To editor MaterialWorks: now that this RM has been reopened, it is malformed because the previous current title is now a redirect, and redirects are ineligible to be a current titles in move requests. To be reopened correctly, the Mertens (surname) page should be moved back to Mertens. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 17:56, 1 June 2023 (UTC)

- Oppose moving Mertens to DAB or to Mertens (surname). Dries Mertens is not the primary topic. The example provided in WP:RPURPOSE is redirecting Einstein to Albert Einstein; a Belgian footballer who will likely not be searched for as much after his career ends is not even close to being analogous.
