Fáilte! Welcome!

Some Wikipedians formed a project to better organise articles relevant to Gaelic games. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians.

If you have any questions about the project, please enquire on the talk page.

If you would like to help, see the tasks section below. Advice on sources is available.

For more information on WikiProjects, please see Wikipedia:WikiProjects and Wikipedia:WikiProject best practices.

This WikiProject aims to create, expand and improve listings relevant to the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and its associated sports, i.e. Gaelic football, hurling, camogie, Gaelic handball and rounders. The scope of the project covers articles on these sports, their competitions, the county boards, club and county teams, players and other related matters.

Ensure that Category:Scheduled Gaelic games competitions and its contents are updated, with the competition removed from the category if it is no longer scheduled.

If you are interested in photography, you can help by:

  1. Finding listed in the requested images category.
  2. Removing the border and cropping Jimmy Deenihan, Brian Talty and John Tobin at File:Winners of the Sneem Annual 7-a-side Gaelic Football tournament in Spring 1975 (9420313355).jpg (Larry McCarthy completed).

If you are interested in navigational boxes, you can help by:

  1. Missing from Category:National Football League (Ireland) navigational boxes are Template:Kerry NFL Team 2020, Template:Mayo NFL Team 2019, Template:Dublin NFL Team 2018, Template:Dublin NFL Team 2016.
  2. Space missing from Template:TipperaryUnder 21 Hurling Team 1995.

If you want to work on new biographies but are still unsure which are notable, you can help by creating the following missing football All Stars:

Note that some of these players may have pages already created under a different title. If this is the case, the template for that year's All Stars (Template:XXXX All Stars) needs to be altered to reflect the correct article name. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Gaelic games/bio for details on the layout of the typical GAA player biography.

Words and phrasesEdit

Irish-language words and phrases should be marked up using {{lang}}, thus: {{lang|ga|Páirc na hÉireann}}.

If an article already exists in the location you intend to create, the following disambiguation should be used.

Move x GAA to x GAA (County) and create your new article at x GAA (County) for example Erin's Own GAA (Cork). The undisambiguated title then should then become a disambiguation page, i.e. Erin's Own GAA.

This is a selection of the most important GAA templates. There are lots of other minor templates, which can be seen at Category:Gaelic games templates
