If you want an article about the son, please write one. edit

This is about the father. Because he is a public figure, the arrest **MIGHT** belong here. But probably not. sinneed (talk) 23:17, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think a brief mention is all that is needed. Dems on the move (talk) 23:28, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Why? He is not his son. His son is not a minor, so the father is not responsible for him.sinneed (talk) 23:30, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Because it is a notable event in the father's life (which is why the arrest made the news). I agree that any further details belong in an article about the son (which would have to survive its own notability test). Dems on the move (talk) 23:33, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hmm. I don't agree, but you seem to feel strongly, so I defer to you. I removed the name of the victim. The family of the victim is suffering enough without finding themselves listed in Wikipedia. sinneed (talk) 23:37, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I can point to dozens of articles where notable figures' family members, and even close acquaintances, are mentioned when they're newsworthy themselves. If this instance doesn't belong then there's a lot of cleanup in other articles that needs to be done. But I'd think it belongs because his children are already being mentioned by virtue of being his children.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.197.221.130 (talk) 23:42, 3 December 2008
Without doubt, there is a LOT of cleanup needed on Bio articles. Thus, the Bio group is about 50,000 articles backlogged on reviews. :) As I say... I defer to those who think the arrest needs to be in... but I think it is a Bad Thing. *shrug* It is also a vandalmagnet... clearly. sinneed (talk) 23:46, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

The father interceded with Governor Schwarzenegger to shorten his son's sentence. This clearly belongs in this article.

Yes, it absolutely does, I totally agree. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.67.69.169 (talk) 04:57, 9 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

As Speaker of the Assembly, he asked the governor to commute a manslaughter sentence for his son, and the governor did it. Whatever you think of the facts, it was a massive subject of discussion in the media, and it continues to be raised. How on earth could that *not* be relevant to this article? Suppose the Speaker of the House had convinced the US President to commute his daughter's sentence for armed robbery. Surely that would be worth mentioning in that person's page! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:204:C900:E8AB:F8DE:C7C7:BA00:CF8B (talk) 09:13, 9 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

I have removed your addition, as it is a copyright violation. Also, my opinion is that it's off-topic. — Diannaa (talk) 21:13, 12 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

I have added the section back, and something into the lede. This was the former speaker of the house who intervened with the Governor of California to have his son's manslaughter conviction commuted. Schwarzenegger commuted it on his last day in office to worldwide condemnation, and subsequent court actions from San Diego to Sacramento. His son served less than seven years of a 16-year conviction. This has been front page news for many years. This belongs, it is not Fabian Núñez's personal webpage. Personal opinion edit

I will revert all edits that do not conform to Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons. This is one of the exceptions allowed to 3rr. Stop this at once. Either add a source, or leave it out. sinneed (talk) 23:51, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Minor clean edit

Moved the personal stuff to the bottom.

Killed a section that had a single sentence. It remains a single-sentence paragraph... so it still needs work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sinneed (talkcontribs) 23:18, 3 December 2008

Page protection edit

I have semi-protected the page given repeated violations of the biography of living persons guideline. It may or may not be approrpiate to make reference to the son's arrest in the article (see discussion above) but we cannot attribute guilt or innocence as has been the case several times today.

The protection is only temporary, to give time for consensus to form on an appropriate set of words (if any). Euryalus (talk) 00:02, 4 December 2008 (UTC) by ,jessica t —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.30.96.189 (talk) 15:54, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Has this ever been revisited? I was actually trying to find a summary of the events surrounding Esteban Nunez and found them bizarrely missing. This is odd compared to the sorts of information that is normally included in bios. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.196.195.77 (talk) 05:59, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of section edit

I deleted the section about Nunez's son and the death of Luis Santos. While notable, this section seems problematic, as principally the section is about the son and his actions. The only relation to Fabian is the mention that he was a close friend of Governor Schwarzenegger... and a friend of Mayor Villaraigosa... If you look at the Joe Biden article, Hunter Biden is mentioned only a few times, though it is worth mentioning his connection to Burisma, because the subject of the article is well-related to that controversy. In this case with Fabian and his son, it is not. --PerpetuityGrat (talk) 21:56, 30 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
