Discussion in editing area with misplaced markup caused severe format problems. edit

Someone has been adding excessive commentary to the editing area of this article. Worse, the markup which prevents the remarks from appearing in the article itself was misplaced several times causing rearrangement of sentences and paragraphs, merging of distinct sections, and headings to disappear. I left the comments there, but moved the markup to the proper locations to repair the damage. I believe this type of markup should only be used for a word or two. It should not be used for a whole discussion in the editing area. This overuse makes it confusing for anyone trying to make an edit to figure out what is the visible part of the article and what is not. Those long remarks should be relegated to this Talk/Discussion page. Proper markup is also important and would have prevented the format problems. Shorter remarks, and the "Show Preview" feature should help with this. 24.0.195.5 (talk) 20:17, 26 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

What I have done recently edit

I had moved chunks of sections of this article to Criticism of Lee Myung-bak (Literal "title" translation of the Korean counterpart, 이명박에 대한 비판). The Korean version already has over 150 news/editorial citations. We cannot improve this article's quality unless we move the (previous) criticism parts to a new article, wikilink it with the Korean counterpart. Komitsuki (talk) 11:29, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Certainly there should be a brief summary of such extensive criticism in this article with the Criticism of Lee Myung-bak being listed as the main article using the Main template. --Bejnar (talk) 15:56, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Chinese characters edit

Why do we have his name in Chinese characters in the infobox? It is not normal to have languages/orthography in formats not directly related to the topic. Foreign languages/orthography representations can be sought in the non-English wikipedias. --Bejnar (talk) 15:56, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

It was very politely explainined to me that Korean is often written in Chinese characters even in Korea, hence the presense of the transliteration in the infobox. --Bejnar (talk) 04:21, 3 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Protect this article edit

Some IP users (most likely from South Korea) are vandalizing this article by deleting the criticism section. Komitsuki (talk) 13:44, 3 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Komitsuki, will you stop adding personal opinion to the talk page, and the main article. Keep things neutral, and keep your political agenda out of this and stay neutral. You have been warned by multiple people, on multiple articles. ShinVeritas (talk) 17:46, 4 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Do you think promoting censorship is the right thing to do? Why are you on Wikipedia? Komitsuki (talk) 02:46, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
What you are doing is propaganda, personal opinion, biased, unreferenced viewpoints. Wikipedia has no place for those. Your entries have distorted, twisted, and fabricated many many news articles. Feel free to contact Wikipedia and complain.ShinVeritas (talk) 04:32, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
What about you? You kept referencing news sources like Chosun Ilbo and Donga Ilbo, two very controversial 'oligarchic' newspapers. You're more biased than me. And let me tell you this. Lee Myung-bak is criticized from both left and right. The recently-made conservative K Party is technically the product of anti-Lee Myung-bak hate from high-profile conservative Koreans. Let me repeat this one more time. Lee is equally criticized from the left and right. I don't see why you can complain. I'm a Filipino conservative who absolutely oppose conservative South Korean president like Lee Myung-bak. No offense but stop complaining towards me like a child. It doesn't make you look good.

You should apologize to me again. Just like last time. Komitsuki (talk) 12:53, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I read and speak Korean perfectly, I have many friends and family in Korea having lived there for over 10 years, and I visit many, many Korean sites. I have a pretty good idea what the political environment is like, and your assumptions about Lee is misguided. Don't assume everyone thinks the same as you, and don't break wikipedia policies. Source Reference edit

This article regarding Lee Myung-bak is primarily produced based on media coverage and press releases. According to WikiFoundation’s standard with respect to the use of sources, such sources are not generally considered to be reliable. From my perspective, this goes against Wikipedia's fundamental concept of providing unbiased information for everyone. For instance, when talking about Mr. Lee's Canal Project, it is not appropriate to say "On the other hand, some say that once the Kyungboo Canal is developed, another 177 cultural assets could be discovered during excavations..." This statement is based on media coverage. Additionally, we cannot crystal-clearly specify "who said that?" I think that we should rely on other independent sources that provide neutral and factual information.Yjtalk0825 (talk) 18:32, 11 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi User talk:Yjtalk0825, I agree with your assessment that media coverage and press releases are generally not encyclopedic references that are reliable. I do, however, believe that language like "On the other hand, some saycan be OK in certain situations. Another option that I have found brings more to an article is to create a Media and Press Coverage sub-section where sources and discussion of the topic in the media can be shown. Addition of Materials: the Lee Administration's Energy Diplomacy edit

I was surprised to find the absence of coverage on the Lee Myung-Bak Administration's Energy diplomacy. Energy diplomacy, which is also known as resource diplomacy, was one of the crucial national policies of which the administration frequently made a boast. After Mr.Lee's retirement from presidency, Energy diplomacy received lots of criticisms from a variety of interest groups for failures in investments. I believe that the addition of this material will help readers get a more neutral view on the Lee Administration.Yjtalk0825 (talk) 18:48, 11 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dear User:Yjtalk0825 I agree. I have taken a course on Energy Policy and am aware of the criticisms from a variety of interest groups for failures in investments that you are referring to. Good edit, any specific areas or structure ideas?Joce Strad (talk) 17:08, 29 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

BBK Incident edit

I think the wording of the event is quite misleading. In my opinion, it should not be titled as BBK incident. But rather, we should title it as BBK Scandal because this event was beyond one incident. It was a political scandal that stirred up controversies in South Korea. Although Mr. Lee proved his innocence, there are still several doubts about the scandal such as the ownership of the invested capital. There should be an augmented coverage on this section. Additionally, "BBK Scandal" seems to be a more appropriate title.Yjtalk0825 (talk) 18:58, 11 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dear User:Yjtalk0825, I believe the word Incident is appropriate, but I do see the weight in your comment. In line with Wikipedia's attempts to keep the content of articles neutral and not swayed in any direction, I could see the word 'Scandal' as inferring a negative connotation or certain pre-notions in a manner that Incident would not. However, 'Scandal' does give more insight into the event, which I was not originally familiar with. Maybe there is a title word that is more neutral but also more insightful than 'incident'.
