The Jessie Buckley Website edit

I find it appalling someone here keeps deleting Jessie's official website. Why can this not be added? Makes no sense to me or her! There is absolutely nothing wrong with jessiebuckleyonline.com and I wish to add it again thank you. It does not go against any of your rules, but what does go against them is some random fan making her wikipedia page in the first place and then purposely refusing to add her main website. 92.8.110.247 (talk) 17:14, 20 June 2008 (UTC)June 20th, 2008 DDReply

You are mistaken and missing the point that has been made at least twice. It was deleted because it appears to be a fansite, nothing whatsoever to do with it being deleted because of it being an official site. There was nothing (if I recall correctly) on the website to indicate that it is her official website. And of course any official website can and should be added. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 17:27, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Nowhere on the website does it say anything about being a fan site. Websites that are official do not need to say "official" on them in order for them to be added. Can we please add the website back? DD —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.8.110.247 (talk) 18:02, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Again you seem to have misunderstood what I said. I didn't say that the website mentions it is a fansite. I said, "it appears to be a fansite" which it did. And with regard to websites needing to say "official" I didn't say they did. I said there was nothing on the website that indicated it is her official website which as far as I recall there isn't. It isn't about the word official it is about the site itself. However, for some reason the site won't load for me now. Until it will load of course I can't comment further. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 18:28, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
I have read some of your comments from multiple users and it seems you are on some strange power trip. Whether or not you like her website, shouldn't matter! Wikipedia encourages links, and from what I have read you keep deleting all of them. Please explain how her school's website is more important than her actual website? You are making no sense, and if you continue to refuse it, I will have you reported. I have pages and pages of evidence on how you are treating multiple wikipedia users. You should be ashamed of yourself. There is nothing wrong with Jessie's website whatsoever, and it seems you are a racist against the Irish--perhaps I will add that to my report. I have seen a pattern on how you are treating others on here. Many of them are Irish also. Good luck! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.8.110.247 (talk) 19:28, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Firstly, please comment on content not users; please do not make threats and please do not make totally unfounded accusations of racism. I have made no personal comments about you nor your edits and nor will I do so. I would ask you to do likewise. You will find though that there are many editors on wikipedia who spend a lot more time removing links than I have done. However, regardless of that what I said above seems again to have been misunderstood and you are taking this far too personally. I didn't say, (and nor did I imply, nor do I think!) that her school website was somehow more important, nor that there was anything "wrong with the website" you linked to. Nor have I said, nor implied that any official website should be "refused" - if you check I said exactly the opposite. If I have not made myself clear then I can only apologise and try to explain again. The site when I looked at it came across like a fansite. Nothing more than that, that is not a criticism of the site, just a comment, (and an observation based on what I could see then but can't see now for some reason). If you recall I also said that at the moment the site won't load for me so I couldn't actually comment further about the site. I also left your last edit on that basis because I was quite happy to wait with your explanation that it is her official website. However, regardless of your comments about my edits, you will also see that a third user (User:Dmol and from Ireland!) has also now reverted your link. So rather than focussing on attacking me personally perhaps we could discuss this civilly which I have certainly tried to do, and would ask that you do so also. As I quite clearly said above, "of course any official website can and should be added". Is the website loading correctly or is it just me it won't now load for and I get the error message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"?♦Tangerines♦· Talk 20:00, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

