Doctor Who's new companion
editOK what's going on here!?! I mentioned that Agyeman might be the new assistant, someone removed it on the grounds it's only a rumour, now its been re-typed by someone else! Digifiend 12:52, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
BBC annoucement at midnight July 5th 2006
editThere will supposedly be an announcement by the BBC released at midnight July 5th (end of July 4th) - many people are speculating it will be Freema and that she will play a different character than the one in AoG/Doomsday - this is possibly fueled by insider knowledge.
- You were right! Although it's accesible today on July 4th - Jamandell (d69) 13:34, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
- is it a good idea to upset the BBC by linking to embargoed press releases - all we need to do is wait 5 more hours?
- Removed until Embargo is lifted. Please see Talk:Doomsday (Doctor Who)#New Companion for details. The_B 18:57, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
- can you believe the SUN was right three weeks ago? whodathunkit!
How do you pronounce her last name?
edit- I've now heard her last name pronounced three different ways, does anyone know for certain?
- I believe it is pronounced Ah-gee-man --Fusionblue 18:07, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
IPA
editCould someone who is familiar with IPA add it to this article? --GracieLizzie 00:49, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- I think it would be something like æʤəmən but I'm no expert. — AnemoneProjectors (zomg!) 12:43, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
Image
editThe current image on the page is under a Fair Use rationale; as we're illustrating a public figure, any image under a free license would be preferable, if one can be found. Any help in that regard would be appreciated. Radagast 01:46, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- There is a good picture of her at this fansite, freemaagyeman.com, showing her out of character. However, there are no notices about image uses, only the website name on the actual picture. Perhaps someone could contact the webmistress? - Weebiloobil 14:46, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Birth date?
editHer official website http://freemaagyeman.com/background/ says she was born in 1979 - what is the source for the 1980 birthdate in the infobox? Alucard (Dr.) 16:35, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- freemaagyeman.com is not Freema's official website, as the text at the bottom of that page makes clear. However, according to these BBC pages: [1] [2] [3] she was 27 years old as of July-August 2006, so she can't have been born in 1980! 217.155.20.163 01:58, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Good catch - the URL should be also removed from the infobox for that site, since that is for the official site. Alucard (Dr.) 04:19, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
OK, since people keep changing her birth yearI have now taken away the question mark and added a citation to her birth year. If someone can come up with a different citation, then we can mark it as unsure, and quote both citations, rather than battling between the two. -- Alucard (Dr.) | Talk 20:43, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
P.S. It appears that IMDB has the 1980 birth year. It may be in error. I would treat the BBC and the other website as more reliable than IMDB. -- Alucard (Dr.) | Talk 20:48, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
How tall is she?

Photo is of "Martha Jones"
editShould this page have photo of Freema Agyeman as herself and not "Martha Jones"? Certainly there are plenty available at this point, not sure about fair-use sources?
Cousin?
editWhat basis is there for the claim that Freema's previous character (Adeola Oshodi, in "Army of Ghosts") is Martha's cousin? Rojomoke 19:18, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
I should research better before posting :-). It's mentioned in episode "Smith and Jones"! Rojomoke 19:23, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
Copyright?
editMuch of the text in this article under her awards, biography and background appears to be directly copied and pasted from Freema's website, including the exact wording, exactly same upper case areas, etc. Is that actually allowed? Let me know because I can spruce up a whole bunch of pages in wikipedia quite easily if that's acceptable.
Also, no photo on this article? Is there not any public domain photo available after her being in the public eye for over a year now? The BBC put out some photos of her being herself (not as Martha Jones) very early on when she was announced, are those not suitable for use here? I'd add one myself but I am not sure exactly how and what would be fair use.
Compared to some other actress/actor pages, this article definitely needs some "love" IMHO.... TaraLivesOn 10:08, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- If the text's been copied, it needs a rewrite at the very least. Wikipedia's supposed to provide free content; presenting someone else's work under the same license risks copyright problems. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 10:52, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
To what degree are we relying on FreemaAgyeman.com as a source of information for this article? The reason I ask is that the Wikiwide policy on biographies of living people states the following:
"Material from self-published books, zines, websites, and blogs should never be used as a source about a living person, unless written or published by the subject of the article (see below)."
If we're relying heavily on a fansite that doesn't cite its sources, we're in trouble, sourcewise, and need to look for alternatives (or even remove some of the material we have). --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 10:24, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I've removed the material sourced to said fansite. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 16:51, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- If you don't trust her site then be sure to remove the Filmography and Theatre Work section too as it's copied verbatim off her site. I seriously question the motivation for some of the deletions on this page. Go all the way back and start going through the edits and see how this page has been systematically depleted of useful information for reasons that are unclear. Then go look at pages for similar actors like Billie Piper and David Tennant and the sources aren't stated either or use their unofficial fansites (because neither of them have official sites either) TaraLivesOn 18:02, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- It's not a case of my distrust. This is a case of policy (see biographies of living people). And it's not as if I didn't ask for help in providing alternate sources (see here). If you think there are similar problems with the Piper and Tennant pages, I'd be happy to go through the same procedure with those articles.
- On the other hand, you could get busy and find alternate sources. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 18:44, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hurrah, something to work with. Thank you. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 10:23, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
This makes her sound like a loser
edit"In 2003 Agyeman was nominated in two categories in The British Soap Awards for her role as Lola Wise in Crossroads. She was nominated as Best Newcomer [26]but eventually lost out to Shane Richie (Alfie Moon). She was also nominated as sexiest female[26], but lost out to Jessie Wallace (Kat Slater).
In 2007 she was one of the top four nominations for best actress in the National Television Awards[27] but lost out to Lacey Turner."
She lost every nomination, it kind of makes her sound like a loser. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.129.92.149 (talk) 16:20, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- I agree, and besides its not really relevant or necessary to know who ended up winning; that she was nominated is all we need to note.Pawnkingthree (talk) 16:34, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Is it me being stupid or...
edit...was she in the new Batman movie as one of the reporters when Dent claims to be Batman? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.129.213.242 (talk) 02:45, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- Can't tell you who it was, but it certainly wasn't Freema. Digifiend (talk) 10:30, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Her tattoo
editHer tattoo reads رها= Raha=free. I corrected it. The word Baha=بها means "value" & is not correct. --74.12.102.50 (talk) 23:41, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Star Wars
editWas Freema Agyeman really in Star Wars: The Force Awakens? It does really look like her, but apparently according to Agyeman herself on Twitter, it's not her. --Danniesen (talk) 19:48, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- No, that actor was Maisie Richardson-Sellers. Scruce (talk) 21:36, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Ethnicity of the mother
editIn the French and English Wikipedia it says that her mother is a kurd from Iran. Are there any credible sources for this? Avestaboy (talk) 13:13, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
