Suggestions and feedback from user MapReader for incorporation

• You have chosen an interesting article, a lake that doesn't exist any more! I know Italy quite well but didn't know anything about it. What you have written looks good, although structured exclusively from a historical viewpoint. I know that malaria was a big problem historically for low lying parts of Italy, and I am sure the wider issue of eliminating it must be covered somewhere on WP; it would be good to cross-link to any such articles, for example History of malaria, . A citation for the early idea of draining in the 1500s would be helpful. A modern map showing the location would be good, if you can find one free of copyright restrictions. A section on the geography would be a useful addition - this could describe the location, and explain why a lake was there (i.e. where the water comes from and why it didn't drain away into a river). It would also be interesting to know what the area covered by the former lake is now used for (i.e. current land use). Otherwise, unless there is anything noteworthy to say about local geology, flora and fauna, or present day human activity, I think you have everything covered. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ganesha811 (talk • contribs) 18:04, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

• No copyvio concerns, dablinks, duplinks or broken external links
• Sourcing looks decent but inline citation missing for "Between 1915 and 1930, additional work...drainage under the Arno. "

• Fixed - added reference.

• A few things for citations:

• Include translated titles (trans-title) and language parameters for foreign language sources
• Avoid all caps
• In ref 2 I think there should only be a "last" parameter and no "first", makes it look weird
• Ref 9 needs more details

• Fixed. I believe all these issues should now be addressed.

• It was also known as Lago di Sesto This would look better if included in the previous line instead as "Lago di Bientina, also known as Lago di Sesto, ...."

• Citations should usually be absent from the lead, and all the points mentioned there should be in the main text as well.
• tHe lead should be expanded by a few more lines to include major details throughout the article like "Due to regular flooding and the fact ...improving the drainage of the lake began in the 1500s". Basically it should be a complete picture of the main text

• Fixed. I've rewritten the lead to address the two points above. Let me know if it's now suitably improved!

• It would be interesting to add the English translation or meaning of the name if possible

• Comment: Agreed, but I can't find a reliable source. The Italian version of the article states that Lago di Sesto (sesto = sixth) comes from the sixth mile marker on a road through the valley, but it's unsourced and I can't find a source to back it up. Ganesha811 (talk) 16:26, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

• 7th century AD and mid-eighth century - two ways of putting numbers less than ten. MOS recommends words for such numbers but it isn't strict, just consistency is required.

The changes look great, especially the lead :) The point about the translation of the name may be ignored it we don't have good sources. Just one more point I noticed.. "Canale Imperiale" and any other foreign language words should be in italics consistently throughout the article. I didn't check for other examples but this Canal name is in italics in lead but not in main text. Plus it would be great to add translations like you do for La Botte in the lead (not sure about all other foreign terms but it would be great if we can do it for most terms to enhance readability).
