wikipedia tries to rename first team coach as "manager"? edit

@Mattythewhite: can you shed some light on moving the page from "first team coach" to "manager", despite fc barcelona calls the role "first team coach" since a century, here: https://www.fcbarcelona.com/en/club/sporting-management/football ? ThurnerRupert (talk) 17:53, 11 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

While the term coach is common across Europe, manager is typically used in English, hence why our article on the topic of football managers is titled as such. I'd note also that Barcelona themselves use manager frequently on their website, as evidenced by this search. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:05, 11 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Mattythewhite: the general article Manager (association football) needs to respect somehow the tradition of the inventors of football, england. a little bit it stresses the situation by stating "he title of manager is almost exclusively used in British football." for an english club how is this. jürgen klopp at some point said he has the first and last word on a new player. does it mean guardiola, klopp really sign players contracts, do they delegate it to somebody, or they do not have the right to sign a players contract? List of FC Barcelona managersList of FC Barcelona first team coaches – offician name since decades is first team coach. videos on their own site call it sometimes "manager", which people can understand, but it is a little sloppy. wikipedia is en encyclopaedia, and should not be sloppy. Manager (association football) meniones rightfully, that "the title of manager is almost exclusively used in British football.". barcelona is not british :) ThurnerRupert (talk) 00:14, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