The website has been loading fine. Perhaps you are thinking of a blog that was also added. I am talking about the actual website. www.jessiebuckleyonline.com There is nothing wrong with it and nothing on it that causes the assumption that it is fan based. I find that absolutely ridiculous that you would say that! Whenever we try to add it back it is immediatly deleted, so we will be forced to take further action. Sorry, but you could have just left it on there, as it was already on there for over a week.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.8.110.247 (talkcontribs) 22:02, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I was trying to load jessiebuckleyonline.com which wouldn't load for me last night but is now loading so all sorted. Again though and I can't say this any other way - I didn't say there was anything wrong with the site. Also, saying that it looks like a fansite was not intended as criticism. I'm sorry that you have taken it as criticsm and that you find it ridiculous but it is only a comment and to explain why it keeps getting removed, and not just by me but one other user and a "userbot". It isn't meant as an insult either to the site or you and it is a great pity that you feel that way. With regard to it being removed again, as I said above, that final revert was done by User:Dmol not me. I had left it on the article. With regard to the length of time the link had been there, your first edit adding the link was on 17th June - four days ago and not a week. And it was then removed by a bot at first. I will though again ask you about the site and ask you please to try not to take any of this personally and remain civil. The site seems to talk about her throughout in the "third person". For instance in her biography it states, "Jessie made it to the final two and was runner up. Many will agree that she was robbed that role, but we also know she will be given something fantastic in the future." There is also nothing on the site saying "Welcome to my website" or anything really that lets anyone reading it know that it is her official website. It only talks about her in the third person as far as I can see. A comparison for instance with Connie Fisher's website here - http://www.conniefisher.co.uk/ where it has "official", it has blogs that she has added, and it talks of "My videos", "My pictures" etc. When googled, it comes up on google as the official Connie Fisher website. By comparison on the main page of jessiebuckleyonline.com it says, "Welcome to the Jessie Buckley website! Jessiebuckleyonline.com will try to keep uptodate about what is happening in the beautiful Jessie's musical career. If you have never heard of her, she made her television debut on the BBC show I'd Do Anything." Again only talking about her in the third person and saying that you will try to keep up to date about what she is doing. The update states to check the blog for updates on her. The blog itself seems to be posts by other people discussing her and other IDA contestants and not her own blog. Again I can only stress that I am not criticising either you or the website, just surely for her official website would it not perhaps be better for you and her to have her official website using at least some terminology that points toward it being her website rather than talking about her only in the third person? That way there would be no ambiguity at all and no confusion. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 14:38, 21 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I see what you are saying, but unfortunately Jessie doesn't have the time to create her own website, nor the skills. She hired a website designer who in turn only did what was asked. Yes, she should keep her own blog, but she thought it would be a great idea to incorporate various articles mentioning her--she is very friendly with her cast mates from IDA, and doesn't mind sharing the success. I have to say in spite of Connie Fischer creating her own, most busy celebrities just do not have the time, and find it more professional in the third person. Jessie is extremely busy these days and has just been thrown into a hectic lifestyle. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.8.110.247 (talk) 14:48, 21 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. Just to clarify though I very much doubt Connie Fisher created her own official website. I must admit I haven't checked though as I was just using that website as an example, but I would presume it was created by a website designer, who then used the wording so as to show with no ambiguity that it is her official website. You will note though that I have not reverted your edits for a while, probably before your very first message above (though agin I haven't checked!!), but it has now been removed twice by another user.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 16:18, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Does anybody know what Jessie is doing now I'd Do Anything is over? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.104.67.127 (talk) 20:49, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

ALW Comparison edit

I think one of the most important and complimentary comments made about Jessie was the caomparison that Andrew Lloyd Webber made between Jessie and Judy Garland - for an 18 year old (virtually unknown) girl to get this type of praise is worth inclding in the article (with an appropriate reference so that it is not deleted) - There are many singers more experienced than Jessie that would give anything for such a comparison and here is an 18 year old Irish girl who demonstrted that she has the natural talent, emotion and range of one of the best known and most beloved of singers - a 'singer's singer' if you will. Its a a valid and important comparison and for Jessie a great honour to get it from a man of ALW's calibre who has seen the best and sees the best in Jessie!. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.0.104.72 (talk) 12:17, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Birthdate? edit

IMDb says she was born in 1988 - I haven't changed the date in the article because IMDb isn't always reliable. Does anyone have confirmation of the date one way or another? --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 13:37, 18 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Shakespeare characters edit

The entry states that she played Perdita in Henry V, but that is a character in The Winter's Tale. Presumably either the play or the character name is wrong ? The next entry has her playing Hermione in The Winter's Tale. RGCorris (talk) 11:12, 20 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

I have now found a review that says that she played Katherine in Henry V, so have corrected the entry. RGCorris (talk) 11:18, 20 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
And another review saying that Miranda Raison played Hermione and Jessie Buckley played Perdita in The Winter's Tale, so have corrected that entry as well. RGCorris (talk) 11:23, 20 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Birthplace of Killarney. edit

Sorry to be pedantic, but wanting to check on her birthplace. The article says that Jessie Buckley was born in Killarney. But I don’t think that Killarney has had a maternity hospital or ward for many decades, likely before she was born. A lot of mothers go to nearby Tralee, but would still say they their babies are from Killarney. Am I right or wrong here. Is there a reliable source to show her birth town. --Dmol (talk) 10:54, 7 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

I don't have a reliable source but people aren't necessarily born in hospitals. She may have been born at home.Sbishop (talk) 12:24, 7 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
True, but highly unlikely in Ireland at that time. --Dmol (talk) 20:17, 8 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
