  • A separate article has already been created since 2015. -- iamdumdum (talk) 08:57, 7 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Magnolia (brand) → ? – there's another dairy brand magnolia: https://www.magnolia.com.sg/our-story/ . RZuo (talk) 22:11, 2 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose. I've added a hatnote to Fraser and Neave. Unless a new article is created for the Singaporean brand, I don't see a problem here. 162 etc. (talk) 22:53, 2 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

ofc there's a problem. "Magnolia (brand)" is an ambiguous way to describe this filipino brand, especially when another multinational brand is also described in wikipedia, albeit without its article for now (but i'm writing one asap). RZuo (talk) 12:27, 7 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

It appears that OP has in fact created Magnolia (Fraser and Neave brand), which now makes this a WP:PDAB situation. Assuming that the new article is notable and does not get deleted, then Magnolia (brand) should be renamed. @Necrothesp:@Iamdumdum: 162 etc. (talk) 18:09, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Another possible solution would be to merge this article into Magnolia (Philippine company); the current setup seems like a bit of a WP:CFORK. 162 etc. (talk) 15:37, 6 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
This article (San Miguel Corporation's Magnolia brand) should not be merged with Magnolia (Philippine company) because the brand is also used by other SMC companies. A possible resolution to the issue you raised would be to create a new article for SMC's Magnolia brand and then re-write Magnolia (brand) as an article describing various Magnolia brands around the world belonging to several unrelated companies. iamdumdum (talk) 9:00 AM, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
While it does appear that the Magnolia brand is used under license for baking products, poultry, and non-alcoholic beverages, the article at Magnolia (brand) is almost entirely about the dairy company and its history. I'm not convinced that two articles are necessary. 162 etc. (talk) 16:09, 7 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
The simple fact is that the SMC's Magnolia trademark is owned by San Miguel Corporation, not Magnolia Inc. It is therefore appropriate that this article be maintained as a separate Wikipedia entry and not be merged into Magnolia (Philippine company). The article about SMC's Magnolia trademark could be placed under the title "Magnolia (Philippine brand)". As for the Magnolia (brand) article, it could be re-written as I previously stated. iamdumdum (talk) 8:10 AM, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
Magnolia Inc. is, and always has been, a subsidiary of San Miguel. The history of the company and the brand have always been intertwined. One article is sufficient to describe both. 162 etc. (talk) 15:58, 8 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Magnolia Inc. only became involved in the Magnolia dairy business (ice cream and milk) in 2009 when SMC decided to re-enter the dairy business. Prior to this, Magnolia Inc. (formerly Philippine Dairy Products Corp., a joint-venture with New Zealand Dairy Board, 1981-2002) was primarily involved in the butter and cheese business (Anchor butter, Magnolia cheese); and the Magnolia dairy business was operated as a division of SMC. iamdumdum (talk) 7:11 AM, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
