Why is this katakana here? Because he’s of Japanese descent? Why don’t we have キム・セイル and クリス・コーネル in those articles, too? Or, hey, why not Ким Тайил and Крис Корнелл? Nobody’s added കിം തയ്യില് yet.

Writing his name in kanji the Japanese way (山本 紘 Yamamoto Hiro) is even more absurd for an American bassist who was born in Seattle; especially when the Japanese Wikipedia writes his name in katakana (ja:ヒロ・ヤマモト) and styles him the way they do with any western name.
