Notability and the Spanish version of this article edit

Please note that the article on Spanish Wikipedia (es:Melliangee Pérez) is quite promotional in tone and referenced solely to a YouTube video. I have added a couple of sources here to keep it from being deleted as an unsourced biography of a living person and give the article's creator or someone else more time to expand the article, but it needs independent, reliable sources to establish notability.

Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Cleanup - October 2010 edit

I have extensively copyedited the article today for idiomatic English and formatting per the Wikipedia Manual of Style and WikiProject Opera article guidelines. This also included removing unencyclopedic and unreferenced puffery, e.g. "rave reviews", "renowned" etc. Please note that a Wikipedia article is not a personal website for its subject, nor should it be used for promotional purposes.

The referencing in the article is extremely poor, especially since it is the biography of a living person. It needs many more references to support the claims made in general and I have specifically marked those which require an inline citation for verification. Please do not remove those tags until the problem has been addressed.

I have removed the entire section: Future Plans. This is appropriate for a personal website but inappropriate for an encyclopedia article, especially since it was entirely unreferenced. When/if these performances actually occur, they can be added to the article referenced to reliable independent sources please. I have copied that section in its original form below for future reference:

Among his upcoming engagements from September 2010 to April 2011 include the play the role of Cio-Cio San (Madama Butterfly) and Liu (Turandot) Giacomo Puccini operas both in different and important American theaters. Sing in a tribute to the out-standing Cuban soprano [[Maria Remolá in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic along with great singers being the only Puerto Rican Cuban invited to this special occasion. Play the leading role of Juliet in the zarzuela El Misterio del Castillo from the Puerto Rican Teacher Arturo Somohano and participate in the 2010-2011 season of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra in the "Anthology of Zarzuela" to address its principal conductor Maximiano Valdes.

User:Vozsoprano edit

I have reverted Vozsoprano's edits which removed citation needed tags without adding references, introduced unidiomatic English and punctuation errors, & overlinking. User:Vozsoprano, you are claiming a series of prizes and awards for which you have provided no references whatsover. Until you provide them the tags stay. If you want to do something useful with this article, please provide the required references. Please also familiarise yourself with the Wikipedia:Manual of style and the WikiProject Opera guidelines for the formatting of the titles of works and articles. Once again, I remind the editor concerned that this is an encyclopedia article, not Ms. Pérez's personal website. Once you have written an article on Wikipedia, whether about yourself, or anyone else, you no longer own it. It will always have to conform to Wikipedia's policies on content, style and formatting – not to the subject's desired image. Voceditenore (talk) 14:10, 2 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

List of awards received by Melliangee Pérez redirected edit

Vozsoprano had created a separate article: List of awards received by Melliangee Pérez. This is inappropriate. The material belongs in the main article and should only be hived off to separate article if the main article is over 35 kilobytes long (it is currently 4.6 KB) and the list of awards is very long (it was only 1.2 KB). Secondly, only one of the awards has a reference, and three of them are very vague, not stating what the outcome of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions was. I have restored the material to this article and redirected the List page to this article. I have left a message on the editor's talk page asking them to please bring any questions about the article to this talk page to please start communicating with other editors and to leave edit summaries (this is not acceptable).
