Requested move 5 May 2019 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Moved to John Wilson (Irish politician) as sensibly suggested by Spleodrach — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:36, 22 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

John P. WilsonJohn Wilson (Tánaiste) – ElectionsIreland.org refer to him as 'John Wilson'. The website of the school he worked in refers to him as 'John Wilson'. The Irish Times refers to him as 'John Wilson'. The GAA knew him him as 'Mr John Wilson'. The 'P' seems to have been included in the Wikipedia title to distinguish him from other John Wilsons. The usual style would be 'John Wilson (description)'. As there have been so many politicians, referring to him as one doesn't help. But, according to Tánaiste, only 25 people have risen to this rank and this man is the only 'John Wilson' to have done so. 2001:BB6:A36:8458:6DEA:79A0:C524:A25 (talk) 23:39, 5 May 2019 (UTC)--Relisting. DannyS712 (talk) 06:50, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose move to John Wilson (Tánaiste), but support move to John Wilson (Irish politician) as this is the the standard naming convention and already redirects to John P. Wilson. Spleodrach (talk) 07:14, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment Whether we change the title or not we should indicate "P." somewhere on the article since per "ElectionsIreland.org" [1] "P." stands for "John Patrick Wilson" OkayKenji (talk) 21:46, 11 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
