothing; being picked up by the Nazis and held for questioning; being arrested; bombing by the Germans, etc. Rissa, copy editor (talk) 23:32, 17 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sometimes the writer is an academic whose occupation requires obscure, genre-specific jargon to impress his or her peers and justify additional funding. They don't necessarily know how to turn it off on Wikipedia, or even that they should.

bisexuality and affair with Chanel edit

she had an affair with Coco Chanel, according to Chanel's biographer Lisa Chaney — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.29.128.214 (talk) 17:35, 19 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Error in Charles-Roux's account edit

The text said, citing Charles-Roux's biography of Coco Chanel, that Misia's grandfather had taught her to read music and mentored her in her early music education. But, according to the official Servais Society (who should know), he died in 1866, six years before Misia was born. Because of this, I have removed content relating to what her grandfather purportedly taught her and referred instead to the Servais family's support; two sons followed their father into music as cellists. They would have recognized and encouraged her musical gifts. Parkwells (talk) 20:40, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
