Religion
editNNDB states that he is an atheist. I would like to have some evidence that he is Roman Catholic. OsFan 01:42, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- He was born a Roman Catholic, but he's an atheist now. Morhange 05:45, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- I know him personally and he is definitely and admittedly, and proudly, an atheist, though he also notes to me and in his biographical books that he owes his sobriety to AA (and note that I am a director in SMART Recovery). Perhaps his own word would satisfy your need, even if it is a primary source.Henrysteinberger (talk) 01:03, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- His own word would satisfy, if it were published in a verifiable and reliable source. I'm sure an autobiography qualifies. -Phoenixrod (talk) 05:02, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
merge
editI've suggested a merge from A Monk Swimming because the book is apparently not notable enough on its own. --Mikeblas (talk) 01:22, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Part-owner of bar
editI'm currently reading A Monk Swimming, and that books describes how he was only the part owner of the bar, even though it had his name. On page 154 of my 1999 paperback edition it says his business partners, who had initiated setting up the bar and brought him in as barman, paid him for the 20% he owned and he ceased working there. 2.101.10.190 (talk) 09:47, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
Vandalism
editWhat's with all the people recently changing the article to include a suicide, death, etc.? Is there any way to prevent it other than constant vigilance and "undoing" of their edits?--Vistawhite (talk) 21:25, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Why use British English for an American author and actor?
editI noticed that the template for EngvarB is at the top of this article, along with the British style for dates. This man is American, his writings are in American English. I do not understand this. Are their objections to removing the EngvarB template? Changing dates to US style, mdy? --Prairieplant (talk) 20:46, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
