Descriptions of Courses

edit

The courses need information. --PJ Pete

That does not mean degrading over half the article in the process.[1] FullMetal Falcon 13:43, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, people that have never played F-Zero X and read this article need to read information about the courses, so they'll learn. There will need to be a wikitable that has some objects such as Jump Plate and Dash Plate and for each course there should be a number of how many there are, and if there's 0 of them on any course, type in "None" instead of the number, 0. --PJ Pete
That's why there's strategy guides. However, the X pilot profiles can use some rewording. FullMetal Falcon 17:46, 21 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Body, Boost, and Grip

edit

To tell the difference in Body, Boost, and Grip, people will learn this way. For the Body or Weight, Body A: the machine is super-heavy in the mass of weight, Body B: the machine is just heavy in the mass of weight, Body C: the machine is average in the mass of weight, Body D: the machine is just light in the mass of weight, Body E: the machine is super-light in the mass of weight. For the Boost or Speed-Up, Boost A: the machine has a super-fast boost, Boost B: the machine's boost is fast, Boost C: the machine's boost is not very fast, Boost D: the machine's boost is slow, Boost E: the machine's boost is slower than other's. For the Grip or Handling, Grip A: the machine has very good handling, Grip B: the machine has good handling, Grip C: the machine has average handling, Grip D: the machine can't turn very well, Grip E: the machine has the worst handling. --PJ Pete

This is with all F-Zero games, so its already stated under F-Zero (series). btw, please replace/rewrite "you" in the article with "the player" or something, that's something not used in any encyclopedia. FullMetal Falcon 01:51, 8 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Trivia section

edit

Would it be necessary to have a trivia section? You can tell by what mistakes were made, or the difference between this game and the sequels that do some retcons on characters (eg. Jody Summer was originally given the age of 24, but her age has been retconned and she is now 25). --PJ Pete

It is never necessary to have one since they should not exist in the first place! FMF|contact 22:45, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

GA nom on hold

edit
  • You should wlink the publisher (IGN etc.) in refs.
  • "The title can be used with a Rumble Pak" - you mean "the game"?
  • There's quite a lot of gamecruft; is it all necessary?
  • "The game is noteworthy for its fast gameplay, track design, abundance of courses and vehicles and keeping a high framerate even though there can be up to 30 racers on screen at the same time." - We don't need to be convincing the reader that the game is noteworthy....
  • It looks odd that only ref 13 contains a quote...
  • "The first course in the Joker Cup..." - paragraph unsourced
  • "will change to an alt-rock remaster" - say alternative rock please
  • "utilized outside of Japan[6] due to the" - need a comma before the ref
  • You could seriously expand the reception section.

Dihydrogen Monoxide 02:27, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

wlink the publisher, started, but why isn't that automatic within all/some of those citation templates if its necessary? Also, does the gamecruft mostly come from the unlocking of this and that underneath the "circuits" section or is it gameplay in general along with the Disk drive expansion section? « ₣ullMetal ₣alcon » 04:10, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
It's not automatic because not all publishers have articles...sites like IGN do, but others (like ref 14 - World of Video Games) don't.
The info about unlocking stuff in the circuits section isn't really necessary. I just looked at my FA and realised there's quite a lot of gameplay info there too...
I think you could merge and trim the 3rd, 4th, and 5th gameplay paragraphs. Trim the 1st and 2nd and you'll probably be OK.
The disk drive stuff should be trimmed (to one paragraph probably, and with no image) in favour of F-Zero X Expansion Kit. Also may wish to move it to the gameplay area
Dihydrogen Monoxide 01:40, 6 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
As far as gameplay is concerned, this article is pretty much a modified copy-paste version of F-Zero GX. This article is purposely structured with Majora's Mask in mind, its current form and when it was reviewed. That's the reason why all that DD stuff is there in two paragraphs. In fact, I was thinking of possibly redirecting the Expansion Kit article since it is mostly only listing and explaining with elaborate detail everything F-Zero X has in a couple sentences. « ₣ullMetal ₣alcon » 23:22, 6 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sounds like a plan. I'll pass it in the meantime. Dihydrogen Monoxide 05:25, 7 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

WP:VG Assessment

edit

I'm happy overall, but the article is not up to A-class yet. Some points:

  • Wikilink the lead.
  • Remove excessive detail from the first paragraph of the lead (Rumble Pak, expansion..). Move this information to the body.
  • Rewrite the third paragraph to fit WP:LS and see also the feature in this month's VG newsletter.
  • The first paragraph of Gameplay is a bit in universe.
  • The whole Gameplay section needs more wikilinks.
  • Source 15 is questionable. If a better source can be found, that would be good.
  • The section structure is uncommon, for that, and in general, for the prose too, see the recent guide in User:Guyinblack25/Sandbox.
  • Do not use the word "utilize" (common in the article). There's other prose problems you might want a copy editor to take a look at.

Once you've addressed the above, ask for a re-assessment.

Does the Virtual Console version include the track editor? 80.101.212.102 (talk) 18:02, 28 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

No, the original game does not include elements from the Expansion Kit. « ₣M₣ » 20:10, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Were there two versions of F Zero X?

edit

I remember watching a letsplay say he "did not remember Death Race" mode from the original version. Was this "F Zero X" a modded game or something? I don't have any sources on it, I just want to know if that is the case or not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8804:7501:1900:D96A:E5EF:FECE:FDEF (talk) 03:16, 6 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Reading this article as a research starting point before creating a video would've been in his best interest (it's always been there). « Ryūkotsusei » 13:24, 6 May 2018 (UTC)
