Arcot edit

I think there is a subnational monarchy which is not yet included in this list. If I get it right, it's Arcot in India. To tell the truth I've read about the Prince of Arcot on the internet. The goverment of India recognises him as the highest noble man among muslims in Inda. This title is heradity, but since so far I couldn't determine the exact nature of it's status, I've decided not to include Arcot in this list, however if somebody has a greater view on this matter, I hope he'll set this right.

You can find his name under pretenders. He retains the title, but not the crown. In other words, the monarchy has been abolished, and he's now a political pensioner. Nightw 12:52, 14 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wallis and Futuna edit

Do its monarchs have some administrative powers or not? Previously these were listed as constitutional [1]. What about Negeri Sembilan and others without a "type" column? Alinor (talk) 12:44, 14 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Not legally. The law recognises customary authority, but the monarchies and the government are separate. The states in Negeri Sembilan are purely traditional also. Nightw 05:20, 16 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

"constituent monarch"? edit

Google "constituent monarch " -wikipedia returns a whopping 8 hits, none of which seem relevant. Is this "constituent monarch" meant to be "monarch who is constituent", "monarch of a constituent", or what? It is either an invented term or an unhelpful description. A better page title can be found. What was wrong with List of subnational monarchs? jnestorius(talk) 22:19, 29 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Because most of the Google hits under that name also come from Wikipedia. There isn't a blanket term for them all, and "subnational" is incorrect, since most of these monarchs reign over nations. Nightw 02:57, 30 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Websites: Royal Ark and Genealogical Gleanings edit

See Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Self-published royalty websites for thread about these two websites which are used extensively in this article.   Will Beback  talk  00:49, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Since no-one else has done it and the issue was settled some months ago, I have just removed the Royal Ark citations & replaced with cite requests where appropriate. I am somewhat concerned that other web sources used on this article may in fact be mirroring various aspects of content that is/was presented on Royal Ark or indeed Genealogical Gleanings. This could become quite a weeding-out exercise. - Sitush (talk) 08:48, 2 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'll look into it. It's difficult to find RS-compliant sources for such obscure cases. Any problem with having the link in the further reading section? Nightw 09:05, 2 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks - this is not an area in which I have much prior knowledge. Regarding the link in further reading, I removed it on the basis that if Royal Ark has been deemed unsuitable for use in BLPs then by inference it would also fail (!) our "authoritative" test for that section and/or external links. I am not too bothered either way and was merely doing what appeared to be the logical thing. The site does appear to be operating again - it was u/s around 24 hours ago and it was that situation that caused me to delve into what was going on etc. - Sitush (talk) 09:14, 2 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, that seems fair. I think I'll try to email the author (Buyers) to find out where he's getting his information from. If the sources are accessible, I'll add them. If it's a case of private correspondance or something equally unverifiable, the entries will have to go. Nightw 09:20, 2 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Split? edit

Split - Article is large, and should be split by area.--Jax 0677 (talk) 00:00, 19 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
