This articles suffers from too many categories. I have have removed parent categories which do not belong in this article. See:Wikipedia:Categorization#Duplicate categorization rule as well as categories which are not really applicable to Jonathan Maxcy, but another editor has put them back in. I refuse to get into an edit war but I must protest. For example: Category:Union College, New York is a parent category in Category:Presidents of Union College, New York and adds nothing to this article. Jonathan Maxcy may have been a Baptist pastor for 9 years, but isn't it really stretching it to put him into Category:Christian religious leaders. By that reasoning every pastor would be considered a religious leader, which I don't think is the case. It is absurd to put him in Category:University or college founders. While he may have been called in 1804 by the board of trustees to become the first president of what is now the University of South Carolina, that institution was founded in 1801 by the governor and legislature of South Carolina. clariosophic (talk) 19:33, 30 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
