descent edit

although she was born in what is now republic of croatia, both of her parents are serbs so, obviously, she's a new zealander of serbian ethnicity. similary to another great tennis star, jelena dokic, and similary to more than a few other serb families from croatia of that time, they found a refuge abroad.

fact that monika seles born in serbia doesen't mean she's serbian, same thing goes to marina. so, dear readers from croatia, please stop herrasing this page, she *is* born in what is now croatia and then was part of yugoslavia, but she isn't of croatian ethnicity. thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.198.201.67 (talk) 17:39, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Marina's parents are not both serbs. Her parents have never lived in Serbia. She moved to New Zealand when she was a 6 years old and started to play tennis there. Considering that she has grown up in New Zealand, and considers herself as a true Kiwi girl, her ethnicity is not important when considering her professional tennis career. And lastly, if you wish to state facts, please make sure that they are correct first. So please stop placing any incorrect facts on the page, and keep it simple. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.234.224.143 (talk) 10:51, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request for wider input on discussion at WikiProject Tennis edit

There is a long, ongoing discussion at WP:Tennis about the tournament tables found in tennis articles on English-language Wikipedia (e.g., this type of table). The discussion is about whether the "official sponsored name" of a tournament - such as Pacific Life Open - or another tournament name without the sponsor - such as Indian Wells Masters - must be used in those articles. Please join the discussion here. Thanks. Tennis expert (talk) 09:27, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
